Hello friends,

So, the PS4 obviously won this gen effortlessly (console wise, stop attempting to stand up PC gamers!)

But I still got an Xbox One, purely for Halo/Gears/Forza/Fable/Rare, and to play online with friends.

And yet, even for the limited use intended, the Xbox One was the most laughably broken piece of sh!t I have ever owned. To give some context, worse than the WiiU. Yes, it's that serious.

Startup: More than twice as long as either PS4 or WiiU (Yes, I timed it)

Game Launch: Repeatedly gives error "Woops, for some reason [GAMENAME] took too long to start!" and quits to dashboard.

Sign-In: About 90% of the time, it signs me in. The other 10%, it says, "Goodbye, Locopath", and makes me manually sign in. Why? And why for so many years? Who knows.

Cache: Constantly complains that there is not enough "cache space", when I specifically keep 20GBs free on the harddrive. I do the clear cache, I do the hard reset, I do it all, nothing helps.

Support: I contact them, they delay, lie and bullshit, and claim my console can't be having these errors.

Achievements: Sometimes it won't give me achievements I HAVE unlocked, sometimes it gives me achievements I HAVEN'T unlocked. It's a roulette wheel.

Halo Collection: Broken, achievements don't unlock, deleted my save file.

Halo 5 and Gears 4: Mediocre games, but at least they saved properly and gave correct achievements.

Gears 5: Seemed cool, deleted my save file, lol.

Minecraft: Constantly wants an update, but won't update. Stuck at 0.0%. Can't be cancelled, OR completed.

Forza Series: Actually works and unlocks achievements, without deleting my save! Praise Jesus!

In summary: this console and it's first party games are so broken that I genuinely think it should be illegal. It should be as illegal as selling rotten meat or fake medicine. The WiiU was weak crap with an empty games library, but at least it turned on, signed in and let the freaking games boot up. The Xbox One can't even do that. Ugh. Hopefully they fail next gen. Thanks System Wars, for letting me rant :)

What the shit are you doing? I just replaced my Pro, as the fans ran 100% at all times when in-game. Is any of this ratified elswhere, or is it solely anecdotal?

@lundy86_4:

Google any of my bullet points, you'll get dozens of Reddit and forum threads confirming others suffered the same.

Obviously not every gamer is getting all of these, I'm assuming I'm just the unlucky bastard who got all of them, but these are all real.

I have been onto support repeatedly, but apart from "Buy a new console" they haven't helped me. This is real, sadly.

And I say this as someone who thinks the X360 was the best 7th gen console.

Well I guess I won the sh!tty lottery then.

Again, I LOVE the X360, I don't hate MS, I think Halo is the best FPS ever, I think Gears is the one of the best TPS ever, I think Forza is one of the best racer ever. But this is the experience I had this gen with them.

And their support basically didn't believe me either, lol.

At least System Wars listens and can't hang up :P

@locopatho: The shit lottery happens, but you have to see that this is crazy... As for support, if it's not under warranty, MS just charge for repair, so why would they just ignore you?

@lundy86_4: It sounds crazy, but all this genuinely happened to me. What can I say except the truth?

As for Support, the hardware isn't broken, it's the software. Again, every single one of my points has dozens of Reddit/forum threads confirming it. I know, cos I Googled every one looking for an answer!

MS support just denied I could hit all these problems, they basically said I'm lying to them and hung up, ha. The last thing they said was buy a new console if I cared so much.

@locopatho: I'm not calling you a liar, by any means, but what you're saying is just out of this world. That being said, something tells me that they didn't say "...buy a new console if I cared so much." They literally make money from repairs, so something tells me that's a little facetious.

You can see how the odds of you getting all these errors are ridiculously slim, right? You could very well be a massive outlier.

So the OP went to Reddit and Google to find all the problems he could to create a thread saying he has ALL OF THEM lol.

And he wants people to take him seriously lol.

Thank you, and I understand how unlikely it sounds. That's why I want to share it here, no one else believes me haha.

No, they didn't, but they did say there was nothing more they could do to help, and their only further suggestion was that maybe a different physical console wouldn't have the same problems.

@lundy86_4 said:

There was nothing to repair, this wasn't a hardware flaw, this was all software. It's the opposite of the X360, where the hardware was crap but the software slick. I didn't mind that. This gen, the hardware is rock solid but the Xbox OS and games are ridiculous.

Getting ALL of these is probably unlikely, sure. But again, Google any bullet point I made, you'll see none of my points are insane, made up or false. Hundreds (thousands?) of gamers suffered every single one.

I do run into some issues with mine .... but the fat PS3 has to be the worst piece of hardware ever.

I've had 3 fail on me. Not one of my other consoles has ever died. (Knock on wood)

Lol. No it wasn't, they literally gave up on me and told me to buy another console. They worded it in nice corporate speak, but the gist was "Screw off, spend another 400 euro if you wanna play Halo". Check any forum, that's the end point of these software issues, "We'll look into it" and nothing ever happens, "Try another console, friend" is the ending.

I am not sure what you are doing but the console and software isn't broken as you adamantly claim. You just have a bad apple. Have you considered just replacing the system?

Well that sucks. I only just recently got a XBX. Not experiencing any of that stuff, just the typical console annoyances. Super slow downloads/updates/installs. Especially those downloads, wtf. Definitely not Xbone exclusive issues tho.

Yeah, this seems really weird. Maybe you inferred something, and ran with it? That's my only take-away if you weren't being facetious. All this seems crazily unlikely.

I have both the ps4 and the playstation, the playstation has a better resolution, and other games, not necessarily better, since I play none of them, and played a lot of the xbox exclusives (or windows exclusives whatever)

But in terms of durability, the xboxone is just vastly better, it runs everyday; all day, it is designed to be your all round multimedia center. the playstation isn't.

I have none of these problems, but I do have a 500 mbps connection, and I don't live in hot or humid climates, it is also put in a space where it can breathe.

But you do need to turn it off once in a while, so it can clear the cache. and that means totally off, not in standby mode. you can also find this easily on google.

and here's a durability test video

What "I am doing" is putting discs into a console to play it, same as my dozen+ other functioning consoles. It IS this broken, and why would I spend another 400 euro on this wrecked system?

What part is false? Google "Gears 5 deleted save", you'll get hundreds of results. Google "Halo MCC glitched achievements", you get thousands of results. No way I can fake that. This ain't a busted disc drive, this is multiple software failures.

Possibly newer models like the XBX don't suffer this. I have an early model. But who knows.

Not being mean, but support people are low paid and reading from a script. If your issue isn't on the script, they can't help. I'm sure it is crazy unlikely to hit ALL of these issues. But all are real.

I definitely know they read from a script, but saying they can't help if it isn't written is nonsensical. There are departments and management they can transfer you to.

----

Regardless, to the overruling point, how can something be illegal, if a minor percentage of the user base experiences the issues? I mean, come on... It's statistically unlikely.

- Low paid script readers (again, not being mean, I've been in that kinda job before) can't troubleshoot complex issues. Just how it is. That was their end state, buy a new system. Again, Google it if you don't believe me. You'll see I'm not the only one.

- It should be illegal to sell goods that don't work. And it is, for most goods. A butcher can't sell 1/100 rotten steaks. A pharmacy can't sell 1/100 dud pills. A car dealership can't sell 1/100 cars that break down in 5 mins. MS shouldn't be able to get away with this shit either. They should have to fix Halo MCC before Halo 5 or 6. Google "MCC bugs", see all the results from the past couple weeks! They don't care, but I hoped gamers would.

None of that is illegal ... as much as i don't lime Xbox One ... it seems that, for the most part, all consoles are working as intended.

  1. Agreed, hence different departments. You said that they didn't tell you to buy a new system. You were being facetious.
  2. The product works. Technical issues arise, much like my PS4 Pro, which got the HDMI head stuck in the port, and it had to be replaced at a cost of $100 to me. Erm, have you ever heard of recalls from car manufacturers?

I'm sorry, but your story is so unbelievably nonsensical, I don't know what to say. You're having issues that nigh-on 99% of users haven't experienced within the same time frame of one another, but then you go on a roll and say that MS said for you to buy a new console, then retract that statement, and then state it again... I'm not sure what to say, or how to help you.

It should be illegal though.

Open a butcher shop and say "for the most part, the meat isn't rotten". Open a pharmacy and say "for the most part, the medicine is real". You'll be arrested in a week.

But in gaming, you can just lie, and steal, and release broken garbage, and it's apparently fine.

That's nothing, every time I turn on my PS4 it starts burning and cockroaches start running from its insides. Then It try to file a report but the internet is always down.

Ha. Fun. All my stuff is real, though.

My PS4 works perfectly, thankfully. As does my X360, weirdly ;)

I’ve had an Xbox One since day one and outside of achievements not popping immediately sometimes I haven’t had any of those issues. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that someone could have all those issues myself. Corrupt save files and the like happen on other systems as well. This all sounds like some melodramatic hyperbole to me.

1. Their literal, exact words were "I'm sorry sir, have you tried the game on a different system?" That's not facetious. That's truth. Their next step was "buy a new system". Google it. It's true. I'm not the only one.

2. It doesn't work for me and MS didn't recall or replace anything for me.

My "story" is factually true. "99% of users [people] haven't experienced" a lightning strike or a lottery win either, that doesn't mean they never happen. You haven't said any of my points are false, you just don't think they could all happen to one person. Well, they did.

I told you the truth, believe me or don't, it doesn't matter. I just want to get this off my chest and tell people not to trust them when the new Xbox drops. Wait and see. They might screw you like they screwed me this gen.

But you do need to turn it off once in a while, so it can clear the cache. and that means totally off, not in standby mode. you can also find this easily on google.

Heh, I've Googled it and I've done it all, man. Done the cache clearing, hard resets, turned on Environmental mode so it fully shuts down, it's still bust in so many ways. Oh well, what ya gonna do.

how long did you turn it off?

Did the Support mandated thing, unplug it, hold for 30 secs, hear the multiple beeps, etc. Didn't work.

you need to turn it off for a halfhour at least, the xboxone has now a certain standby mode, even when in environmental mode, it takes about 10 minutes I think, but just take a halfhour for sure.

I'm glad you haven't suffered these issues, but it doesn't matter if you believe them or not, they ARE real, which you can confirm by Googling :)

I played Gears 5 Act 3 on three separate occasions, it deleted my save file each time. Google it, I'm not the only one :)

  1. That's not what you said... That's also a reasonable expectation. As it stands, they didn't tell you to buy a new system. Your story is all over the show.
  2. I never said that MS would recall your product, but car manufacturers will recall for repair if there is a widespread issue.

Like I said, astronomically slim, so why would you make something illegal, if a failure rate of your level is just way the **** out there?

I’m sorry but “Google It, it’s true” just doesn’t seem like a legit fallback. You could google any one of those issues for any system or game and still probably get results back. Of course you’d have to take all those complaints that people make at face value. Not saying that there aren’t those who actually get those issues but it can be difficult to parse legitimacy from trolling.

The console works fine, the only thing that should be illegal are dumb threads like this.

You're title should be "Xbox One is so broke it should be on welfare"

I don't support this thread due to missed opportunity.

Seems like your issue is link to system stability problems from keeping your HDD full. I noticed with my original that the system responsiveness would decrease with greater utilization with internal HDD, that went away when I got an external HDD. I have had these other issues though, but very rarely.

Things Xbox does better. Ability to juggle games and apps. Digital library management, being able to see all games owned and installed, remove and queue games with ease. Game save data management is also hassle free with cloud sync. The online is a lot more reliable than Sony's, and more robust than Nintendo's. They have BC that honors rights tied to user accounts, neither Sony or Nintendo have BC that honors purchases from other systems and have locked their BC behind subscription services. Game Pass too, great value currently unmatched by the competition.

But I do wish the XB1 had better DVR options, only does 60fps with 4K format but 30fps for everything else.

None of that is illegal ... as much as i don't lime Xbox One ... it seems that, for the most part, all consoles are working as intended.

Yeah .... no, is not the same ... not by a long shot... both food and pharmacy is a health related topic so regulations are much less forgiven, so again ... by pure definition, a single Xbox One out of millions would not guarantee something illegal since is not really a life or death situation. And even then ... some food stores have issues with rotten food every once in a while.

But anyway, aside your terribly and inaccurate metphor ... they aren't really lying nor stealing since most systems are working perfectly fine... not to mention, your situation sounds highly unlikely... so yeah.
