To the MGS haters out there...

Do you honestly believe that MGS is a BAD game? or do you thing that its at least a good game that you just dont care for, for any reason such as story, or gameplay etc.

...or we are just happy with our current library or just don't like stealth games.

I don't like any action or a story in my sneaking games.

i decided to build a new rig instead of buying a ps3 so ill have to wait till christmas time to play MGS.

There's a big difference between true fans of the series and the MGS fanboys that plague most of the internet.

I just have a hard time getting into the games. If you like stealth type games MGS is for you, but I tend to not play them too often.

I'd much rather play the Splinter Cell franchise simply because the stealth aspect feels more life like and I'm given the ability to go full out Rambo in the game as an alternative course of action. The story is much better IMO as well seeing how it's based more closely to real life possibilities as well.

I like to gun down robot ninjas, trick shooting cowboys, flying mindreaders and nuke powered walking tanks with missle arms in MGS.

No, the game is just mediocre looking in visuals for this gen, and is indifferent for anyone that is not in the boring gameplay of MGS series, that is all

I am sure some people like it, and FOR THEM it is fine, personally i would not touch it, at least by what i have seen for now, that is a boring colorless mediocre looking game

IMHO the story in the SC games are boring. Its basically a tom clancly plot generator. Something with terrorist doing something bad may it be some chemical or bomb threat.

People who'd played MGS know its not THAT much of a sneaking game, you can do it either way, its just you'll die more often if you do it Rambo style.

It's not like Splinter Cell where if you get caught you gotta start over, and stuff like that. (I love Splinter Cell though)

A few reasons.

1. Im just not into that kind of game. Too many games like that around these days, focusing on something "mature" and "realistic."

2. I just don't find any of the gameplay elements that appealing at all, or any of the characters.

3. I hate how it gets so much hype, yet it seems so mediocre. But that applies to a lot of things I don't like that are popular. I admit I am just totally bemused at the fact it gets so much hype, and how every time one comes out it gets hyped GOTY. None of them have had any hope of GOTY.

MGS on PSX was one of the best games I ever played. It had creative characters, excellent story, and great gameplay.

MGS2 for the PS2 was a big step down IMO. It had the most un-original characters. Fat Man some tard that skates around and plants bombs while you go around freezing them before they can explode and Vamp kicks it up another notch, because hint : He's a vampire. Then you got Raiden who nobody really liked. That was a huge stepdown from Vulcan Raven, Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis, DeepThroat, Revolver Ocelot.

The story was good, but in MGS2 I fear that Kojima got a little out there with it. All in all though no complaints on the story, mostly just the unoriginal characters.

Gameplay in MGS2 was ok. They really should have added an option to be able to move while in a first person view. This made aiming very frustrating at times. Also the stealth elements stayed exactly the same from MGS1. Whenever you get detected you just run off screen then come back with no penalty. They really should have put more attention into the stealth element if they truly want to call this a stealth game.

In the end MGS2 was a pretty good game, but it had a few flaws, and the horrible characters left a bad taste in my mouth. I never played MGS3, but I really didn't have that much desire to play it after MGS2. I'm hoping MGS4 can get me back into the series, and well if not at least it will look really pretty :P

The hype it gets from MGS fanboys is the worst part for me. I could handle it if everyone was like "yeah, MGS, good game, you should try it". But no. The whole gaming world will end at the fourth coming of Jes....I mean, MGS..........

i played mgs1, it was ok. just not my cup of tea. i may rent MGS4, but thats as far as i would go

My gosh, why can't people like you just realize that your opinion isn't fact. I enjoy sneaking games but I was bored by MGS2. I didn't see what was so great about the story (maybe because I never played the first), but the gameplay just wasn't fun IMO.
