This generation is one of the worst I have ever played

Exactly why I dont own any consoles this gen, 1.5 years in and I have missed nothing but high hardware costs.

I learned my lesson with the ps3 I paid almost 700 for mine and it was pretty much a dust collector, by the time it actually got games it was much cheaper.

This gen so far has sucked, seeing how I dont own any consoles because there is no reason to buy one ywt.

@Advid-Gamer: people have short term memory. Sure there were great games available, but i could counter ANY title someone comes up with (even though they're multiplats). THATs the difference.. last gen those games were "exclusives".. this gen the sequels are multiplats.

I own a PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

I use my PC and PS4 all the time. I barely use my Xbox One, and I hope that changes next year.

The gen definitely started out slow, but we are getting some quality releases this year (on Xbone anyway).

But it's not nostalgia. For the first time ever, a previous gen is more than highly playable next to a current gen.

It is. Aside from playing old games and the occasional Smash Brother match, my Wii U gathers dust. I've been on my PC for the most part.

Yes....I am particularly disapointed in Nintendo, at this rate I will be lucky if I own 15 wii u games before the NX comes out.

Yeah the consoles blow outside of Platinum Games stuff and From Software.

Luckily independent developers are still pumping out actual quality, plus the PC is still glorious.

HUH ? The hell are you talking about.... After Xbox360 came out I continued to play my PS2 and even after PS3 came out till it had good games. Seriously how new to gaming is SW lol

I didn't say you couldn't play older games. What I meant to say was, for the first time, last gen games stand up to current gen games quite easily. This gens nothing but 'a bit' of a graphics upgrade.

Battlefield 4, PS3 vs PS4... It runs like crap on last gen consoles. Star Wars Battlefront a true next game come of the same engine, looks Incredible.

Gran Tursimo 6 vs Drive Club ... DC has better effects, real 3D backgrounds, better models etc

Now lets talk about open world games, you think Witcher 3 can run on PS3/360?

and these are all just first wave of "next gen" games. Akin to what CoD2, Doa4, Pd0, R:Fom were and they didn't look great either. Not until games like Gears of War, Uncharted did we actually see next gen graphics in full. Similarly UC4, Battlefront, Horizon all show us what the next gen is truely capable of not only in terms of graphics but physics, scale etc. Slight upgrade my ass .. I'm sorry.

All those games could run on last gen hardware with lower graphics. Hardly anything makes better use of physics or ai. None of the worlds are anything that couldn't have been done before.

As for graphics, sure, they're starting to get a bit better, but I'm not convinced it's a good enough leap after an 8 year gen. Mostly I see more detailed higher definition textures and better lighting.

Uncharted 4 can run on PS3?

With lower graphics, you think it couldn't? Is there anything outside of the graphics that requires newer hardware?

Lmao... You mean Uncharted 4 can run on PS3, just without the open world, AI, reduced number of people on screen, etc that are all additive to the gameplay much less the graphical fidelity needed to convey it all. Basically not even the same game

With lower quality graphics, the last gen consoles could handle an open world game with many people on screen. As for ai, that's something that is slow and hard to develop, don't expect massive leaps there.

At 30fps, even FH2 didn't look amazingly better over last gen games.

I agree. If it weren't for Nintendo still making gems here and there, non PC gaming would be dead to me. Xbone and PS4 are currently fucking jokes. Even PC games doesn't come often nowadays, but it looks it's about to change somewhat with Unreal Tournament, Doom, Deus Ex, Fallout 4, Overwatch and shit on the way. FPS glory, but that's what PC is doing best..

LOL ignore the physics, needed to ave Drake interact with more people and items on screen. It cannot run on PS3 simple and short, and its not just a graphical issue.

If you strip a game of everything integral to its proper function and run it on a cellphone, I wonder which you'd rather play..

Forza Horizon 2? Forza isn't exactly a looker.

It's still the least interesting console hardware leap ever. It just hasn't felt as significant as previous leaps. Nes to SNES, SNES to N64, N64 to Xbox, Xbox to Xbox 360 or PS3.

Arkham Knight is supposed to be a true next gen game, it doesn't look as good as I thought it would. Lighting is better, certain characters have more detail and the Batmobile has a lot going on.

The ps4 is like a high end pc from 2009 and it isn't all that more powerfull than the ps3. It's mainly a lot better in terms of resolution, that means it has a better graphics card.

But cpu wise the system is not a leap like in previous gens, not only that the cpu did a lot of gpu work last gen.

The difference between ps1 and ps2 is night and day and the ps2 was the weakest console of its generation (if you don't count the dreamcast). The ps2 was about 20 times more powerfull than the ps1. The ps4 is only about 6 times more powerfull than the ps3 and this is mainly because of the graphics card.

Sony advertises the ps4 as the strongest console ever made, but relatively speaking when comparing to other gens, together with the xboxone it's the weakest console of all time. Never has a console been released that thad the power equivalent of 5 year old tech.

And yes games liek the witcher could run on a ps3, the resolution would be as low as 480p or even 360p though but that's all graphics card. Heck a lot of games remasters and crossgen games on ps4 and x1 are just pc ports that would have ran on 5 year old pc's.

lol a gen used to only be about fives years long traditionally, how long do I have to wait? Also it's a bit ironic that ease of development was touted with this gen, but it takes them so long to start giving us games that just wouldn't have worked last gen.

The other consoles had games which showed the difference really quickly. They had games that looked better before the console even came out.

You think it took the PS2 two years to have vastly better looking games than the PS1? That was the worst example considering just how weak the PS1 was.

Even the blandest of E3 tech demos used to show a massive leap before.

From NES 8 bit 2D Super Mario Bros to SNES 16 bit 2D Super Mario World was huge. From SNES 16 bit 2D to full 3D on the N64. From N64s low flat 3D polygon count to the Xbox pushing millions of rounded polygons. From Xbox 3D graphics to the Xbox 360 which was vastly more powerful and showed it straight away eg going from PGR 2 to PGR 3 for example. The Rare games on each of these platfroms have always looked vastly better from the off.

Hasn't been like that for the most part this gen. There's been a couple of games I that look better. But for the most part nothing is blowing me away, like spend over £400 blowing me away. I've always early adopted, but never regretted it until this gen. I shouldn't have to wait this long. It's not my problem, they release these things, they had better make it worth while early on with impressive graphics and lots of exclusives. Haven't been getting that.
