@Juub1990:
Go through this thread, and see who was it that tried to tell someone that a 400 dollar x1x is cheaper than a 500 dollar x1x. Your comparison (not your argument) just got destroyed, and you don't know how to handle ownage.
@ermacness: No the point of the reply was simply to make it simple in saying an ACTUAL X1X is a better value at 400$ than another REAL X1X at 500$ to get the point across that when using strictly metrics and measurable data, we’re not talking about an opinion.
These arguments seem really stupid to me. For $500 its a decent console. I prefer PC and the open platform it brings, but if someone wants to buy teh goddamned pre-built box with a closed ecosystem thats their prerogative.
And I never said the X1X was a bad console. I'm simply saying the performance it offers for its price is nothing to be amazed at.
Personally for me the real deal killer is that you can't have the entire backlog of the PC. If you're going to have it compete with PC it shouldn't just be about the power, but about the games you can play. PC simply has way more and for much cheaper. I'd much rather have a weak PC with steam and the ability to purchase from a variety of sources with actual discounts than an equally priced console with a closed ecosystem that had better graphics. Also the PC will eventually catch up (relative to the cheaper price point) and the next time you build one you get even more games. You never lose the old games. You get better prices on current games. You get mods and you get the community that comes with PC which is a lot more involved with games in general than the console community.
@Juub1990:
How can you dictate what is "value" to someone?
If someone who have a 4k movie that they're wanting to play on said device, that 400 dollar x1x is obsolete in that regard, however the "real" x1x can still be utilized. That's fact, no matter how you try to spin it.
I am going to add something not in the OP's build in particular, but if you were to actually buy that, you could upgrade components down the line, especially the processor.
With PC, if you already have one, you don't need to drop a huge amount of money to have a high end PC. In fact, updating your PC costs about as much as updating console generations given you have other components ready like a decent processor and mobo.
@BassMan: so owning a pc (that was the most expensive machine I bought) isnt enough to be a member of pc club? Unless I own a better cpu and gpu (better than 1050ti g4560 8gb ddr4) then Im not allowed to be happy with my pc and feel like a pc gamer? please tell me the minimum specs to be a pc gamer

You play on PC, yes, but your rig and standards are not enough to be claiming PC Master Race. You should be doing 1080p/60fps for starters.
@ermacness: Which is why we’re strictly arguing performance metrics and game related features. Did you see me talk about video editing software you can use on Windows? Or the fact you can design websites on a computer? No because these aren’t related to gaming.
I strictly argued performance and things that can be measured. The thread really is that for the performance you’re getting, 500$ isn’t an amazing deal for the X1X.
Isn’t it clear by now?
@Jebus213:
Until outlet stop selling media that utilizes optical drives, they're still relevant, even in 2017. Sorry that the real world doesn't see things your way.
lol, using optical drives in 2017. I haven't used an optical drive since 2009.
@Juub1990:
That wasn't how you replied to me earlier. You're right on the performance part only, however just because your "budget" PC statistically performs just as good if not better than the actual x1x doesn't mean that the x1x isn't valuable. It's all a matter of preference.
I had an optical drive in a pre-built HP about a decade ago. Think I used it to burn a few CDs. The good old days.
Not really sure what I'd use one for now though.
@jereb31:
LOL
I'm talking about major outlets like Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, ect..... Nice try though.
Well Target still sells cassettes if that satisfies your niche. https://www.target.com/s/vcr+tapes+vhs+cassette
Still lol at optical drives, sucks you still have to use them bro.

Or you know, Amazon, one of the largest distributors in the world still sells VHS tapes.

Extra lols: They are sony branded :D
@ermacness: But I never said the X1X is worthless. I simply said people overstate the performance you get for the price. It’s still a very decent deal for that price and comes in a much smaller form factoe and is easier to carry around. It also looks much better in a living room.
The point of the thread was simply to say for the same price, a PC can perform in the same ballpark. If somebody had 500$ and none more to spend and wanted to game, I’d absolutely recommend the X1X or PS4. A PC at that price is doing yourself a disservice.
I love the goal post moving.
Every XB1 has shown to be a mediocre 4k bluray player at best, im sure the new one is no different.
If you like movies, you will have a dedicated 4kBR player from Oppo or the likes that actually cares about video & audio quality.
Guarantee most xtards stream 4k rather than buy 4k BRs.
Let's all be honest about this. A PC costs a lot more than a console, which is true but however, I have $1000 worth of games on Steam that only cost about $300. It depends on how many games you buy. If it's 10 games or so, console is probably cheaper, but as the number of games increases into PC starts winning by a massive margin due to cheaper prices per games, even on Steam Sales and plus, PC is online free vs paying online fees on consoles.
PC hardware vs a console used to be a waaaaay bigger price gulf. We were dealing with $200 consoles and $2000 PC's back in the day. And the games all cost the same.
Now we've got monsters like the PS3 costing $600 on launch and PS4 costing $400 on launch, and now, Xbox One X costing $500 while a competent PC is around $600, $800, $1000. You can get PC games for much cheaper than console games (as I already mention above my post) even used console games. And the consoles manufactures want you to pony up cash just for the dubious privilege of using their online services, which can double the hardware price over the course of it's lifetime.
All in all, it really depends if you are the type of person who wants to save lots of money when buying games, then PC is for you but if not, go buy a Xbox One X if you are cool what your getting at for $500.
Funny how this place has turned into budget wars.
If the price is that important, why not just stick with or buy a regular Xbone instead? Or a PS4? Why get the X1X if it's all about saving up those extra pennies? At what point does the price limit stop being worth it for better hardware, is $500 the magic number?
When given the option I will take my entertainment on a physical format nearly all the time. The fact that I can still get so many games on a physical format is a very big reason why I greatly prefer consoles right now. I also prefer getting my movies on a physical format as well so the Xbox One X having a 4K UHD player in it is a huge plus for me and I’m very grateful that Microsoft has included one in there system.
the exact opposite of what the media has been saying. Hmm who to believe...
Yea because 2016/2017 have showed how reliable media is...
Ok Mr President...

What does that have to do with gaming and gaming builds?...
Want to talk numbers and statistics... One word STEAM. PC gamers don't buy physical disk copies like they use to... Last one I bought The Witcher ( first game) which I ended up reburying on steam because I lost the disk when I moved.
All the software you can buy in the world can be bought online and the drivers for products have websites you can download from. Want to know the real REALITY... PC cases have started to not have optical bay's period.
Here's a PIC of my PC for and let that reality sink in for you... *optical drives XD.*
As for the whole BluRay thing... Another bite of reality for you, physical movie sales have be on the decline ever since Netflix and other streaming services turned up.
Reality?... Please, you console gamers are deluded praising your mid level GPU and Laptop level CPU boxes that struggle to maintain 30FPS that Micrsoft sells at a loss because you cheap man children would cry like you did with the PS3 if they sold it higher than £500.
@Jebus213: that is not a very good reason. And a home theater pc without a optical drive cant play 4k blu ray disk.
Because you can't download 4k movies "eye rolls"
I wonder why can't they have 8 gb of rams and less Hard drive space and use those money on a little better CPU instead.. can that work?
Crushing Lem hopes and dreams...Savage
You butthurt, Yeah one more month!
He's a closet lem and has two Mighty X1X's preordered. The wife and kids demanded it.... Bank Baby !! :P
@ni6htmare01: one issue is the ram is shared between the gpu and cpu on the system. Some small amount of ram will be hogged by background os processes as well. This means the ram available for high quality textures isn't 12. It's probably in the range of 4-8 depending on how much ram the cpu is hogging at a given moment. So if they dropped the ram to 8 gb total it would actually have worse issues than the ps4 pro when it comes to texture quality (pro having 9gb of ram)
I imagine that one buys an xbox one x, brings it home, sets it up, and then sits on the couch twiddling their thumbs.
Like, now what?
Lol @ optical drives.
Same people who use those probably use fax machines too.
You do know that Disney is making 4k UHD discs now, right?
Why not just chisel in binary on stone tablets while they're at it?
It can be delivered by couriers riding dinosaurs!

Who you kidding. You don't even play exclusives and whatever Bore Poo can do, Mighty X1X MonsterBox can do worlds better.
