They don't count digital sales, so we don't know how poorly or how well it sold.
@GoldenElementXL: Bloodborne sold better then expected, so no idea why you brought that up. UC4 is closing in on 5 million games so I'm not really seeing what your point is overall?
My comment was in response to the other users "Cows have standards" comment regarding game sales figures and quality. When less than 10% of a userbase owns the "must have" titles dictated by this forum, that seems to say something about their standards. So acting like Cows have some sophisticated taste is nonsense. They are the reason COD, GTA V, NBA 2K and Destiny continue to chart.
As someone that owns Titanfall 2, the truth is Titanfall 1 is just a better game.
Lots of the hardcore Titanfall 1 fans arent buying it because its not as good as the first game. T2 is fun but the changes to the Titan mechanics isnt good and adding the grappling hook was also not smart.
They fell for the '40 million PS4s = more sales' hype.
Its a fun game, but the new Titan mechanics turned it into CoD. People liked Titanfall because it wasnt CoD. At least they are going with free updates.
@oflow: I quite like the new titans myself. Though I kinda miss my old titan that had a vortex shield and 40MM with 3 round burst, I'm having a lot of fun switching out Titans, to see which one fits the situation best.
A big fan of Northstar myself. And Ronin can really reck other players if you know how to use it well.
What's wrong with the grappling hook ? I never use it myself, as it seems awfully slow.
@R4gn4r0k: I like the new models of Titans I just dont like some of the new mechanics of how they work. I also dont like being able to swap loadouts on the fly. To me the point of having different classes of Titans makes the game more strategic. You pick a tanky Titan you get tanky weapons and loadouts etc.
I also hate that detonation bar that telegraphs Titans health. The hook lets you rodeo too easily and it makes traversal not as necessary.
Dont get me wrong I think its fun, I'm just saying what I think and I hear other Titanfall 1 players saying.

I think you're in the minority then. Not too many people think Titanfall 1 is better than Titanfall 2. And have you played the campaign? My goodness the campaign is phenomenal.
@mr_huggles_dog: TF1 sold better than SFV
You're comparing a good game to a shit game.
Of course it sold more.
Cows have standards.
Well then what happened to Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 sales then? With 40+ million consoles out there, Cows seem to only play Destiny, COD, GTA V and sports games.
You know this will be ignored.
I know, its such a compelling argument.
How about I do, in fact, ignore it so you can continue to stroke your dick all confident like the bad guy in Inspector Gadget cartoons.

I do like the new battery system though.
If you can pull the battery out of an enemy Titan, you can put it in yours and get a shield.
Even if you have a 'core exposed' bar, you can still put a battery in there and prolong the life of your Titan.
It's a cool risk-reward system because rodeoing an enemy titan is really risky.
TBH, I don't leave a lot of pilots rodeoing me anymore. And the first games I played, I had no clue what to do xD
@GoldenElementXL: Everyone I know thinks so. And most of the feedback after the beta said so as well. The first game has better maps and I liked the perk system better. I also may be in the minority on this but I felt having the AI bots in the MP games added to it.
The campaign was ok I beat it last night. I wouldnt call it 'phenomenal'. Too many travesal puzzles for the sake of having them and having the ghosting which shows you how to beat it seems kind of defeating the point. I actually wouldnt of cared if it wasnt there.
I'd give it an 8.

Lmao yeah how about that ignoring that you couldn't accomplish? HAHAHAHAHA
A remaster of a 5 year old game took 2nd place. And people wonder why this gen is remasters after remasters...
The human stupidity knows no bounds...
A remaster of one of the largest most enjoyable, best selling and critically acclaimed games in recent years takes 2nd place.
This does not mean people are stupid, just that either they didnt play it before, or that they want to experience the game again.
Indeed the PS4/X1 version of GTA5 was inside the top best selling games of 2015 in the UK and that is a newer game than skyrim.
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/the-year-that-was-2015-in-numbers/0161201
just because its a game that sells well, it doesn't make people that buy it stupid.
Millions of people by COD, NBA or Madden or Fifa despite them being pretty similar each year.
I don't see how you can class people as stupid for enjoying a game. In fact, its a pretty stupid thing to do since you don't know them.
I dont care what GTA V remaster sold. Two wrongs dont make one right. I doubt the people buying Skyrim remaster never played it before. It might be true for a very strict group but I'm positively sure most buyers are just double dipping on a 5 year old game they already played ad nauseam just because it has prettier graphics. Lets face it: the game sold millions upon millions of units. Are you really telling me its selling very well again because these people havent played it before? Highly doubt it.
Millions of people buy COD, NBA and FIFA every year, true, and those very same people are considered stupid within the gaming community. They may not have a IQ below average but they are certainly desregarded as "real" gamers within the gaming community.
Fact is: This gen is being abused by remasters after remasters after remasters and its a trend that doesnt seem to stop. People may say: "well, just dont buy it then" but the sad truth is that both publishers and developers may gather their resources and time to make these so called "remasters" (that hardly ever are substantially better than the original releases) instead of making new games.
And people buy into this like the cattle they are, buying these things instead of supporting new good games... Its their money, sure, it doesnt mean I cant be critical on what they decide to spend it on
It's because when you look at Titanfall you just see another game that we have already seen 1,000 times over.
this I dont agree with. the mech combat in titanfall is definitely new. Other games have had mechs/vehicles but Titanfall actually added a lot of new stuff to the genre.
It was definitely a calculated risk that may not work out. It's not that TF2 is a bad game; its actually pretty awesome. I think the FPS space is just full of quality shooters right now. BF1 has so much hype, even though its pretty content starved. Then theres still carry over from games like Halo 5, Rainbow Six, and Overwatch that continue to receive free updates. Then you essentially have two COD's coming out in November + BLOPS3's most recent DLC. Hopefully the decision to make all TF2 DLC free will keep the game going for a while.

Besides all that, why is it assumed new = fun?
@ghosts4ever: I've been a lurker on this site for a while now and I usually laugh at most the idiots on here (namely Tomatoes or whatever his name is. The guy with the severe broken English)
But I had to make a account just to tell you how stupid you sound. SP? More important in a FPS? That's why Overwatch isn't popular right? Or CSGO? Because SP in a FPS just keeps people logging on for HOURS each day lol
Just...please...stop posting.

tell that to Half life. System shock, Deus Ex, Doom, Half life, Crysis, Stalker, Metro, FEAR, and many more FPS in history.
even Battlfeild is getting SP. so yes SP always play important part in FPS genre.
@ghosts4ever: really? Is that why they are near the top on Twitch? Because SP in FPSs add so much replay ability that people want to both play AND watch others play? No. You are delusional.
In an age where Internet is easily accessible, people want to play against other people. Which is why a MP only game (that's fun) will do better than a SP only FPS that's even great.
Sorry to burst your bubble. I know you're one of those "bu...Bu...but mah story" players but it's the 2016 truth. Get over it.
lol all these arguments from people that never played the game. It's not selling well because it's not a good game. TF1 hit 7 million sold on a much smaller userbase because it was a good game. The people that brought it weren't CoD and BF fans. The issue is the beta came out and it sucked. they made it CoD with mechs when TF1 was something different and lost their fan base. I had 50+ people on my friends list with titanfall 1. everyone played it and loved. When the beta for TF2 was out my FL was full of people playing it and they all hated it myself included. The forums and twitter for the game were full of negative comments. Respawn chased the CoD crowd and dumbed the game down and it cost them

How did they dumb the game down?
Obvious sales flop was obvious from a mile away. I've been saying for ages that TF2 would sell badly, it has too much competition from BF1 and COD and it's not nearly as popular as those two other franchises.
@R4gn4r0k: no shields for mechs, faster TTK, less customization for mechs, less AI on maps, no hackable turrets on maps, the maps now have lanes that funnel you towards the action and there are less areas to chain wall runs together. They themselves said that for titanfall 2 they set out to make the game less chaotic

How did they dumb the game down?
slower overall, no shields for mechs, slower mechs, grappling hook, lower TTK, Poor map design (they went from open maps to maps with lanes), no titan loadouts really (each titan has a theme now with it's own weapon) no burn cards, no AI, no smart pistol (i never used it except attrition though), nerfed anit-titan weapons, no sidearm (you have to choose between a sidearm and anti-titan weapon), no rodeo to down a titan now it's a canned animation. Just off the top of my head
In respawns own words the 1st game was "too hectic" and "too hard to get better at" people were "dying and not really knowing what they did wrong to be able to improve" "it was too difficult when pilots could come from anywhere with the maps we had so we added lanes"
Plus their new game mode is crap, the best tactic is make the enemy team do all the work during a wave then ambush them at the bank kill them steal their money and deposit it for yourself. The 1st TF was all about SPM and staying moving, the new one is about camping and watching lanes aka CoD
Obvious sales flop was obvious from a mile away. I've been saying for ages that TF1 would sell badly, it has too much competition from BF1 and COD and it's not nearly as popular as those two other franchises.
TF1 sold over 7 million copies. and it came out at the beginning of the gen when there weren't a lot of XB1s out there. I'm pretty sure it's still the best "somewhat exclusive/exclusive" game in terms of sales. I don't think Halo 5 or UC4 hit those numbers yet.
@darkangel115: I think TF2 is a great game. I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but the single player is exceptional. It's honestly the first game in a long time to make me feel and play like I would in multiplayer.
I don't know how long the single player portion is....I hear it's pretty short, but for those who don't play on the highest difficulty the first time around, it won't be that bad since the word is the highest difficulty makes the game even better. So I get to go around for another spin.
I'm playing on the difficulty below the hardest and it's actually a nice challenge. Enemies don't respawn over and over again and the action keeps moving. Not to mention it runs very well and looks great.
Can't wait to play the multiplayer.
@darkangel115: grappling hook if used correctly makes traversal just as fast if not faster then tf1, titan battery system negates the need for shields, not all titans are slow, what's wrong with the grappling hook?, ttk feels fine to me but this is easily adjustable via an update, poor map design is subjective, they stated why they went with titan specific load outs numerous times and from a gameplay perspective makes sense, burn cards were replaced but I personally would like to see them return, there is ai in bounty hunt and attrition, the smart pistol is in the game, titan weapons are fine. Titans aren't all waking tanks anymore so no need to make the anti weapons overpowered, yes the old rodeo was removed due to the new battery system being implemented. Both are fun to me but the new system encourages more team play. It's not as exciting per se anymore though, additionally, that bounty hunt strategy only works against players who aren't that good at the game.
Seems like the game is being underrepresented in the media, it's been out for 3 days and yet only 31 Metacritic reviews for PS4 and 17 for Xbox One? Gears 4 had almost 50-60 reviews after like 2 days if memory serves me right. I guess the reviews staff is spread too thin, publications have a certain amount of reviewers working at the office and they cannot just recruit new ones to help with the holiday rush, or at least I would assume that is how most places work.
As someone that owns Titanfall 2, the truth is Titanfall 1 is just a better game.

i dont think the 1st one sold better because it was a better game.
the first one had tons of hype...... it was supposed to be the call of duty killer. it was created by the makers of cod4 and mw2.
thats why everybody rushed out to try it.
after the dust settled a lot of people didn't like it. that's why 2 is selling less. the hype isnt there. ps4 owners have no connection to the game because they didnt get the first one so ps4 sales weren't as expected either.

You are telling us you made an account for the sole reason to tell people off ?
Most people create an account on here because they want to talk about games. You did so because you want to insult people.
I'm sorry to tell you, but I don't think System Wars is the place for you. There are many hellholes on the internet filled with people that love insulting eachother, try those places !

But the AI is one of the most hated features of Titanfall 1.
I heard so many people complain about that. How "AI doesn't have any place in a competitive online FPS"
I kinda agree with the lanes though. But I don't think map design is that bad :/
slower overall, no shields for mechs, slower mechs, grappling hook, lower TTK, Poor map design (they went from open maps to maps with lanes), no titan loadouts really (each titan has a theme now with it's own weapon) no burn cards, no AI, no smart pistol (i never used it except attrition though), nerfed anit-titan weapons, no sidearm (you have to choose between a sidearm and anti-titan weapon), no rodeo to down a titan now it's a canned animation. Most of the titans have shields. They all have a different shield which is cool.
TBH I like the "boost" system way better than the "burn card" system. I just seem to horde stuff I can only use once, afraid to spend it at the wrong time xD
It's a shame Respawn listened to so many complaints though, complaints from people who were obviously never invested in the game.
Obvious sales flop was obvious from a mile away. I've been saying for ages that TF1 would sell badly, it has too much competition from BF1 and COD and it's not nearly as popular as those two other franchises.

I dunno about that.
You're forgetting that TF1 was $5 for a long time on Origin because the servers were on life support.
Edit: I meant to say TF2 in my original post not TF1, it's a typo.
@ghosts4ever: because the "complete package" has a generic tacked on single player and a multiplayer that isn't as good as the first game with less modes
Just wanted to post this review which contradicts what mems is saying.
According to the reviewer who played 20 or so hours....theres more modes and balance fixes in the multiplayer.
Heres the review:
In the video, a round table of IGN reviewers is shown as they begin to discuss how they review games. Audrey Drake begins by explaining how she normally reviews games. She says she usually portions off a good part of her day and spends hours taking notes and playing a game until she beats it or has a good enough indication of what the game is about. The round table then laughs as Marty Sliva explains to the audience why they are laughing.
“Normally, we don’t lock ourselves in a room to review a game,” says Sliva, “That may be the case in the old days where only nerds were the ones critiquing games but today, it’s a professional business. For example, sometimes EA helps support our reviews by giving us a comfortable, professional room to play and review games in. A few times, they’ve even done it for games that aren’t even theirs.”
Justin Davis then interjects, “I can tell a few people are already going to go into a gamer rage saying that we shouldn’t accept any of this EA quote unquote bribery. It’s not bribery people, lighten up. As far as I know, EA has never told us to change a review. I admit that I am friends with some people at EA but friends can give friends things without it being a problem. No one ever says it’s a problem in real life situations so why should it apply here?”
“It’s true,” says Dan Stapleton, “We know a lot of companies who accept things from places like EA and it doesn’t affect anything. For example, Mass Effect 3 had scores ranging from Edge’s eight to Game Informer’s ten. We gave it a nine and a half. People can look at this range of scores and say, oh, I guess people do have different opinions and no one is being paid off.”
Davis responded to Stapleton’s comment saying, “Yeah, people really need to think for themselves. I mean, we don’t even take money from EA, they’re just nice enough to give us stuff like free swag."
le currupt.
@mr_huggles_dog: lol ign lol
Yes...but who are you?
someone who actually plays games, unlike ign
"Experts" at IGN claimed that the human eye can't see above 30 fps (could've been 24fps too)
So yeah, I doubt they play many games.
@mr_huggles_dog: lol ign lol
Yes...but who are you?
someone who actually plays games, unlike ign
But you have an agenda.
So it's not like you're any better - even if R4gn4r0k claims whatever ridiculous embargo complaint thats supposed to make anyone feel better about you.
Speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, Respawn's Drew McCoy said that although he wasn't sure who came up with the prescribed launch date, there was no room for maneuver and that he doesn't tend to think about other games around release.
"I actually don’t know where the decision came from. I just know it was locked in a long time ago and there was no changing it," he says. "I’m not really worried about it. We tried not to [worry] really…When you care about what other games are doing, when they’re releasing [, you worry]. At the end of the day, we’re releasing a game that we’re happy with, and we enjoy playing, that we’re proud of.
"As long as we’re doing that, I think we’re gonna find an audience. It doesn’t really matter when it comes out. A good game gets noticed."
http://www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-2s-launch-date-could-not-be-changed-says-game-producer/
This DEVELOPER pissed off microsoft and sony and all there fans by going exclusive and then was trying to say they love ps4 for titanfall 2... They pissed off a lot of gamers with no campaign which CoD ALWAYS has a good one that i play through.
FU respawn FU!
I HOPE THIS DEV gets hurt worse than EVOLVE.
Go make your crap star wars game like Dice did.
I'll be playing Jedi knight Outcast and the original battlefronts and force unleashed your horrible your absolutely terrible stay away from star wars.
@mr_huggles_dog: TF1 sold better than SFV
You're comparing a good game to a shit game.
Of course it sold more.
Cows have standards.
Then why does TF2 still have more players on Xbox despite having half as many consoles out there?
More idiots on Xbox that would buy that trash.

I have EA access so I'll probably play the SP for free anyway. the MP isn't worth my time

your entitled to you opinion, but some things are factually wrong. the grappling hook takes away the skill that was needed for a rodeo as well as the risk. It also replaces a loadout spot meaning you can't use stim (which I used 90+% of the time in TF1, so losing stim slows the game down a lot. It also removes the skill needed to parkour up buildings. Map design is poor is a fact, at least compared to what the original was. respawn flat out said they added lanes in the maps and they are too open to use the parkour system. smart pistol isn't a load out. sidearm is removed. no more rodeo kills i mean it's completely dumbed down noob friendly version of TF1 and clearly the TF1 fans aren't buying the game
