Holy hell that was one of the best cinematics I have ever seen.

Ravenshout

In terms of what? Animation? Detail? The D3 expansion cinematic will blow it away visually.

It's a trailer meant to hype you for the game. not for people to step away from and go "That's some great CG" It achieved what it set out to do which is show a slight scenario from the game and show off what they want you to expect from Geralt's fighting. It's also to hype you for the game and it seems to have worked with many people in this thread

I'm sure if they had a HUGE team with butt loads of money and lots of time to spare they would have done it better like Blizzard do but why bother? The end product won't look like CG so just use decent CG for the trailer and save the money and man hours trying to make it better for finnicky dudes like you who scrutinize every detail

You exaggerate every CGI for the games that you are hyped with. I've been observing this pattern among few gamespotters since the Cyberpunk teaser. Also, Platid Image did this piece, not the developer. So credits to them.

Ravenshout

Nom you made this up back in that thread about Cyberpunk and I called you on it but you kept going on and on ignoring what I said.

I said the Cyberpunk trailer was good cos it got me excited for the game and you went on and one about how poor it was in comparison to Blizzard CG and it was only static figures with not much happeneing. When I said I didn't care how great the CG is you claimed I thought it was better than what Blizzard do and asked me "Do you admit Blizzard does better CG"

You kept going off on these tangents from nowhere and pulling crap out of your ass putting words in my mouth. You even did it in the quoted post above saying " You exaggerate every CGI for the games that you are hyped with" . I never hype CG trailers, I even said I disliked them in a Watch Dogs thread. I just said that the Cyberpunk one made me excited for the game cos it showed me a little of what the game is about.

I thought it was quite well made and beautiful too, not just cool (though you are right there).

No you stop. You are always spouting the same crap over and over again whenever there's a new CGI for any game that is not from blizzard. No one gives a flying crap about you or your obsession with blizzard cgi. This thread is not for you and your hard-on for blizzard, so get out.

I've been on gamespot for many years and not once have seanmcloughlin acted like the way you described. You on the other hand repeat the same rubbish over and over again whenever there is a thread about a new game's cgi trailer. It's been a long time since I responded to any of your crap, and the only reason why I'm doing so is because you flat out lie and make up crap.

Pathetic. Grow the hell up.

P.S The trailer looked amazing. Best CGI trailer so far. If you disagree, that's your problem.

What? I praise CGI that is good-looking, be it from Blizzard, Blur, Digic, Axis, or Square's Visual Works.

This one was made by Platid Image. It does not look as good as the most recent CGI from the mentioned studios.

I don't get it. When the Cyberpunk trailer was announced you were pretty much advertising this company and now, now you write that their CGI is inferior?!

Can't wait. Played TW2 partway through on PC, and 1000/1000 gamerscore on 360.

I don´t get this trailer. Geralt was always a grey character, an anti hero. He doesn´t save people for nothing. He just hunts monsters for money and tries to stay off politics.

Why would he save a woman he doesn´t know. I know the scene is tough to look. But this is Middle Ages. The justice wasn´t pretty back then. Will developers will politecorrect this game, introducing western liberal values into a pseudo-history background that shouldn´t have them.

What if she ´s a real murderer and deserves to die. Why interchanging one life for three is a good trade, especially without even knowing the background story of that hanging.

So let me understand this:

Geralt collects his reward, then kills his former employers in order to save a convicted to death murderer. But as she´s a woman, we automatically assume she´s innocent ?

If he walked away, that would be much more interesing twist than a typical hero-to-the-rescue-of-the-maid-in-trouble bullshit.

Conclusion: nice visuals, absurd story and atypical behavior of Geralt of Rivia.

jhonMalcovich

After finishing TW1 and 2 I'm inclined to disagree.

What you're saying applies for earlier Geralt, the one he's "supposed" to be at the start of TW1. The journey he goes through in the games though forces him to get into politics, and after seeing the various conflicts between factions his definition of "monster" slowly shifts, especially after meeting Vincent Meis and the Queen of the Night. He's no longer fighting monsters, but rather, evil. He says all this in the middle of The Witcher 1 I think, when he says evil is no longer the chaos out there to be hunted but it adapted to its environment, imposed laws on itself, hiding in the shadows.

The trailer shows this perfectly.

The controversy surrounding Geralt's character in this trailer is pretty interesting, I didn't think people would be confused as to why Geralt is making a decision to halt the execution of a woman he knows nothing about. Isn't that the whole point of The Witcher games? The player makes decisions that are morally gray, aren't explained from equal viewpoints, and don't end up with black or white results? It could very well be that this woman actually was everything she was accused of being, but Geralt made an impulse decision based only on her cries for help and the barbarism her executors were displaying. And let's not pretend Geralt is a cold, merciless killer who plays mercenary by day and monster hunter by night; he has a moral compass and that's shown in the novels. I thought the trailer did a very good job of potraying the kind of choices you can expect to make in the game as a player. I imagine that, with the open-world setting, there will be many random encounters like this where you're able to choose what to do.

The problem is, the developer didn't pay well enough  for Platid Image to fully spread their wings when making both trailers. CGI is expensive.

Had the developer been Bioware, Bethesda, or Ubisoft, I reckon the trailers would have come out better-looking.

Oh FFS man, the trailer is great, and the game will be great. Sure, CDPR isn't a big company like Blizzard, Bioware, Bethesda or Ubisoft and therefore probably couldn't afford a heavily produced video, but they still did a pretty damn job with this trailer.

Hype is increasing, but that might not be too good since we've seen such little gameplay.  I have faith though.

I cannot wait to play this on PC.

OP you should include this trailer in your post. It has actual footage from the PS4 version. Check it out.
