UC2 has 2xAA if I'm not mistaken.killab2oo5Yes, it gets rid of some jaggies, but not most of them, and uses SSAO to try to hide them, even the cutscenes have jaggies in them.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Its not that its a bullshot, its that the screenshot is from a cutscene, which is pre-rendered, meaning that its going to have nearly perfect AA.
Uncharted 2 is not the first game to do this either, a lot of games use pre-rendered cutscenes, you can tell by the simple fact that the cutscenes look better then the game itself.
U2 does look terribly ugly in that pic
theseekar
OMG all you do is bash a game that you have never played, Halo Reach looks terrible btw. There you go.
Uncharted 2 looks just like that first pic, iv.djsifer01No it doesn't,that pic has like 16xAA on it.
Ok, before I get hated on for using a bad screenshot(which I think looks great), here's some better quality shots...

I agree, and btw this is not completely about UC2 its about all games that do this mind game to trick people into thinking they have better graphics than they really do.

Every game with 2 x AA in 720 P has jaggies , you need 12 x to get rid of them in that resolution .
U2 still looks good though for a console game , i personally like RDR better considering it's not a linear game but has a open world .

Yep, and the difference between a non-fanboy and a blind idiot fanboy is that they have something to back them up instead of saying "Uncharted 2 looks just like that first pic"

i think youre the only person that can convince whoevers wrong or right. Can you take a screen capture when drake is punching someone. like the first picture, in the same background if possible and this can be done once and for all. Oh and TC you can do it as well because you obviously took the first shots with your screen capture set and posted for us all to see our fanboyness. If you didnt take those shot how do we know they are the full game or representation of the final product. Happy to be proved wrong.

why just cant people move one??? U2 is still regarded as the best looking game on consoles (we're not talking fans / fanboys but the gaming media in general)..
I know its a PS3 exclusive but its getting ridiculous with all these threads being created to somehow make it look like there are other console titles ('not on PS3') that look better..
why do people find it easy to accept that multiplats are most of the time 'inferior' on PS3 because reviewers (the media) said so, while having trouble accepting what the media said about U2 being currently the best looking title on consoles???

Old news is old
Yes, I was playing the UC2 demo today on my PS3 + 50" 1080p, and, like most console games, it really is a jagged mess.
Aside from the low res of 720p and a lot of aliasing, the game does look good, is pretty detailed, and has good animations.
It would like awesome if it was on PC though.

I'm sorry man, these shots are from GS's Uncharted 2 images section. The first shot I posted is taken from a high quality 720p video I downloaded. I've failed you.:(
The 1st shot TC uses is probably from a pre-rendered vid using in-game assets. It's a bullshot, which is plainy apparent by the lack of aliasing(jaggies) in the image. If you look at the 2 shots I just posted you can see the jaggies and hud that shows it's in-game, but you'll also notice that the DoF(depth of field) effect helps cover a lot of those jaggies compared to any shots that don't have it.
Uncharted 2 is the best looking console game out there. Best lighting, best textures, best DoF, best models(outside FNR4).
If you want some shots from Cinema mode talk to some unbiased PS3 owners like Rikusaki or mitu123.

since you like Alan Wake so much, open your eyes and WAKE up...
1) U2 was not released 1 year ago..
2) No award or mention was done by the media that AW is visually the best looking title on consoles....
3) Crysis 2?? coming out next year.. its clear you have no more arguments if you ended up hiding behind Crysis2 LOL
4) Just stop this delusional campaign of yours... I agree with you that AW is a great game, no doubt about it and its great visually but not on U2 & GOW3's level... And dont even post why you think AW is better we've seen that too many times and you've annoyed me (us) already enough..

The graphics department is so strong that it only serves to add to the overall experience that is Alan Wake. Alan Wake also looks gorgeous. The lighting, weather, and particle effects are simply stunning. Sure, there's a bit more motion blur than is probably necessary and the edges of objects can look fuzzy and pixilated from time to time, but it all fits into the game's dream-like tone

Much has been made of Alan Wake's less-than HD resolution, but the bottom line is that it's a stunning looking title. No game released so far this generation features lighting effects more impressive, or so much going on. At times, with the wind blowing, smoke in the air, objects flying around, flares alight and enemies coming at you, there'd be an argument for this being one of the most visually striking games ever released. It's that impressive. During certain dramatic moments the game even pauses and pans around Alan, giving you a chance to take it all in.
Things take an unfortunate turn for the worse during the game's many non-interactive cutscenes, however. Quite why isn't clear, but in these scripted video sequences the animations appear to be jerky and the lip syncing is terrible. It doesn't hurt the overall experience too much, as the voice acting is still excellent and the direction superb, but compared to the high quality on show at all other times, it's somewhat jarring to see a car judder along a road and a woman speak as though she's a ventriloquist's dummy.
The world is linear, with the path to your objective usually quite obvious, but there are just enough 'off the beaten path' locations to make you believe Bright Falls is a real place

Locations, both man-made and natural, all look amazingly realistic, and the changes in weather and time of day are very well done. Graphics: The imagery inside the game can be breathtaking. Giant snow capped mountains surround Bright Falls and in the initial opening sequence of the game the view is spectacular and continues to be spectacular throughout the game. The water looks real as does the surrounding areas. Since you spend so much time in the dark Remedy wants you to experience the game as if you were there. So they ask you to adjust the brightness of the game to their required specs. It is really important to the story to follow this instruction. When you are in the dark you feel like you are there with only a flashlight to guide you. It feels like they spent a lot of time getting the dark just right. You really have to focus to make your way around just like in real life. Every area looks like a natural environment that looks like it was painstakingly created.

For an Xbox 360 game, Alan Wake has pushed the limits of the console by rendering a very crisp and detailed environment. The very precise and detailed designs of the dark forest in Bright Falls will give gamers an eerie and atmospheric experience. You can expect most of your time running through the dark forest while finding your way through to the next area. The art direction really shines with regard to how environments look and feel in Alan Wake. While the sun is up, Bright Falls looks like a peaceful, quaint tourist town in the Pacific Northwest. And saying "is visually the best looking title currently (far before AW release, when U2 relesed)available on consoles" does not cover the future games, like Alan Wake at all !!!!
[QUOTE="Malta_1980"]
why just cant people move one??? U2 is still regarded as the best looking game on consoles (we're not talking fans / fanboys but the gaming media in general)..
I know its a PS3 exclusive but its getting ridiculous with all these threads being created to somehow make it look like there are other console titles ('not on PS3') that look better..
why do people find it easy to accept that multiplats are most of the time 'inferior' on PS3 because reviewers (the media) said so, while having trouble accepting what the media said about U2 being currently the best looking title on consoles???

The media called it great a year ago, before graphics move to Alan Wake levels and Crysis 2
Old news is old
Give it up already.
NY Times:
"I hope the inevitable Alan Wake 2 delivers the emotional depth and gameplay range this first title so clearly lacks."
"Playing Alan Wake, I kept encountering a great concept suffocated by bafflingly narrow and unimaginative design and embarrassingly derivative and rote storytelling. Alan Wake bills itself as a "psychological action thriller," but it falls short on both the psychology and the action. What is so frustrating is that its visual production values and overall polish are impeccable — this is a game that desperately is trying to be a TV show à la "Twin Peaks" or "Lost," and looks like it — but Alan Wake simply does not deliver where it counts: in the mind and in the gut."
"Heavy Rain, the masterly mystery game from Quantic Dream for the PlayStation 3, packs more emotional weight and psychological meaning into every five minutes than Alan Wake manages over its 10 to 12 hours. Of course, Alan Wake's deficiencies when it comes to occupying the mind could be forgiven if it satisfied the gut: in other words if the "action" part of the "psychological action thriller" was of the top rank."
"Sadly, it isn't. At least 90 percent of the gameplay in Alan Wake is you running through the woods at night, shining your flashlight at the wraiths and animated farm hardware to weaken them before finishing them off with a handgun, a shotgun, a hunting rifle, a flash-bang grenade or a flare gun. The gameplay never evolves beyond that, and the settings are all so dark as to make them monotonous. In the end it produces a feeling not of dread but of mild disdain."

There are also countless hits on google "alan wakes graphics are outdated."
So there you have it Theseekar. Have a nice day.

It is one against 100 i gave, of course there will be biased people around
Yes, it gets rid of some jaggies, but not most of them, and uses SSAO to try to hide them, even the cutscenes have jaggies in them. Yeah, but he said it "obviously has 0 anti-aliasing...which is wrong, though the jaggies in UC2 seem to be a hell of a lot more noticeable than most games with 2xAA. Guess because it has a lot of curves or something.[QUOTE="killab2oo5"]UC2 has 2xAA if I'm not mistaken.mitu123

and reviewers saying that AW isnt visually the best lookin title( far after UC2 Release) available on consoles does cover past games and therefore implying the UC2 still looks better.

LOL seriously WTF
if the media thought AW is currently the best looking title on consoles THEY WOULD HAVE SAID SO... its that simple.. Before U2 was released there was KZ2 being crowned by the media as the best looking console title.. but when U2 came out the media then said U2 looked better.. so if AW was truly better looking than any other console title available I assume the media would have once again said so in its reviews/articles/awards whatever....
But it was never said AW is the best looking title on consoles...

Well i got QUOTE: "About 33,400 results (0.21 seconds) " with google on the words "Alan Wake outdated" So i guess i win.You guys need to understand who theseekar is, and what his agenda is concerning AW. Two words to sum it up, thick foliage. Big, thick, foliage. Leaves and trees, roots and branches. Thick underbrush, lying beneath stout trunks of authentic hardwood. Uncharted 2 doesn't "cut" it, if you know what I mean. :P
Alan Wake is a great looking game though. If it releases on PC it will be a real treat visually.

Dude just stop replying to him. He's living in his own world. Apparently he has a set of eyes that only sees beauty in the thick, linear forests of Alan Wake. Maybe if everyone ignores him he will stop. I also wouldn't be surprised if the TC of this thread was one of his alt accounts
Its funny how people use the media card, trying to beat opinions with opinions, then the other camp comes and use the media card aswell and the other camp deny it to death and still think their games are better looking, hell to even think their games compare to crysis...that tells you something...Tessellation
its funny really... the media apparently can only be trusted when something is against the PS3 (console sales, exclusive selling slowly, inferior multiplats, PSN probs etc)... but when its in favour of the PS3 its not trusted but media becomes just someone with a 'biased' opinion :)
Nobody in here posted proof that the media stated 'AW is the best looking title currently available on consoles'... that should close this argument immediately..
LOL

Who in this thread has brought up Crysis?
We all know that Crysis is the best looking game and will be for a ver very long time.
No offence, but bringing up Crysis in every graphics thread is starting to become more and more desperate. It's like the PC fanboy's last strong argument in SW and they will punch it into people at every opportunity even if it isn't relevant.

I definitely don't have anything to do with that theseekar guy.
AW graphics aren't that good at all, I didn't even know people thought it was a graphics contender lol.
And for the LAST TIME I don't think UC2 graphics suck. The point of this thread is the misleading screenshots.

Jealous fanboys like you are so pathetic it's sad. Yeah uncharted 2 looks that good as a matter of fact it looks better on my tv i wish I had a capture card so I can just make you cry.Are fanboys really so blind they can't even tell when a picture is a complete bullshot?
Really? Uncharted 2 runs with movie-like anti-aliasing? (jagged edge smoothing) for the retards who really shouldn't even be in system wars
ps3 games run with barely any anti-aliasing and a lot the time not any at all.
I guess I have to edit this since people are that stupid.
This is Uncharted 2, which obviously runs with 0 anti-aliasing, unlike the first pic.
Game companies purposely release bullshots of their games to promote them graphically and fanboys try to use them as legitimate excuses in graphics threads. It proves how little they know.
Take a good look at the edges of the cement, that's called aliasing, for those of you who know nothing about graphics.
