http://www.psu.com/Another-Xbox-360-exclusive-headed-to-PS3--a008121-p0.php

With the recent announcement of Star Ocean 4, for the Playstation 3, It finally became clear that the absolute edge in the genre is indeed going to be on The Playstation 3, not only the system is about to get two of the most important top rated japanese rpgs of this gen being tales of vesperia and Star Ocean 4. But the Ps3 is getting the best versions of them with extra characters, boss fights, both voice overs and side quests. It happened before with a highly overlooked game called Eternal Sonata which is now also on the Ps3 with extra.

Why is this so relevant. Because the Playstation Brand has always been synonymous of japanese rpgs and has always dominated the genre with some of the best exclusives for years, and now some people really tried to convince the public that a foreign console was taking over as the new JRPG KING... over the Successor of the Ps2.

Lets take a deep breath here for a second, this generation the japanese rpgs have sold rather poorly, regardless of which platform they're released for, except for the biggest names. FF, DQ, MH etc. That brings developers the need to make this games multiplatform, If they want to make money it has become the only way and thus all of this former 360 exclusives have now been confirmed for the Ps3 but... Stop right there for a second and thing to yourself, Ps3 owners lost Final Fantasy XIII how come they can have the absolute edge in JRPGs, well If the Xbox360 lost all those games but not only as exclusives, they also lost the possibility to gain access to all the extras demanded by sony as an apology for the late release and as a matter of fact, one by one the Ps3 keeps getting many different flavors of japanese RPGs some of them may be not traditional and others entirely niche, however one way or another they remain exclusive.

Ps3 got Disgaea III and it stayed there, Ps3 got White Knight and it stayed there, The Ps3 got Valkyria Chronicles and it never went Multiplatform. We have now the upcoming releases of The Last Rebellion, Trinity Universe, Demon's Souls. Plus some of the biggest RPGs the 360 had. The Library of exclusive RPGs for the Ps3 grows steadily and surely despite the loss of FFXIII, but not only that still to date, the Full current generation FF experience consists of 3 games XIII, XIII Versus and newly announced in Last Year's E3 (By Sony) Final Fantasy XIV, Which is an MMOJRPG. Even with the Loss of XIII the Ps3 is still by far ahead in terms of quality RPGS.

FROM KOTAKUTALES OF VESPERIA RAGE.

Imagine that you don't own an Xbox 360. Maybe, you don't even want one. But then a game comes out on it, a game you really want, and it's an exclusive.

To play it, well, you'd probably buy the console, take your "Only On Xbox 360" game home and play the crap outta it. Then imagine several months later, that same game emerged once again, like a Phoenix from the flames, and was appearing on another console — with more story, new characters, the works! How would you feel?

Bamboozled! Pissed off! Mad! Nerd rage has been directed at Bandai Namco's Tales of Vesperia, which was an Xbox 360 exclusive. That is, until it decided to appear on the PS3 with brand new shiny stuff.

I am here to say this flat out, the Xbox 360 is not the JRPG king of this gen, it had its best moments last year but now that has come to an end. Just like the Japanese did with their copies of TOV for the Xbox360, the delusional myth of the 360 being the JRPG king of this gen, just let it burn.

Console wise....360 is still the king. Get over it... Star Ocean 4 and Tales of Vesperia doesn't make the ps3 king. 360 had them long ago.

And, Nintedo DS is the best jrpg system.

It still is as all those games are not out et for the Ps3 in the rest of the world. The only thing the PS3 has done is leveled the playing field.

Its just like the RPG talk and the sales talk, if the Ps3 beats the 360 in terms of Both one second before this gen is over Its all good.

For JRPG's it's beaten the 360 (or soon will do) but it's still light years behind for WRPG's though.

I'm failing to see the logic here... JRPG offerings have been not only slim this generation but of mostly poor quality. The 360 still has more JRPGs than the PS3 :? Seriously, list some exclusive JRPGs on the PS3 that are out in North America. Oh wait, there are none, besides Valkyria Chronicles. I think everyone can agree that JRPGs this generation suck, but at least the 360 actually has them.

I say Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight and Demon's Souls. All Ps3 Exclusives. Tales Of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata and Star Ocean 4 are by far the best RPGs the 360 had and they're now on the Ps3 with extra content, more bosses, new levers both voice overs thanks to Blu Ray. The 360 got PWNED.

Games will take some time to get localized, Im talking about the three 360 JRPGs now confirmed for Ps3. Valkyra Chronicles has been out for almost a year, Demon Souls comes out next month. WKC is slated for January Next Year, Localizations are a pain in the ass but the PWNAGE is still there, I dont even have to wait for my superior versions that long anyway, the Ps3 unlike the 360 is 100% region free and the New SO4 version has subs and both voice overs. In the end the Ps3 got more and got them better. The Japanese burned their copies of TOV when they announced it for the Ps3, what good is a 360 for them now?

The hilarious thing about what he pointed out is that the 360 version of Eternal Sonata indeed has both English and Japanese language tracks.

I've come to determine that all these threads must be cows trying to cover up the fact that the 360 is about to get another time exclusive JRPG: Magna Carta 2. To TC, Adding pictures doesn't make your point valid. Extra content is just that, extra content. Does the game's story end the same way? Did I get to play the game a year earlier? It's just a way to add extra incentive for PS3 owners to buy a game that came out a year before. Could you imagine if a year later the developer tried to port the game over without anything and still charge full price for it? The fact still stands, if you want to play JRPGs FIRST without waiting a year + extra. . .then you get it on the 360. On a super side note: Eternal Sonata was not a good JPRG.

Eh. So far, all Blu-Ray has done is reduce the number of disks a game needs, and make it more complicated for game devs to develop on it.

If they really wanted to, they could've fitted the Japanese voicing on the 360 version.

Namco didn't announce the Release date for ES until the Japanese Version was out. Its their policy. Did I heard Region lock? Oh nope, thats for the 360. The Ps3 is region free so anyone can import and instead of waiting for the localization.

The Ps3 gets the superior version and thanks to Blu Ray it gets the original voice overs, its irrelevant what they could have accomplished for the 360 in what 6 or 7 DvDs ? Is that Funny Or Sad I cant tell.

I'm confuzzled. How is the PS3 King? Doesn't this basically confirm theyare about equal now (actually in the future) and the PS33 is catching up? Generally speaking, who buys a late port without extra content incentive?

He's capitalizing on the common misconception that "teh JAPNEZE voiceovrs r sOO much better tahn the english!!1" which is just an excuse Japanophiles use when, in reality, they have no idea what good acting is in their native language, let alone Japanese. This guy is just flamebait. He provides no evidence for his claims beyond what is "a given" (such as extra content) to people with any normal intelligence. Move along.

For the record, unless something happened today that I am unaware of, PS3 didn't lose MGS4. Just because 360 is getting a spin-off of the MGS games doesn't mean PS3 lost it's best, highest rated exclusive MGS4. That's like saying if a game called Halo: Play Time Adventures came out for the Wii that 360 lost Halo 3, Halo ODST, and Halo Reach because another system is getting a spin-off. As for the second part of your post, when ToV and SO4 were first announced/released, A LOT of 360 only owner on this site were claiming that the 360 was the "JRPG king" and that it had stolen one of Sony's best genres.

You really don't know the space that, even the WHOLE game, in another language would take, right? I mean, to claim that it would double the necessary media. Rofl.

I saw this in 2007 when everyone was doubting PS3. We told you all PS3 would get the best games in the end and the most exclusives but you all just laugh and brushed it off. Xbox 360s reign is over. Now it's PS3 turns to shine and there is no looking back. It's only going to better from here on out. :D

[QUOTE="SergeAndKid"][QUOTE="TheOldOlder"] We have reality and we have our dreams. The Ps3 version will get Both voice overs and the 360 version doesnt thats it. The Ps3 gets the superior version and thanks to Blu Ray it gets the original voice overs, its irrelevant what they could have accomplished for the 360 in what 6 or 7 DvDs ? Is that Funny Or Sad I cant tell.

cutmaclass1

Superior Version a year later while they enjoyed the game a year earlier?

He's capitalizing on the common misconception that "teh JAPNEZE voiceovrs r sOO much better tahn the english!!1" which is just an excuse Japanophiles use when, in reality, they have no idea what good acting is in their native language, let alone Japanese. This guy is just flamebait. He provides no evidence for his claims beyond what is "a given" (such as extra content) to people with any normal intelligence. Move along.

and he clearly is a Japanophile with that ridiculous comment about Japanese games should ONLY be on Japanese systems ****

I'm confuzzled. How is the PS3 King? Doesn't this basically confirm theyare about equal now (actually in the future) and the PS33 is catching up? Generally speaking, who buys a late port without extra content incentive?

IronBass

Yeah, I don't get the logic, either. The 360 "fails" because the PS3 is still catching up? I don't get it >_>

Just let them have there fun I guess???

[QUOTE="jakarai"][QUOTE="cutmaclass1"]I'm failing to see the logic here...

You left out Disagea 3. We will get Demon's Souls next month. Most of them are not out yet but they are coming.

Not out means not proven. Disgaea is hardly compelling. It's about as good as Monster Hunter... As in, it's not really.

} This is simply Epic indeed, Catching Up? For real? Put WKC on a 360 and see if it works..., the Ps3 has kept most of the RPGs it has gotten and has the 360 ones but better. Its the same as the Hack and Slash come back the Ps3 made when it got NGS1/2

As far as I can tell, these threads all point to the PS3 still TRYING to catch up. Keep in mind these games aren't even out on the PS3 in Japan yet. Also realize that in less than a month (Oct. 13th) the Xbox 360 will get YET ANOTHER time exclusive JRPG.

Calling Star Ocean 4 one of the highest rated Jrpgs of this gen is a bit of a stretch. It has a metacritic score of 72/100...

I didn't see Microsoft losing Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, The Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery. I'd rank those games on the same level as any PS3 JRPG exclusive.

SO4 has such annoying characters and acting. It's everything that's wrong with the genre.

We lost SO4.

You lost MGS4.

Seems like it isn't a fair trade.

And I don't think the 360 ever had the pretension of thinking of itself as the king of JRPGs. Saying even more, it didn't get stolen. Microsoft only signed a 1-year exclusivity with SO4. They probably expected it to come to rival platforms afterwards.

GFugue

Wait, wait, what? :o

I didn't heard about that, i only heared that 360 gets MGS:Raising not MGS4

The 360 failed to be an JRPG king because it made no impact within the genre.... Or did it made an impact? Where's the AAA scores? Where are they? Where are the superior exclusives? The PS3, fortunately, is up for the thrown considering the 360 lost Vesperia and SO4, which will have improved and extra contents for the PS3...

Again. More unreleased games. Your whole thread is based on more "just wait".
