LOL all of you LOLing VGChartz and in denial. Happy New Year! At least you had the Wii take the lead for 5 years for Nintendo. Now it's obvious that it wont with the Wii U. You who are Nintendo Die Hard fans will like the Wii U though.

Do you realize that VGChartz's numbers are often far off base, until official numbers are released? I'm guessing "no".

A Machine for Pigs hasn't come out yet, so it's still technically new. However we've already seen lots of it so it's definitely not a first look.
Well the PSVita isn't doing much better. The PSP is outselling the PSVita right now. What do you have to say about that? PSVita is a failure too I guess. If a PS4 came out and did this badly I would say it's a failure in a BIG BIG way. If the PS4 came out now it would probably would be way outselling the Wii U and the 360.

The Wii and Wii U combined didn't sell even 100,000 and the PS3 sold 138,000. So the PS3 is outselling both.

Denial and shifting the topic to utter BS at me wont change anything.
VGChartz numbers are not accurate. It's like a guessing game with those guys. They are constantly under-tracking and over-tracking on both hardware and software. Their numbers are reevaluated every time they find new resources that they think is accurate. Take those numbers with a grain of salt. The PS2 outsold the Xbox 360 for some time after the 360s release.carlisledavid79
This is a dumb excuse.
PS2 was $99 at release. XBOX 360 was like $399. Huge gap in prices is what kept the PS2 selling.
The Wii-U is only $50 more than the 7-8 year old competition. Albeit the holiday bundles definitely made the old systems a better deal this Christmas, it's still not the same thing as $99 vs $399. Price is not a reason for it's failure to even compete with the ancient systems, because the other systems are not yet slashed like the PS2 and Gamecube were at the very end of last gen (i.e. $99 MSRP, but even less if you were smart). The reason Wii-U failing is because of TERRIBLE marketing, total confusion that the Wii-U is actually a new system, Rumours about how "weak" the hardware is, Actual performance that seems to support that the hardware is very weak. Basically the original Wii was a fad system, and undoubtedly the flop of the Wii-U reflects that the fad is long dead. Perhaps there is also blowback from "core" gamers that bought the Wii and ended up being left out in the cold for most of last gen.
That being said, when WIi-U gets the inevitable Mariokart, Mario 3D, Zelda, Metroid, etc it will surely start to take off a little and "win" some months. However as a 3rd party platform it seems like it will be a ghost town yet again, that was a pretty easy prediction to make...
Pretty sure the WiiU isn't doing too bad http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2013-01-11/nintendo-gains-as-new-wii-u-sales-beat-predecessor.htmlWell at least you had the highest console sales with the Wii for about 5 years. You enjoyed it while it lasted, I guess.

I'm assuming you meant $299.
Never mind, upon further reasoning, I assume you meant the 360's release. You might want to clarify.
I'm not sure what is confusing (since I said XBOX 360 in what you quoted).
PS2 vs XBOX 360 = $200 or $300 difference. XBOX 360 was literally 3 or 4 TIMES the cost of the PS2. This is why the PS2 kept it's momentum and continued to sell like hotcakes for awhile.
XBOX 360 vs Wii-U = $50 or $100 difference.
By this measure people should be jumping all over the Wii-U system because it's a brand new "next gen" system for just a SLIGHTLY higher price than the so-called previous generation. But I don't think it's being perceived by people as next gen, and among the general population they might not have a clue about Wii-U at all...
The PS 4 and Nextbox will be sold out for months and months. Ebay average price will probably be $1000.If a PS4 came out and did this badly I would say it's a failure in a BIG BIG way. If the PS4 came out now it would probably would be way outselling the Wii U and the 360.
clr84651
360 was almost impossible to find for the first 6 months after launch. This was before Halo 3 and Gears.Has it not failed already as its still in competition with the 360 and PS3 instead of 720 and PS4? :P
g0ddyX
One should not solely depend on sales since no solid big Nintendo games have come out yet on it I think.

i'll put this in the simplest terms: vgchartz is not accurate. quit citing them as a resource.why so many people defend the thing and loling vgchartz? Yes, they aren't exactly accurate but do you think wiiu managed to sell130k more and surpassed ps3? No... WiiU sales are sh!t, get over it this is not Wii all over again.
Well in a year the Hype for the next Sony and Microsoft system are most likely going to hurt the Wii U more then it's already hurting, but maybe the Wii U will be able to get an interesting game by then even though it's still going to be a cheap gimmick.Too early to judge. At least one year is needed after the launch. Unko Buri Buri.
Unko_Sound
The console just came out and has no games. What do you expect. It can't be judged for at least 6 months to a year in.

Laugh all you want. But the Wii U is failing on all console sales charts. A new console should be outselling the 7 and 8 year old ones and it's not coming even close.
Ps2 sold more than the 360 for the first 2 years of the 360's life, it's nothing new, Most people are not early adopters, saying that, with announcements that major 3rd party titles like crysis 3 not coming to the wii-u i am surprised it's selling at all they won't get away with a lack of third party support this generation. I fogot, Lol VGchartzI don't think the Wii U will have the success that the Wii had, because it isn't appealing to the soccer moms like the Wii was. My stepmom owns a Wii for Wii Sports and Wii Fit and she has already stated that she has no interest in the Wii U. I'm thinking this will probably be the case amongst a lot of the audience that bought the Wii.
Now I don't think the Wii U will fail, but I think it will be closer to the PS3 and 360 numbers this gen.
I saw someone said that there is room for all of them to do good because the industry is growing, but that isn't true at all. Sales were down like 22% this past year for videogame sales. Look at all the studios that have closed over the last few years. The industry isn't growing, and with the development costs rising every gen, it makes it harder for new studios to develop games.
I think this gen will be a much more even with none of them reaching Wii numbers. I could be wrong though.
Wii U didn't fail, Nintendo did.
They designed the system to be a PS3/360 tier port machine, but that obviously didn't pan out the way they intended, what we get now is the scraps of the abandoned strategy.
Should have been weaker & thus cheaper. Never trust 3rd parties again.
I've never heard nintendo mention 3rd party as little as this time around. I don't think that they are counting on 3rd party at all.Wii U didn't fail, Nintendo did.
