@brah4ever:
The current gen is basically just about graphics. That does suck. This is like the dark ages for gaming.

Plenty of great games out there right now. If you can't find fun in any of them then that's your problem.
This is another one of those "I am attempting to look like I have superior taste by making a bold claim about the current state of gaming" kind of a thread. Nobody cares and your not better than anybody just because you're trying to act smug about it.
I've seen this exact same thread since coming to this forum in 2003 back in the 6th gen. You're not original.
Agreed. I've been here since even longer than wasdie...and these threads are a constant. I would agree that the remasters are new though. This trend is a bummer, I guess, but as a 95 percent pc gamer (And almost 100 percent, once Forza comes to pc) I don't really care so much. I always have more games than I have time for. First world problems.
I just have to wonder how much of the games people list will actually be remembered down the road. A huge lack of creativity seems to persist in the industry. Most games seem to favor distracting people with bare bones leveling up systems that make them feel accomplished without any real challenge. Or unnecessarily realistic graphics that do not reflect realistic writing and characterization and put no real effort in crafting a setting and opt out for typical hollywood conveniently scripted action sequences, instead of letting the player explore things on their own accord. Everything is spoon fed.
Genre specifics are important to take into account, however, and my rant above mainly applies to shooters, RPGs, action-adventure, and most triple A games. I'm sure there are a lot of great indie puzzle games that challenge your mind in creative ways, but the problem is, they are still being considered indie, and not the norm.
For PC this gen is pretty good
But yeah, as far as consoles it's easily the most disappointing generation by a long shot. In terms of good exclusives, this generation is exponentially worse than the last generation for all three consoles, and last generation had its own notable drop in good exclusives from the PS2 era.
Consoles are really just multiplat boxes nowadays, but like... you might as well just get the multiplats on PC anyways.
