@AtariKidX: Not coming to Wii U.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
And it has sold about 3(.something) million units over the course of each of those years :P
It's sold 10.5 million units total, so a little over that.
@mesome713: Will it? Last I heard the Vita was around the 12 million mark :P gonna take a while to see who is the worst selling machine of the gen xD
Vita sales stand at 10.2 million.
@Desmonic: Wont be long, even though Vita has been out longer and its much cheaper, Wii U will still destroy it.
Lolno. Wii U will stop being sold some time next year, and come to a stop at around 11, maybe 12 million units. The Vita will be around for another few years at the very least.
@charizard1605: Mauahahaha, Wii U will pass that this holidays.
With quality games like Amiibo Party and Ultra Smash, yes.
@charizard1605: With games like Skylanders, Lego Jurassic World, Yoshi Wooly World, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and yes, games like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, parents love games that use Amiibos.
Parents still buying Mario Party 10.
@silversix_: Xenoblade Chronicles X surpasses all them games. Also it has Batman Arkham City which looks purdy. Need for Speed Most Wanted uses PC version i think and cant run on last gen. Also Bayonetta 2 ;)
And dont forget Mario Kart 8. Super Smash Bros and Pikmin 3 couldnt run on last gen either.
So you really think a game of its scope is better looking than the games i've mentioned? Fanboy Goggles, turn that setting down. Xeno doesn't even look better than FF13, let alone the games i've mentioned. The game looks flat like an mmo would. its the scale that's impressive and certainly not its ugly visuals. None of the other games mentioned are anywhere near close to those i posted... A mario game better looking than KZ3? Really? lolokay.
@silversix_: Dont hate cause they look visual better.
better art style? Maybe. Then again, that's an opinion. Technically superior (graphics wise)? Hell to the nope.
@AtariKidX: Metroids in time out, she was naughty last gen.
Seriously......WiiU needs a Metroid game.
Metroid and F-Zero (no, not that knock off, Fast Racing Neo).

lol, ok

Yeah, sorry mate, i have to disagree, them games cant run on last gen.
@charizard1605: I don't know why I thought Ultra Smash Bros instead of Mario Tennis when you said that
Not a great console by any means, but easily my favorite console of the gen.
I'm hoping (but not expecting) that Zelda U can be some game of the gen material. The WiiU is flush with some good exclusive content, even a game or two that I'd consider great, but Nintendo has yet to deliver on a masterpiece for this console. Every console cycle they release at least one title that makes most other devs look wildly inferior. At least one game that's like "yep, Nintendo still runs this shit." Hopefully they can still come through.
Also, where the **** is mah WiiU Metroid? Is that even still a thing? Seems like a no brainer really. Not only has it been a long time since we've seen a great Metroid game, but it also seems like a perfect fit for the tablet.
Certainly Nintendo hasn't made a game that was both revolutionary and perfectly crafted, but DK tropical freeze is a 2D platforming masterpiece. I can only levy the smallest of criticisms against it. Wii U's devoid of an epic adventure though, and even if Zelda is that amazing adventure (doubtful), it won't even be exclusive.
I'm also keeping my expectations in check for Zelda. Zelda hasn't even begun to approach classic status since the N64 era. I'm expecting a good game for sure, but i'm also wary after skyward sword. The padding in that game could potentially be magnified in an open world Zelda 10 fold, but at least it's safe to say this new one will go heavy on the hand holding.
As for Metroid, i'm honestly happy Wii U's not getting one. Not happy we're not getting a Metroid for a few years, but graphically a Wii U MP would surely be disappointing, and I don't want the gamepad to sully a potential comeback. Gameplay wise, the thought of scanning shit with the gamepad seemed cool to me for a bit, but it'd surely get old fast. One reason i'm not picking up star fox is because of its insistence on using the gamepad.
Metroid will hopefully be back with a vengeance on NX though, prime style. Same goes for F-zero, a true 3D Mario, paper Mario etc. etc.
It's a shame, it should have been the console of choice this gen. Unfortunately the lack of third party developers and online standards prevented that.
Nintendo brought the innovation and more first party games. Also at least they aren't pretending their console is powerful like MS and Sony are. So you don't expect anything big. With the others I felt like knocking on the consoles 'HELLOOO... generational leap, are you in there?'.
At some points, I should've stay with just 3DS this gen but I got the damn thing to play just Bayonetta 2 and SSB alone but I will say this, I'm glad I waited to buy Wii U when I got Mario Kart 8/Wii U bundle last year with a free game same of choice, so the wait was worth it when there's a deal in the making. Happy 3rd anniversary Wii U.
Edit: My daughter loves the Wii U the most.
I just bought one today! I'm having a ton of fun with it!
Congrats, what game are you playing?
Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World at the moment. SMM was a game I had absolutely no interest in when announced because the concept was basically LittleBig Planet which isn't very well executed and has turned into a game that I ended up playing all night last night. It's probably this year's biggest surprise.
The wii u is one of the worst consoles of all time and it has NO games.
Nintendo fanboys are delusional and need to accept reality which is...
In the real world, the average person does NOT like nintendo's games. I know you can't possibly fathom this, but 99% of people don't like the games nintendo makes. The only people who do is nintendo's hardcore fanbase which is drastically decreasing every gen. You need to understand WHY the average person does NOT like nintendo's games. Believe it or not, but nintendo makes mediocre games for children and most people can see that. They don't want to play childish barebones simplistic gameplay with no AI, story, lack of content, terrible online, cartoon graphics, no voice acting, tons of reading, long introductions and hand holding among plenty of other reasons.
You need to quit spreading the MYTH that the wii u has an amazing library of games. It does NOT. Do I really need to go through this again with you guys?
Mario Kart, Smash, Pikmin are the same old stuff you played 15 years ago. How anyone gets excited for these games again is beyond me.
NSMB is a gloried port. Zelda WW is a port. SM3DW is a bigger version of a 3DS game/port.
Donkey Kong, Yoshis Whooly World, and Kirby are mediocre side scrollers no one cares about.
Captain Toad is a glorified mini game collection.
Splatoon is meh. At least they tried, but the consoles horrible online hold it back.
Wii u's future looks horrible. Zelda TP PORT, New Zelda which will end up on NX anyway, Star Fox looks like a terrible N64 game with 1-3 hour single player.
The wii u will NOT end up a cult classic like you fanboys think. Stop comparing it to the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast had NEW games in every genre. It had a great library of NEW NEVER before done games like Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur etc. The wii u has OLD games, Rehashes, Ports of the same old stuff you played on SNES, N64, Gamecube and wii + the handhelds.
Are you seriously going to pretend the wii u hasn't suffered massive 8-12 month long game droughts? Why are nintendo fans so content on playing 1-2 games per year?
I just can't believe how crazy you guys are saying garbage like "The wii u has the best exclusives". It doesn't. Why can everyone else on the planet see how mediocre nintendo's games are but you fanboys can't? You know you are lying to yourselves.
Even with my substantially lowered expectations, it is not what I wanted it to be.
Meh, I can't say I rue getting it, but overall it was a colossal disaster.
And it's already dead. Third parties abandoned it shortly after launch and Nintendo abandoned it after Mario Maker.
This is false- since Mario Maker, it has got, and will get, Fatal Frame V, Devil's Third, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Animal Crossing Amiibo Party, Yoshi's Wooly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Star Fox Zero, Pokken Tournament, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem and The Legend of Zelda. A few of those are trash, but the back half of that list isn't half bad.
nathandrakeswag got owned. He's just mad cause he only has multiplats on his placate station quatro.
Three years old and not a single game approaches Halo 4, KZ2 (an old ass game mind you), KZ3, GOW3, TLOU, gears 3, UC2, UC3 etc etc etc in visuals. More powerful my butthole.
You're insane. Have you SEEN Bayonetta 2? Which scored higher than all those games. And stop playing graphics and start playing games. You'll be happier I promise.

Or Nintendo finally responds to all this short coming, gets their Mario or Zelda or whatever for launch year stuff, but really focuses on bringing in new IP to the table. I'm perfectly content with Metroid never making a comeback if it means Nintendo finally begins doing new things more aggressively.
Wish it was a better system, i love Nintendo, so much so that if their Nintendo NX proves to be a colossal beast with great hardware and 3rd party support, i would trade my PS4 in on it.
Thats how much i'm hoping Nintendo will make a comeback and reclaim it's lead in the console wars, that it's seemed to have lost over 20 years ago.
@mesome713:
What made you compare Wii U sales to the GCN while ignoring the Wii? My guess is such a comparison would make the Wii U's sales look so bad excuses wouldn't even help.

I didnt want to hurt PS4 and Xbox Ones feelings by bringing up how Wii sold faster then both put together.

The game is truly amazing, Yoshi Woolly World is also awesome, i fell in love with Poochy and hes one of my favorite Nintendo characters now. That game is so fun messing around and throwing yarn balls.
I'm picking one up over Black Friday next week. I'm only getting it for a select few games, so hopefully it doesn't fail to meet my already lowered expectations.
Any good deals? I'd like to get a WiiU for cheap.
It's a pitiful console.
This
Set a record for longest period of time with no software.
It destroyed Nintendo, made therm resort to making toys again, showed that they were nothing but liars and changed to a mobile game company, and it made it's fans leaves in droves.
I love it :)
The Wii U is a great system imo...lots of great titles..and the backwards compatibility with Wii made it purchase worthy for me. So, Happy 3rd Birthday!
I didnt want to hurt PS4 and Xbox Ones feelings by bringing up how Wii sold faster then both put together.
The only reason you ignored the Wii sales is because it will show how far down the Wii U has slid from the days of its predecessor. Without looking at numbers, I'm sure the Wii sold multiple times the number of Wii U consoles in three years. Tell us the number of Wii's sold during its first three years on the shelves.

No thanks, if you want it so bad THEN JUST DO IT! Release the Kraken!

I don't have to list the numbers because I didn't pick and choose which comparisons to make in an attempt to put the Wii U in a more favorable position. Your ignoring of the last generation puts a serious dent in your credibility.
@Solaryellow: Dang, that sucks, and here i thought my credibility was on the rise. O well, better luck next time.
@stuff238:
Also the Dreamcast, even after its 16 year NA launch and 17 years after its Japanese launch, the system is STILL receiving support from indie developers. Now that's Hardcore.

I didn't get owned at all. Every game on that list except for Yoshi, Xenoblade, and Zelda are or look mediocre at best.

Well,that's your mediocre opinion.
WiiU will go down in history as one of the worst consoles of all time, even with its handful of good games.
