I can see why you said "whole genre". Just saying "Heavy Rain" doesn't grab nearly enough attention. One unique game is exclusive to the PS3. whoopty-doo-The-G-Man-
The game isn't for everyone afterall, but it surpringely succeeded in attracting more attention than expectations.

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"] Did you read the OP ??? At least the red words attracted ur attention !!!! if not, you are just a jalous fanboy who wants to disqualify HR's achievments :? .omho88

What achievements? Heavy Rain didn't bring anything new to the Adventure genre like you believe.

the adventure genre !!! you never learn.
anyway you can lread the link i provided and see the reception part OR you can read some reviews OR play the game.

I own the game I have obtained 72% of the trophies thank you very much. Like there is nothing special about Heavy Rain and it doesn't bring anything new to the genre. Yea it is a good game but it isn't what you make it out to be.

It's an adventure game. That genre is very old, and very active recently. Sony only called it "interactive drama" as a PR exercise to try and emphasise it's fresh take on the genre.

"Looking forward to next year, a game like Heavy Rain, it's trying to do something very new, whether you call that the adventure genre, action adventure, we're calling it interactive drama, and it's about trying to create an emotional connection with the game."

They admit the validity of the adventure genre label, though they're trying to transcend it.

Sorry, you've not a new sub-genre here at best.

Not even a new sub-genre. Interactive movies have been around since the 80's. There isn't to many of them but they've been around.

i hope you guessed right, coz the game is uniqe and one of its kind this generation. Here are some pics:

Name: Heavy Rain

Dev.: Q. Dreams

Genre: interactive Drama

That's right folks, one of its kind, a whole genre exclusive to the PS3 this generation, the game defines and refines story telling with an emotional, immersive story that withdraws you in it from start to end. the game let's you control 4 characters in persue of the Origami killer. The game has multiple endings to encourage you to replay it again with each decision can lead to different consequences.

The game initially was thought to be a flop and a huge failure, but it was a surprise, it should be the surprise of the year imo. The game was met was universal acclaim and praise, the QTEs and the uniqe control scheme didn't prevent the game from being one of the best titles this year. The game scored AAE here on GS with AA/AAA scored from almost all major sites. the game also was a commercial success exceeding 1 million copy in sales ( initial expectaions were less than 300 k).

You can find alot more about the game in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_Rain

So lemmings, wanna congratulate Cows or bash the game ?? it's ur choice :D .

Edit: i put some key words in Red to be more persice.

Edit2: The game isn't 100%, i never said that, but it's one of its kind considering how good it was handled and being different enough that anything else in the same genre, the game has got the unique emblem in the review btw.

Edit3: i put "this generation" coz the competition is between the PS3, x360,Wii and PC, i have alot of preservation on putting the PC in cometition but some posters will put it nomatter what and they will bring PC game no matter what.

This new genre shall be known as Wankery, since Yahtzee determined it to be wankery it will officially be that.
