PS3 had 3 Uncharted games, how many yall got now? PS3 had like 8 Ratchet and Clank games, how many yall got now? PS3 had like 3 LBP games, how many yall got now? PS3 had bout 5 Tales games, how many yall got now?
I've enjoyed my PS4 so far, but this gen has really been lacking in those 'Holy shit!' moments that tend to define a generation. I don't doubt that we'll have plenty of them in the future, but Gen 8's been slow out the gate.
I don't think this gen is going to last all that long. I'm expecting PS5 by 2018. This means that they only got 3 years left to launch some megatons. Otherwise this whole gen will be realized to be a big disappointment filled with hype and little else.
@GiveMeSomething: name every game you played this gen, then we shall see if it's a matter of the games or just your taste in them that's the problem
By the time holiday 2016 rolls around they will have decent libraries. And there are still good games right now.
You want a console with a massive library, pick up a 360.
Consoles are ass this gen. All hype, no substance.
I'm done with consoles, because I think this is how it's going to be from now on.
This is the problem. MS and Sony no longer differentiate themselves from the PC apart from a few exclusives a year. We're even getting FF7, Shenmue 3, SF5, probably Killer Instinct and GeoW Ultimate. These are the games MS and Sony needed to have as exclusives. They're a complete joke.
I don't really want to include Nintendo in this, but they're not handling the Wii U very well.
On the other hand, PCs just get better and better.

Nope. The 360s first year was pretty good and it had a clear graphical leap over 6th gen out of the gate. The 360s games only got better after the first year. This, it hasn't really been the case.
Who's to say this is a bad generation? Grand Theft Auto V, Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, already some fantastic games out there and we are yet to receive games like MGS5:TPP, Uncharted 4, etc..

GTA5 was a last gen game though. And MGS5 is also on last gen consoles. Its a bad generation because there are very few games that take advantage of current gen tech.
This gen there is more games than money I have to spend on them. I'm not saying it is the best gen but I am satisfied.
Once this holiday hits, Xbox owners will be in a financial state of ruin. Time to sell some golf clubs or something.
Only noobs/kids say this gen is bad. It has only been 1.5 years. If you have been gaming the last 20-30 years, then you know the first year or so only has a handful of good games. You as a gamer should know this by now.
The only way you don't know this is if the PS4/xbone is your very first console, you bought it at launch and were expecting 20 AAA games right off the bat. LOL. That is not how it works.
Every console in history only has a couple good games its first year. It is the second year where games pick up and then peaks in years 3 and 4. Year 5 usually has a swan song as we transition into the next gen. Repeat.

You could easily do a comparison of games from ps360 era to this gen and see how many quality titles came out in the first 2 years. Something tells me that last gen had a higher number of better games.

Perfect Dark Zero, CoD2 looked like shit. In fact I remember struggling to find a reason to like 360 because I thought Xbox games still looked great
Again, anybody who says this gen is any different is a noob to the whole thing. Plain and simple

PS3 had 3 uncharted games, 8 ratchet, 3 LBP within the first 2 years ? My, my..why are you SW posters so stupid? lol you just killed all your credibility in your opening lines.
LIKE I SAID, anybody saying this gen is any different or worse is either a child or an idiot.
@Douevenlift_bro: No, what im sayin is yall dont have none. No Uncharted game, no Ratchet and Clank game, no LBP game, and no Tales game. These are yalls big sellers. Sony needed them when they were in last place, now it seems they dont. They are doing great and in first place.
And I feel sorry for those of us who actually bought a fucking console (ps4 in my case). Seriously the last 3 generations were LIGHT YEARS ahead of this one in terms of quality games.
I only have bloodborne, and destiny, which i cant bring myself to play because we all know how bad it is
What has become of gaming...
Hahaha yeah good thing i'm still waiting to hope on this gen.
I feel sorry for all of you who just play AAA/AAAA current western games.
My PS2 , Vita and Wii are on fire this year.
So good to enjoy games.
I'm inclined to agree to say this gen sucks thus far I own all three and two handhelds
Aside from Nintendo. Wiiu
There isn't anything that I can not get on last gen barely if any and the ones that are are average at best
All of these "next gen" consoles suck so far.
I bought a PS4 back in February after waiting a little over a year, and looking back...I could've easily waited an additional year.
Only game I've really played on the PS4 since I finished The Last of Us: Remastered is Madden 15 with some Resogun sprinkled in.
And it's not like the XBone is any better with it's Halo and Gears remasters and the umpteenth installment of Forza.
This is exactly why PC will ALWAYS win.
Sony and Microsoft fanboys can cling to their AAA exclusives that come out maybe 1-2 times a year...I'll stick with PC and the plethora of quality titles that come out by the truckload.
@the_master_race: lol I'm really starting to enjoy this gen. It did have a slow start but now it's really starting to become great. Not butthurt, sorry.
Consoles have been lacking with "exclusives," but there are a lot of multiplats to play. If your a XB1 owner this holiday must be a dream come true. Gears, Forza, Halo, Fable, Tomb Raider, and the Rare collection. It's the PS owners I'm worried about. Some reason they have delusions of TLG, FF VII, and Shenmue releasing soon. I see at least 2 of those games releasing in 2017, but I digress. The real winner is PC. Not only will it receive games like Gears and Killer Instinct, they'll receive Shenmue and FF VII more than likely. The best of everything.
If you think this year lacks games then you've never heard of a little gem I like to call Duck Game, which is exclusive to PC.

Let's go back to the first post. Maybe it was two years for the PS3, but the Xbox 360 didn't have a bad first year.
Let's look at this gen. Most games are now on the PC, rendering them mostly useless except a few games each a year. What's left, Indies and remasters?
Very few games are truly next gen visually impressive so far. There is what? The Order, Drive Club.
Even some of the worst looking 7th gen games look a graphical leap better then most 6th gen games. Where as most 8th gen games look a bit better than 7th gen games.
In terms of hardware ability, these weak consoles do nothing but reinforce what they're weakest at, graphics. So apart from having some better physics, the game experiences aren't even different. Games don't use the hardware resources to create any sort of game worlds that couldn't have been done last gen.
This gen is just a sad desperate excuse, with more of a milking business model then ever before. Because now most games cost £40 plus with season passes that cost £25 plus. It's a complete joke.
The problem with this generation compared to last is the fact that these systems have really lost mass swathes of their exclusives in which the pc has been getting tons of multiplats.. These consoles really feel like low end entry level pc's in my eyes now, that have less features than last gen.. Even the majority of the exclusives on these systems are either mediocre or something that there are alternatives to playing that are multiplat.. The fighting genre is a huge example of this.. Beginning to mid of last gen fighting games was considered a console exclusive genre.. Meaning if you were a fighting fan, you basically had to own one of the consoles to enjoy it up until this point.. Fast forward to the end of last gen and this gen.. The largest fighters out there are coming out on the pc.. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Blazblue, Killer Instinct, Guilty Gear, King of Fighters..
Furthermore these games are actually being released as good ports for the most part that are well optimized.. Last gen was completely hit or miss in this regard by numerous developers, but now? Not any more... Even companies like Ubisoft which release extremely buggy games have at least fixed the majority of problems within a few weeks, and even then they are no where compared to the kind of crap we got last gen.
@the_master_race: lol I'm really starting to enjoy this gen. It did have a slow start but now it's really starting to become great. Not butthurt, sorry.
it's going to start being great once this newer batch of games start rolling in. As of today it is still a very weak gen
And I feel sorry for those of us who actually bought a fucking console (ps4 in my case). Seriously the last 3 generations were LIGHT YEARS ahead of this one in terms of quality games.
I only have bloodborne, and destiny, which i cant bring myself to play because we all know how bad it is

Although the logic of your argument (based on two games) isn't the most sound, I agree.
The worst console generation since Atari.
If you own either an Xbox One or PS4 and can find nothing to play out of all the excellent multiplats let's face it you don't like games.
If you own a PC and bought either of those consoles expecting a long stream of exclusives you did NO research and you're basically a bit stupid but we won't hold it against you.
Wii U has plenty of great games too if review scores are to be believed. Not my thing anymore, but Wii U owners are more than happy with what they've got. They are like everyone else, if the games were shit they would say so.
There are tons of games out there for EVERY platform this gen and tons more to come.
I haven't been incredibly impressed up to now. I do think e3 was great this year but most of what I want will be on PC. I sold of both my PS4 and my One. I will be sticking with the Wii U, which I love, and my PC. Just waiting for the Fury X reviews to come in to decide on that or a 980ti.
Yes, I think we can all agree that this generation hasn't started off stellar.
That said, there have been some solid titles you didn't mention. Sunset Overdrive was great fun. Ori and the Blind Forest was one of the best games I have ever played. Bayonetta 2 was stellar.
The next 18 months look like they could turn this around. There are dozens of solid looking titles coming out.
It's been two years. Look back at last generation. How many legitimately amazing games did we get in the first two years? Not a freakin' lot, brah. Calm down.
@Boddicker: I tried to google for Doom but it shows up Spring 2016. It could be 2015, but if it is, they havnt updated the wiki.
Damn. I could have sworn it had Nov 2015 release date.
No, they said Spring 2016 when they revealed the game at E3
It's really funny how much I wax nostalgic for all the games and consoles that came out in the 90's and early-mid 00's because those truly were the good ole days of gaming. Back then there was none of this DLC and season pass bullshit. We actually got a complete game disc for $50, and we didn't have to fork over an extra $50-$60 for a stupid fucking paywall fee just to play our games online.
That truly was a great time to be a console gamer, unlike today. It's ironic that the more console technology evolved and improved, the gaming experience kept getting worse and worse.
Great circle jerk going on in here. You guys should advertise this thread in gaming related comment sections. lol
I think this generation is and will become just like the last BTW. Only better looking.

yrXbox360 didn't have a bad first year, Dreamcast did and it died. PS2 didn't start off with amazing games either but look where it ended. Similarly Xbox360 slowed down to a halt at its end in comparison to the sluggish PS3.
See my point? Things vary at the start and this gen is no different. Battlefront Star Wars, The Order both games that demolish anything done last gen with ease. Open your eyes... Have you seen how the last battlefield looked on last gen consoles compared to this gen? And that's a game thats already been outclassed.
Lose the nostalgia bullshit. resitance fall of man, Forza 3, PD0 etc were all poor indications of "next gen" graphics at the time. Have you people have such short memory ? Yes you all do.
As for me, and my PS4 we shall enjoy the hell out of this gen because its already looking better than PS3 did.
I only own a playstation 4 (excluding my PC of course) and I've had a pretty good time this far.. Thow show 14, Second Son, Destiny, LBP3, Inquisition, Bloodborne, and even some "shitty" games like 5Club, and Wack.. i found enjoyable. That and moving forward TW3, Batman AK, MGS5, BO3, Dragon Quest, NHL16, GoW collection, and UC collection.. theres going to be a lot of gaming this holiday season. NOW.. as i stated many times.. if you owned/own a PS3 there's not alot to get excited about on the PS4. XBO is in a little better space. And yes with a lot of games going to the PC.. its hard to argue the value of the current gen in their current state. ..but to say that last gen was oooooh so much better after 1.5 yrs? You're smoking crack.
