What modding is all about; giving players more variety and freedom, improving the game, adding to it, extending its life, broadening the game beyond what was intended, you can take a game and turn it into a different genre. It is tons of free DLC. This is what you are opposing. In favor of $10 map packs and subcription fees.

If you don't want to take advantage of mods, then don't. Advocating that the removal of them is beneficial to users is foolish beyond belief.

Blaming the removal of decicated server support on the users for being hackers and pirates is such an incredibly blase excuse amongst the irksome ignoramuses. First of all removing features and functionality for all users would be much much worse than the most restrictive copy protection in existence. It punishes all users in a very noticeable and impactful fashion. Let's say your assumption is correct, how you could justify DRM like this is beyond me, just like the rest of your logic.


Secondly IWnet's success as DRM is...unproven. Pirates are playing the game online just fine. IWnet does nothing. If anything it makes it easier for pirates as they don't need to set up their own servers. And it's easier for hackers to grief people as there is no real way to avoid them now. Of course this whole setup also makes it easier for people to justify pirating the game. And it also does nothing to prevent them from playing the singleplayer. So if stifling piracy and hackers was the goal with IWnet I'd say it's doing a pretty poor job so far...

The amount of facepalm in this thread is giving me a headache. The PC costing $1000 and upgrading every year comments are so st*pid. You guys wanna know on what ancient piece of kit I am playing today's games on?

I am still using my old PC from 2004. It's got a single core 2.2Ghz CPU, 1GB of RAM and the only thing I upgraded was the GPU and the PSU. I had this PC for 6 years now, and I can still play most of the modern games that are not too much CPU dependant. I can play COD 4 at 720p on max setting easily and getting between 40-50fps....

PC don't need to be upgraded every year, you can have a PC for a long time, expect if you want to play all the latest games maxed out at 1080p then you will need to invest a little bit more and maybe have to upgrade every 2-3 years.

The amount of FAIL in this thread is beyond a joke, a mod should close this thread...

Buying a prebuilt PC is as easy as buying a console except you get more for your money which is actually cheaper than a console if you buy more than a few games.

The ps3 PPE is has fast has a power 5 processor clocked at 1.8ghz according to xbench.

That processor used to be found on the 2003 powermac g5 :P

Well I'm going to be generous (...) one is an in order cpu the other out of order, xbench didn't benchmarked the spe's and neither the altivec units on both processors.

But of course that build completely wipes the floor with the poor ps3.
