The Witcher 2 doesn't look all that great.

This is from a pretty new video preview at Gametrailers. It sets more realistic expectations for this game's graphics.

Also, it looks like the Witcher 2 will continue its particular brand of awkward dialogue and swearing at inappropriate times.

yeah, I noticed that too. Some others previewers even stated that they had to play at medium setings, and said the game still looked gorgeous.

The game looks fantastic! The guy playing needed to turn on VSync though.

I preordered the stupid crazy $129 collector's edition. Dice, cards, art book, bust of Geralt, DVD's music, maps... man! I haven't been so exited baout a boxed version of a game since the first Baldur's Gate.

It's shapign up to be one of the best RPG's of this gen. That's what everyone's obsession with it is.

Also it's a PC game first. Takes advantage of the advanced hardware on PC's (EVERY reviwer that has gotten their hands on the beta code has commented on how awesome it looks), and takes advantage of the input controls on PC.

So, top notch RPG, exploration, open world with no loading screens, loot, item creation, and PC centric game = PURE AWESOME-SAUCE.

People who've PLAYED IT, say its ****ing awesome looking. People who take screencaps of compressed flash videos, do not. Which opinion should I take?

And it doesn't matter if it looks the same in the video, the video is still a compressed flash video running lower resolution then the game will. Videos, HD or not, have NEVER given games justice. Do you see the ultimate Crysis graphics threads ever showing video? No. Flash compression ruins all. High res images is the closest you will get, and even then, there are random frames that won't look hot. Therefore, playing it is the only way to know for sure, and the high-res images look awesome anyways.

Every preview I've read says its "one of the best looking games ever".

Ergo, your screenshot is irrelevant and comes off as console-jelly.

What do you mean by awkward dialogue? Granted, there was the occassional NPC dialogue mixup, where they'd use different NPC sound clips, or someone would die and a character would respond in monotone "oh, he is dead.". But overall, the voice acting was very high quality.

Also, I think the swearing was awkward because we're not used to hearing swearing all that much in a fantasy game. I mean, occassionally dwarves might use words like "sh*te, arse and b*****d" but that's about it. Therefore, anytime someone dropped a bomb in this game, it felt out of place. But if you read the books, you'll notice the swearing there too. If I'm totally missing the point, tell me. I'd like to know! It'll probably be funny.
