If it was such a gimmick, then why did the company that dominated for all of the past two gens throw it into there controller weeks before E3? Because they knew Nintendo had something with there pad.

smartest post in this thread yet.

Or that maybe Sony realized that gimmicks sell consoles. It just realized it a little too late.

Gimmicks sell consoles?, so Sony have been using gimmicks to create the PS1 and PS2 without realizing it?

How is that an argument for the idea that gimmicks sell consoles?

The PS1 and PS2 sold really well, and since gimmicks sell consoles....

What do you think was (were) their gimmick(s)?

i don't know, you said gimmicks sell consoles, you tell me what their gimmicks were.

Get ready folks, this next line is going to getcha:

The Wiimote can add tons of great things to gameplay.

I like the Wiimote, it's a major improvement over duel analog sticks.  But, unfortunately, it is being marketed as a form of innovation, being used in the most shallow and derogatory ways, and is not suitable for many genres.

The PS3 has motion sensing and by the end of the year the PS2'll have a better but basically the same tool like the Wii's so the Wii can't compete with the PS3. Unfortunately the 360 loses out on motion sensing du to M$ sucking. Sorry 360 fanboys!

Maybe it wasn't because of gimmicks that they sold well?

[QUOTE="web966"]Zelda has complex controls and it played great with the Wiimpte.purplemidgets

I completely disagree.

The controls felt tacked on. Especially during combat.

I've played both versions, I preferred the Wiimote version, felt much more natural

since when was complex user interfaces a good thing? the goal of ppl that design these things is to make them less complex and easier to use.
