[QUOTE="manny280"][QUOTE="goblaa"]Seriously guys, what is this? An adventure game? A shooter? What?goblaa
survival horror like resident evil and silent hill
Ah cool, thank you. I can never understand hype around games that no one knows anything about. It's like when people hype disaster or afrika.
Do we know anything else, like what you are surviving against? Or the setting or story?
I mean, the tech stuff is cool and all, it's just hard to be intrested in a game that has shown so little game play.
Its by the same devs who made Max Payne. As a big fan of that series, thats all I need to know.
[QUOTE="Killfox"][QUOTE="c_smithii"]Not that impressive.
Have you played Mass Effect now that game is impressive.
ZIMdoom
Yeah um open world like crysis with insane physics like crysis and wih awesome graphics to boot. Im sorry but mass effect doesnt compare to this game.
I've got to totally and completely disagree with you. I was highly anticipating Alan Wake...until I saw that trailer. The game looks quite mediocre unless they show close-ups of peoples faces. Even then they aren't any more extraordinary that we we are seeing NOW for games.
Sorry, but until more information and videos come out, this game just slipped a notch. I think this game is driven more by fanboy hype that actual objectivity.
Its a low res trailer.
Its in the same league as Crysis. In fact I think the water looks more realistic.
Mass Effect is nowhere near that level of graphics. ME doesnt even have real time lighting and shadows.
[QUOTE="froidnite"][QUOTE="Art_424"]If you think you would require a top of the line card to run this game at 1024*768 with very little to no AA with other settings equal to that found on X360, you have mistaken.which also means that game will only run fully optimized withnewer graphic cards almost around the cost of a console, while the console versionwill run the game at a decent settings without overspending!, you should also do some research yourself!
Art_424
Alan wakes graphics are top notch, I dont expect a $100 card to fully run it maxed out!. Ifits going to run it at medium settings than there's no point in getting a pc, since the 360 will look similar.
8800gt runs multiplatform games at double the framerate of the 360. It runs Bioshock for example with V-sync at 60+ fps.
That card is only $250 now and will be cheaper by release time.
Max Payne supported mods so Alan Wake may also.

Crysis is a demanding game but it sold over 1 million, which means the Alan Wake also has a high chance of selling over 1 mil if its good

When did you play Alan Wake?
I don't think the 360's CPU is going to be able to handle that. The Xenos could probably do the graphics, but God only knows how much Ram that game's gonna need.
I can't help but think Alan Wake would be a great opportunity to test the full power of the PS3's SPUs. If only Microsoft hadn't snatched a publishing deal out of remedy at the last minute. Sony could probably get one of their own if they ponied up the cash for their own contract.
Oh well, Ces't la vie.

But you insinuated it yourself, that there would be a RAM issue. It would be interesting to see how well the PS3 could handle Alan Wake with its powerful processor, but the lack of RAM on the PS3 would make it difficult.
I wonder how Insomniac is bypassing these issues, especially with Resistance 2, which is supposed to be a huge game.

actually ME does, i think u meant to say ME doesn't have dynamic lighting like crysis and battle fielf bad company.
I dont think its gonna be a huge gap between 360 and PC. In fact i dont even think the PC version will be so amazingly superior.
Bioshock which yes looked better on PC and played better because of controls. Ultimately didnt suck on 360. IT looked great. Fantastic even.
SO i think the Hermit Elitists need to calm down. ITs not gonna be such a massive difference. jg4xchamp
yeah the devs said they are making the 360 verison look as good as the pc verison...so that might mean the pc verison won't be as good as it could be...but that could also mean they are really pushing the 360 and we seeing what future devlopment on these consoles can turn out in games.
when is this supposed to come out?
It seems I have been waiting for a very long time with little info.
[QUOTE="Koalakommander"][QUOTE="Killfox"]The question is when is it coming out. Ive been waiting very long and patiently. Killfox
360 owners dont wait for anything silly!
Last time I checked the PC is lead platform. Sorry.
that's the way it should be, if they take long enough I mite have a nice quad core to play it with
[QUOTE="EnergyAbsorber"]When I clicked on that link and then scrolled down I noticed one of the viewers comments was "too bad it wont look like that on 360". Soim wondering how big of a difference the graphics will be between PC and 360 versions. Is there any comparison screens of both versions or is it too early?Killfox
The 360 version has yet to be shown.
be funny if they cut the level in half or if it looked like a average 360 game

Exactly, I dont't know why lemmings are hyping Alan Wake, as it will look nothing like that on 360. I'm thinking the PC min reqs will be a similar to the specs of the 360.
min specs will be much like crysis i'd say[QUOTE="UnrealSin_X"]Going to be a great game IMO, too bad it wont have many sales on the pcthough...Killfox
Yeah you keep saying that. Last time I checked PC are not just sold in the US which is not where most game sales come from. Europe is where all the sales from.
It has a lot of potential, but so did Crysis.
I also doubt that the game will run that well and look that good on an XBOX 360. Last time I checked, the 360 did not have an overclocked 4 core 3.73GHz CPU.
AIH_PSP
well crysis lived up to all the hype and destoryed the 360's halo 3 so your point?
[QUOTE="Killfox"][QUOTE="shadyd1717"]Im like ...fiending for new info on this game. This is the only game that can get me to buy a 360.
Unless Mass Effect goes to PC next year, then i'll just upgrade my PC.
shadyd1717
Why would you get this game for 360 if its going to be on PC???
Cuz theres nothing else on PC that really entices me to upgrade, years ago it had a bunch of games I liked and my comp. was upgraded so i got to play them all, but now it feels like its just flooded with a bunch of strategy-like games or world of warcraft stuff (minus crysis which i'd love to try out), PC's the best for FPS but everything else I usually play on consoles (except both Max Payne's), either way im upgrading my PC when i move out but i'd rather buy a 360 for 1 game then upgrade my PC for 1 game, thats why I said unless Mass Effect goes to PC then i'll upgrade cuz i think its worth it for both games.
But overall I guess you're right, Im better off just upgrading but I wanna move out first before I do so it all depends on when Alan Wake comes out I guess.
and what does ps3 have over pc right now? hs, uncharnted what else?

i really think the PC gfx argument is silly. sure, it will look better on the PC. that much better? nah...compare Bioshock or COD4. there's really not a night and day difference.
and those games take buget pc's to run at consoles setting. 8600gt can max out bioshcok and high on cod 4 which is better than the 360 so your point?
That whole video was just one big marketing stunt, thats all. I thought it was pretty funny when the Intel rep was all "THIS IS THE FASTEST COMPUTER ON THE PLANET!?" freakin douche bag. I remember when Crytek hyped all of their quad core crap, but when Crysis finally released it wasn't even optimized for a quad cores. There is no performance gain in Crysis when you use a quad over a dual so I guess I'll believe it when I see the benchmarks w/ these Alan Wake folks.
