The Wii Is Excellent (56k of sub HD resolution)

I know that the Wii gets a lot of hate in system wars, and this I do not really understand. It has its limitations, yes, and it would be foolish to deny this fact, but it also has major upsides that tend to get ignored. In my opinion, it is impossible this generation to live with just one console. It was pretty impossible last generation, too.

There are some key reasons on why owning a Wii is worth it. I am not trying to force my opinion down anyones throat, you are quite welcome to say that the games are not to your taste, or that you value other qualities that other consoles better provide. However, I just want to highlight some of the titles that may get overlooked, and pump up the ones that definitely havent, too.

So, my first reason to own a Wii: The resurrgence of 2D games that hark back to the NES era of simple but excellent gameplay and wonderful artistry.

Wario Land: Shake It!

Super Paper Mario

My second reason to own a Wii: WiiWare is home to some of the most experimental, and simply the best games, this generation.

Lost Winds

Paper Mario was a terrible game, you spent an hour of just characters talking and hardly any gameplay at all, it was soooo boring.

A third reason: Excellent local multiplayer games.

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Trauma Center: New Blood

Number 4: Excellent controlls for racing and sports games, the best arcade experience in those genres.

Meh. 2D sidescrollers on consoles have lost their appeal to me. The only 2D games I still play these days are RPGs, and even then that's only on handhelds.

I don't like Mario or Zelda games & I hate motion controls, therefore the Wii doesn't appeal to me.

Isn't it a little pointless to own a console merely for reminiscing on classical 2D gaming? If it were up to me, I'd rather have Nintendo lose the console war till they become purely a game developing company. That way we get all these good 2D games on 360 and/or ps3 instead.

The thing is, it doesn't work the other way around. If Sony and M$ burns and become a pure game developer, we're not gonna get hardcore graphically intense games on the Wii, or any future Nintendo console, assuming Nintendo stays true to their marketing strategy. if they do change their strategy, means they have just been talking out of their arse all this time.

Lol? YouwantNintendo to become a game developer? Nintendo has much more experience in console gaming than sony and especially microsoft ever had.

but yeah, I like how the Wii has some appealing side scrollers- that is actually really cool IMO.

Motion controls do not play a big role in games as I've said before. Unless you have arthritis, you should have no problem moving your arms.

My main beef with the Wii is that most of the games I've tried don't really use the Wiimote's motion sensor to the standard of Twilight Princess and Wii Sports.

I agree, the wii has too much haters. I dont get it, is it because It doesnt have Uncharted 2? Gears of war 2? Halo 3? Assassins creed... The wii is a great console, if others dont agree they shouldnt bash it...

And if you ask me, playing a gold game on any other console but the wii is just wacky... After Tiger Woods 2010 i'm not playing any more gold games on any console other than the wii!
