[QUOTE="komdosina"][QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]The price come's from three things:
1. The Wii is damn small. It's almost as powerful as the original xbox but its tiny -- costs money
2. Wiimote and Nunchuck Technology
3. Nintendo want's ProfitAll three of these thing's contribute to why the Wii cost's as much as it does.

You must mean this Xbox CPU 733Mhz> Wii CPU 729Mhz and assume its only almost as powerful.
Yet the Wii's GPU is 243Mhz> to the Xbox's 233Mhz, and more importantly there is the difference in RAM.
Xbox uses 64Megs total of unified SDRAM, the Wii uses 64Megs of GDDR3 SDRAM (similar to the 360's RAM), and it also uses in the graphics pakage 24Megs of speedy 1T-SRAM plus another 3Megs of embedded texture RAM in the GPU itself.
That's a total for the Wii of 88Megs RAM along with 3Megs embbeded in the GPU vs the Xbox's single 64Megs of RAM.
While only a little more, in overall terms the Wii is more powerful then an Xbox. So yeah little more power then an Xbox in a small pakage does make the Wii cost more to make then what people give it credit for.

Show me one Wii game that looks better than Halo 2 or ninja gaiden black...

on the wii being a gamecube...theres a bit more in there that just GC hardware in fairness. the design is the same as a GCs but it has had extra ram and faster parts added accross the board. to call it just a GC is uderselling it. also factor in the added stuff the GC never had..like built in wireless (a 90 euro addon for the 360), built in flash memory, the SD card reader, a far more sophisticated OS and all that other little stuff and it mounts up. then theres the controllers themselves. the wii also comes with a game (quite a good one too). neither the PS3 or the 360 do that as standard. i not saying that nintendo are struggeling to make a profit from each unit sold or anything..they certainly are making a profit and a tidy one at that.but i dont think there completly taking the piss with the price...i think its fair for what ure getting.
i do wish they added a bit more umph to it in the CPU department....and a bit more ram....it would have really hit the sweet spot then imho. but anyway.
on online....there slowly getting better. mario kart has a great online system. the only thing it really lacks (and it is a big issue) is coms..if it had that then we would be sorted. thankfully coms is a very easy fix for the wii. its just a case of nintendo getting the foot out.
on 3rd parties. they will never ever out bid sony or MS on big titles...ever. despite all the money there making...ninty are still a relatively small company. if sony want to deny ninty the next metal gear or the enxt big FF title then it will be denied. theres no point in nintendo even trying to go after those titles..they dont have the clout.
what we are beginning to see on wii though is some great stuff or potentially great stuff from smaller devs or lesser known teams in big companies...new guys trying to make a name for themselves. titles like losts winds on wiiware, deadly creatures, mad world, no more heros, boom blox and so on. titles that just arent feasible on a PS3 or 360 due to cost. ninty have also been working alot better with 3rd parties compared to the N64 days.
on the first party front...i think ninty have done all they could so far. they have released alot of the big guns already (a metroid, mario and zelda in the space of 1 year is unheard of). 3rd parties need to do better though. were starting to see some interesting stuff pop up and hopefully we hear more at e3 and other conventions throughout the year. on the 3rd party side, i think we can forget about getting the established big games on wii though (which is why its great to have more than 1 platform :D). the wii disgusts epic...they wont touch it. crytek are playign around with it but i dont expect it will turn into a product, square are set on the next big FF being on the PS3 and R* dont seem to be remotely interested in a GTA for wii...just PS2 ports. i think we will see alot more "out there" games on wii from 3rd parties in the future though. games that just wouldnt work on a PS3 or 360.
i think ure being a bit too harsh TC. yes things need to improve on the 3rd party and online front..absolutely and i do hope that they will show some more stuff for all markets at E3...not just focus on a new wii___ title. but so far i think nintendo have done a very comendable job with the wii so far. their own titles are mostly of a very high quality (even wii fit is good for what it is) and their relatiosn with 3rd party devs are much much better than during the N64 and early GC days.
So the other day I saw you lump all XBL users into the "10 year old foulmouthed racist" group and now a Wii hate thread?
What's happened here, did you get tired of your status as last credible cow?

Dude you would rather play Super Mario SUnshine instead of SUper Mario Galaxy?jg4xchamp
you're comparing a console that has already had a full gen to gather a good library of exclusives to a console that has only been out for 2 years.Shinobishyguy
you're not being harsh. It's basically a gamecube. The Wii is basically a Gamecube... with the only major differences being that the Wii is actually selling really well, and it has a new, unique controller.
The hardware is pretty much the same, even Miyamoto said that. That's fine, but then why is the Wii so expensive? I like the idea of not focusing on graphics (as it can lead to disasters like Lair, and most other big games this gen are just short lived experiences that fade into obscurity quickly, Ubisoft being the biggest culprit I think) but how about giving consumers good value for their money, Nintendo?
Then we've got the online, which isn't worth mentioning so I won't bother discussing it. The most important thing here is games and once again, Nintendo aren't working to get big 3rd party games on their system. Where is all that money going? To more marketing? Why not get KH3 exclusive? I think that's a game that could work better on Wii than other systems.
Believe it or not, I don't intend to bash the Wii. I just expect more from the top selling console of the generation. It's not good value for money and it doesn't have enough great titles from both 1st/3rd party developers to be the #1 console on the market. Game-wise, it's not doing better than the PS3 and 360 (or PC) and it should be, right?
I think Nintendo have done heapsof things better than Sony and MS this gen, but they're still the same old Nintendo when it comes to 3rd parties. I really think Nintendo needs to send out a message at E3 that they are actively pursuing 3rd parties for big games. What I don't want to see is an E3 centered around another Wiifit. The big guns for the Wii have already been released (SMG, Zelda, MP, SSBB) and Nintendo need to show us that they've still got plenty of fuel.
What do you guys think? Am I being too harsh, or do you also expect a bit more from Nintendo this gen?

Thats kind of Ironic seeing on how Lair's biggest problem wasnt its graphics but the focus of motion controls.
no, it was just a bad game. they came out with a patch to play it with regular controls and it still sucks.
