I think the Scorpio and PS4 Pro will end up like the Wii U.
If you have to choose, will you pay a couple hundred $ for a visual enhancement or for new games? For anyone into gaming it's an easy to answer question.

@xboxiphoneps3: Not like the Switch they dont. And sure you could have made Switch more powerful, but then it would have cost $499 and been super expensive to develop for. All i need is 3 things in life. My Mac, my Iphone, and my Switch.
@xboxiphoneps3: Portable devices arent cheap to make. And more advance graphics cost more money to develop for. Meaning our favorite franchises would have to sell more. Which would lead to low effort games. Wed all be playing the same boring stuff.
I think it has a great set of games for the first year, if they all release this year.
If the games or the idea of taking them on the go isn't appealing, then there are other options on the market. Most likely, people on the forum already own a PS4/Xbox One and PC and have access to the majority of 3rd party multi-platform titles. In this regard, consider whether the Switch exclusives or the portability is appealing to you, and decide based on that.
There are a number of Switch games this year that look appealing to me, hence why I decided to pre-order the system.
Nintendo should have at least gotten Fallout 4 from Bethesda, or DOOM. I wonder how they had looked, maybe too much work to get F4 to run on the Switch (at least too much work for Bethesda, who suck at optimization anyways). Skyrim is boring, I've bought it twice already and I'd really have to force myself to finish it.

Basically all I am getting from you is that Nintendo is broke and cant pull in cross platform support/etc, okay got it
No way around it, Switch is still woefully under powered for its price, it will still end up like the Wii U..
But its not. I dare you to make PS4 also portable and watch how much it cost. Thing would cost you like $700-800.

And the battery life would be under a minute.
There's Splatoon 2 in May. Right there, your premise goes off the rails.
Anyway, also remember that the 3DS *also* had a slow start. The 3DS is... pretty well off now.
Is Splatoon 2 confirmed May or is it still "Summer 2017"? If it's still Summer 2017 I'm guessing that means "End of August".
@GameboyTroy: Yeah people who developed this are retards. Those who buy them are dumbasses.
Oh the irony, Nintendo isn't making a console for me or for my preference!
You sure as hell are right there. I don't like it, it's not for me. I know something's going crap when I see one. I don't think anyone should suffer buying this piece of shit. Anyone who buys it is just absolutely tasteless and stupid.
Okay, so when someone is interested in a device you don't like, you think they're stupid? You're already making yourself look stupid when you talk about it.
Yes they are because they don't know any better. I am not stupid, I know what I'm doing, okay?

So they don't know any better because they don't have the same taste as you? LOL
Nintendo has to make it their goal to get Game freak to make their next main line Pokémon for Switch. Otherwise the Switch will probably end up like Wii U.
Nintendo definitely has an uphill battle coming off of the Wii U. Out of the Wii U, ps4 and Xbox one though I've gotten the most playtime out of the Wii U. Gamers that asbolutely love games and Nintendo will definitely purchase it, I've got it preordered, but it will be difficult to capture all of those gamers who have gone to PC, ps4, or Xbox one to buy another console that has older tech and yet is the same price or more expensive to ps4/x1.
@iandizion713:
I wasnt talking about the portability of the Switch, it is obvious they put most of its focus on the portability of it. My point still stands though, it is still woefully underpowered as a home docked console. They are using the same Soc thats in the Shield TV but underclocked by 300 mhz, yes Shield TV is faster then the Switch lol......
Also , "And more advance graphics cost more money to develop for." not exactly true, thats why there are things called game engines you can license to use/etc that don't cost much more then ARM development for games
Switch is very underpowered and i dont care for the portability aspect of it, so Nintendo is leaving me dry here and with nothing at all to look forward to for the console. It being underpowered wont bode well for its future. Will miss out on many good cross platform games, etc. Simply just not strong enough.
I dont wanna play NBA 2K at 900p 60 fps on the Switch with 360/ps3 era shaders in the game and basic physics, etc. It is just a weak console and that is why it will end up like the Wii U again, Nintendo repeating same mistake of putting woefully underpowered hardware in their console. This isnt the 80's anymore, we want more powerful hardware for our $ as consumers
Then buy a PC is you dont care about portability. Others do care, deal with it.
i think its going to do better than the wiiu. itll have the combined library of the 3DS and wiiu. Mario games (kart, platformers), zelda, metroid, animal crossing, fire emblem, pokemon, monster hunter, square RPGs (though not FF15), splatoon and so on.
worst case scenario i think itll be around Gamecube numbers. N64 numbers would be solid.
but to really rack up the sales they need to make/back exclusive games that appeal to more people. its all japan focused. its all the same style as before. so far there is nothing there to tempt people who didnt buy a wiiu and/or 3DS over. this is the key thing.
at the end of the day we can talk about specs and blah de blah. it doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. if it gets the games that grab peoples attention then it will sell.
Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders Sold Out
This didn't happen for the Wii U. That's already a sign that it's going to outperform the Wii U quite comfortably.
Nintendo is putting a limited number of consoles on stores to give people a false sense of popularity. They did the same with the NES classic. Its a toymaker strategy. Dont be fooled
The biggest question with Switch is if it will be getting great games in 2020 and beyond or will end up yet another Nintendo , life in support too early product , great sales or not. Thats the biggest bet for them imho that many seems to bypass because they see a ZELDA or MARIO title and forget everything else.
Wii U suffered from terrible launch titles, and a very unclear message - hell, us "experts" in the forums didn't even know there was a new console at the initial unveiling, it looked like just a gamepad accessory.
I remember the advertising for Wii U being an utter disaster because of brand confusion.
I dont see why Skyrim is a big selling point here? Why is For Honor, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Resident Evil Biohzard, Mass Effect Andromeda not shown off? Games coming out this year that would work portably as well as on the TV would be a huge selling point here but its not happening.

You care about portability okay, so why didn't Nintendo put a better SoC inside the Switch(a better SoC means better perf/and battery life), there are currently SoC's on the market atm that outperform the X1, why did Nintendo skimp out on the SoC especially by downclocking the X1 inside compared to the Shield TV?
Once again though with the lack of power, Nintendo is shunning out a big section of the gaming market with their console hardware and also game offerings, guess they will deal with it though
Deal with it we will. Everything happens for a reason. They used what they did to achieve what they did at the price they did.
People said the same thing about the Wii before it was released.
The thing about the Switch is, if it scratches the right itch for people, and generates word of mouth, it'll go kaboom commercially.
As someone who grew up on Playstation and has spent a majority of my last few years playing Xbox One, I am excited for the Switch. I wasn't excited for the Wii or the Wii U, but Nintendo caught my attention with the Switch. If they can push out Metroid, Zelda, Mario and others, they'll have a sale from me which is something they haven't gotten since the Gamecube and 3DS.

One thing's for sure is at least I'm not tasteless like them.

Define your taste in games
It's a WiiU 2.0 for sure. Nintendo just doubled down on WiiU and made it portable this time. I predict it will flop but do a bit better than the Wii U which is sad especially when I still remember when Nintendo used to make great consoles that weren't secondary.
People are REALLY underestimating what a Zelda game is going to do for this console. Like, completely ignoring every other awesome or at least interesting looking game coming to this thing, Zelda has already guaranteed it will outperform the Wii U.
And people that are ignoring the whole portability thing because it isnt as powerful as the other consoles are silly. Thats a huge aspect of the console and cant just be kicked to the curb.

The answer is probably related to timing more than anything. A game like Resident Evil 7 has been in development for years - likely well before any developers received the Switch dev kits (or even knew what the Switch was). We'll either see some of these games get ported later or - more likely - we'll see games that have started development in the last 12 months being potentials for Switch as well as other platforms.
Unfortunately it's not simple, cheap, or easy to port games from one platform to another.
@FireEmblem_Man: At least I play mature games. You on the other hand play a ton of losers' games.
Keep telling that to yourself kid
@FireEmblem_Man: I am not a kid. I am a teenager! And I am far more mature than my peers so don't call me kid.

40 year old virgin confirmed.

A teenager that acts like a child, for saying peoples taste are shit and not yours. That doesn't make you mature

Do my facts hit you hard? It should. I am an elitist gamer and proud of it. Nothing changes that.

What facts? You only voiced your opinion, and I say that you shouldn't attack those that have different taste than you.
@FireEmblem_Man: Yeah right. I'm done talking to you, nintendo fan! I do what i want, I say what I want!
No it might be worse than the wii u. The x1s is 250 with a game and the ps4s is 267 with a game. They both have 3rd party support and a upgrade path for 4k and hdr games.
The switch sucks as a console and the joy-cons are too small for adults. The battery life also sucks and it only runs 720p. Did I also mention it has no games ???
After the FU that was the wii u I can't believe that people will buy a switch. I question the sanity of the sheep. These old guys see zelda and money falls out their pockets it seems. Now the switch has online and it cost money as well. Sheep will buy a nvidia shield with a nintendo brand I got it but I doubt anybody else will.
