[QUOTE="SuperFlakeman"]I've never heard nintendo mention 3rd party as little as this time around. I don't think that they are counting on 3rd party at all. it might be a port-station at the moment but the wii u is still getting WAY more support then the wii did during it's launch window.Wii U didn't fail, Nintendo did.
They designed the system to be a PS3/360 tier port machine, but that obviously didn't pan out the way they intended, what we get now is the scraps of the abandoned strategy.
Should have been weaker & thus cheaper. Never trust 3rd parties again.

Wii U will sell much worse late this year when both real next gen consoles are out. That will probably be the time when it dies...

At that point Wii U will have games while X720 and PS4 will be in the same boat Wii U is now. People either buy a console at launch (because they can't help themselves) or they wait until it has amassed a small library of great games. The period in between typically sees mediocre sales. Why are you people too stupid to see this?
[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]Shipped, or sold? Because I'd wager that a sizeable chunk of those 2.2 million units are sitting on store shelves right now. Nintendo doesn't care either way. And I'll wager that's sold, based solely on NPD.2.2 million units in three months with no killer apps is failing?

Wii U most likely won't fail, there are just way to many bozo's out there who will flock as soon as the next Zelda, Smash Bros, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Metroid, Mario 3D come out. I can't wait for the war between PS4 and 720, now THAT will be interesting!!!

WEAKER???? You are kidding right?
If they had taken the same (or even slightly better) hardware, ditched the touch pad, and made it $199 and called it "Super Wii" or "Wii - HD" it would have been FAR better from my point of view. I think one of those names would have caused less confusion that it was actually an all new console... and Super Wii kind of draws a line back to the Super Nintendo. So I think there might have been a nostalgia factor that could have caught on. They absoultely BLEW IT in naming this thing the Wii-U. Unfortunately without they touchpad then they wouldn't have had a "gimmick" to sell. However to take even MORE out of the hardware, but keep the touchpad, would have been completely the wrong move. A big knock against the console right now is it's already "too weak" hardware.
I don't have anything against the idea of the touchpad controller either, although it would have been nice to have a much longer lasting battery and better screen. The failing of the Wii-U is that they made too many compromises. THey cut costs on the touch pad. They cut costs on the power of the console. Yet the final product is still $299/$349 and too close to the existing "HD twins"...

Nah, but you can find any source to counter any other source http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-01-11/nintendo-gains-as-new-wii-u-sales-beat-predecessor.html I don't know how Nintendo is doing. Frankly, I don't care. as long as they stay in business. Here is an artical to back up your claim....Wii U fails hard.

From the article:
No matter how weak the Wii U sales are now, they are likely to get worse. The launch dates of key games seem to be slipping from March quarter to June quarter, including the important Pikmin, Wario and Wii Fit franchises. The Wii U now must depend on Rayman and Lego City in coming months.
Pic from the article with the caption "Sad Mario Costume" says it all:
Garbage article. Doesn't take into account the holiday and post holiday sales hike, etc. Here is an article to back up your claim....Wii U fails hard.

Laugh all you want. But the Wii U is failing on all console sales charts. A new console should be outselling the 7 and 8 year old ones and it's not coming even close.
Ps2 sold more than the 360 for the first 2 years of the 360's life, it's nothing new, Most people are not early adopters, saying that, with announcements that major 3rd party titles like crysis 3 not coming to the wii-u i am surprised it's selling at all they won't get away with a lack of third party support this generation. I fogot, Lol VGchartzOh look, its the guy that thinks PS2 was direct competition to 360 lol. But anyway, PS2 outsold 360 because it was 1/4 to 1/3 the price of it. Theres no excuse here Lem.

NSMBU is a sucessor to a game that outsold SMG 5 to 1. I think its safe to call NSMBU a killer app. Its just that Wii U doesnt have the same initial appeal as the Wii did. Nintendo shouldve made the machine more powerful.

DarkLink77
It only sold 52,000 last week worldwide. The PS3 sold 138,000 worldwide and the 360 sold more than the Wii U did. So it is failing, because any system that is 6-7 years newer than it's competitors should be selling much more than it's competitors. I guarantee if a PS4 or Xbox 3 had came out either one would be slaughtering the competition.

PS4 will win if it is released before or at the same time and it is within $100 price range of Xbox 3. Especially if they keep online free and have better hardware again.

I think it's less power (it's significantly more powerful than the 360 and the PS3) and more the fact that it's a new console, and there aren't that many console-selling games for it at the moment.[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]

I doubt that very much.People just know that the 720 and PS4 are right around the corner, and that the Wii-U isn't much better graphically than the 360 or PS3. It would've sold much better if it wasn't for the stupid tablet controller gimmick driving the price up so high. IMO, Nintendo should start selling the Wii U at a loss and try to make up for it with software sales, but they need to get more first party titles out there first.. I'm guessing that they'll drop the price by about $100 this November, when the 720 and PS4 hit the market. I'm going to get one when the price drops to $200 and Zelda hits the shelves...The Wii-U is the second console in a row failing (being the VITA the 1st).... Will this become a pattern to the upcoming XBox and Playstation or is it just a phase?
Ricardomz
Yeah well look in the latest game informer at the upcoming Wii-U title releases, there are almost no popular 3rd party titles that are on PS3 and 360, it's all the cartoony kiddy crap again. I thought this more powerful Wii-U hardware was going to get more 3rd party support, but there is none in sight.Slimmin360
injustice god among us...superior version with easy 2nd screen touch combos.
aliens colonial marines- best version..game was practically made for the WiiU (alien sensor)
walking dead- is coming to wiiU ..best version "Gamble said developer Terminal Reality wanted to "augment" the game on Wii U rather than alter it. That augmentation comes via "more streamlined" inventory management on the GamePad. "
