This E3 Microsoft Needs To Announce Free Basic XBL Along With Price Cut

If they do that, this will put them back on top of PS3 imo...

Free xbl basic out the box, along with the announced price cut would bring MS allot of attnetion...by only allowing you to pay to play online it really blocks out anyone for whatever reason who doesn't pay to connect, if they have free basic, however they could work it out, xbl would see an increase in players, community, and activity....

I know ALLOT of PS3 owners as myself who bought PS3 for free online, as it was a huge justification...

With free basic online, they'll attract a more casual crowd and still have pay for the hardcore players...

They could then come announce new features to justify the 50 dollars a year even further, so everyone won't just do it free....thus they'll have an increase n fanabse and money...

I only want one console, but Gears 2, Halo 3, Gears 1, all those other 360 titles and the rpgs and Fable 2 *Fable was my most favorite rpg ever* is really tempting, but they need to offer that push for me to jump in...

If they have free basic online, I'll sell my PS3 in a heartbeat and then just bask in all the wonderful titles they have to offer this year...

Please MS, please announce a basic xbl for free...:)

Yes, that would completely obliterate Sony's attempts to match up service to service...those 9 million plus psn accounts could be potential 360 free basic accounts...

Sony's still struggling to match up, but even xbl toned down would still be superior to psn, and make ps3 owners question their purchase....it would all work well for Microsoft...

It doesn't. But MS keeps touting how well their Live service is doing while in fact the PSN is growing very close on Live.

Microsoft is not gonna fail this generation if they do not make Xbox Live free. Just because Sony offers their online service at no charge doesn't mean that it is the greatest thing ever. Sony online has quite a few flaws that need to be worked out before it could even compete with Microsoft on the level it needs to, to take over the online console market. Besides $50 a year is not a bad deal because for one the online works the way it should and Microsoft manages the service to keep it running smoothly

MS wont change pricing. the reasons ms gives for cost seems to be enough to fool people or the fact that if you want to play games online with you're 360.. you have no other option. they got ya "Locked-In".

I stooped my gold account a couple months back and buy multiplats on my PS3. Online play is still the same and don't miss crossgame chat or a million invites though I'm starting to get them alot with v2.41 :x.

it all kinda reminds me of that penny fraction stealing thing. millions of people going "ehh it's not THAT much money.. I don't care". If I charged you 10 cents to read my post I bet you would think twice though :P

Maybe so but they will also never beat sony if they dont. Sony will continue to dominate them in sales, and eventually when theres alot more ps3's than 360's ( wont be long sony outsells them worldwide every month now) then more companies will also jump ship to ps3, it's economics you cant argue it. Lets see,, PS3 comes with charger for wireless controller, free online service (I dont care if live has more features that most ppl dont need you can play games online for free thats all that matters to most ppl) blueray player, wireless adapter, $400. Now 360 $300, +$50-$60 a year for XBL - EVERY YEAR, $40 play n charge kit, $120 wireless card adapter, and no blueray. I think the choice is obvious why PS3 outsells 360 every month wordwide.

I seriously doubt they will ever change the pricing of Xbox Live, people are constantly signing up and if they were to suddenly say "Hey, what all of those millions of people just payed for is now free!". ONLYDOD

odd I would have thought sony like all ways would have trumpeted their own horns they did when it got to 5 million or so, But i highly doubt its even 9.5 million it was just may that they said 5 million users, lol i doubt they got 4 million in just those few months, it was really abysmal there for a while psn is easy to sign up for its free and it takes all of 2 minutes and yet it just kept hovering at 5 million users.

PSN does suck, I have a PS3, and it being not unified makes it feel clunky in comparison to XBL. At least, in my opinion. I play on my PS3 a ton, but a lot of the games I don't play online, because of the issues in some of the games. Don't tell me you think MGO is good online, or Motorstorm's online is great. You could blame the developer if you want, but if Sony had made it a unified service rather then letting the developers do whatever they please, it would be a lot smoother of an experience.

people on system wars need to wake up. system wars does not = the world. we may know xbl might be free and some might go out and get a 360. but do you think john doe out there who doesnt spend times on gamespot or other game forums will know that live is free. no he wont. he will go buy what he wants. ms makes money off of live being 50 bucks a year. and obviously they are happen with it costing that much. they have been doing it since live launched on the original xbox.

Yeah.. it would be nice, but I don't see that happening. M$ is making a nice profit from XBox Live and customers are happy to pay for it. By making it FREE the floodgates would open and XBox Live would grow from 9 million subscribers to 13 million in a matter of weeks. If anything they should cut the price in 1/2 to $24.99 a year. I think that would be a good start.

Considering the big picture..Sony is the only one "failing"...

This gen is far from over...but it will take a miracle for Sony to capture the same market share/unit sales that the PS2 obtained..
