Today, i got a call from my mom asking me if i like the Spiderman movies. I thought this was a weird question considering i hate Spiderman so i said, 'you better not be thinking of getting me a PS3.' She said, 'yes i was. Would you rather have a Spiderman movie or a Motorstorm movie?' Hah, a Motorstorm movie! I told her that i would not accept the PS3 for Christmas. I didnt turn the PS3 down because i didnt want it. I turned it down because i couldnt stand my mom spending $500 on me for a gift. Next month i will be buying myself a PS3 for my birthday. :) So has anyone else ever turned down or declined a game system for Christmas?Carmilla31

That's the only way I'd get a ps3...
I never decline anything as a gift, I feel that it is rude when someone offers you something and you A) Tell them you don't want it B) Make a sarcastic remake about the gift.
I happy about every gift I recieve, candy, cereal, boxers, socks, video games, movies... etc they all get the same praise.
I though this would be a fakeboy thread,im glad its not
all i asked for christmass was for the simpsons movie:)
If mom comes home and says, 'i bought you some milk since i was at the store' or my dad says, 'i bought you some Heineken while i was at the store' is one thing. Telling me if a want a $500 video game system is quite another. 8)I never decline anything as a gift, I feel that it is rude when someone offers you something and you A) Tell them you don't want it B) Make a sarcastic remake about the gift.

Your mom rocks.
I just bought my GF a DS, but I personally have never turned down a system...only had one (PS2) that I didn't buy myself from PSone era on.

Thats the same thing as me. I would never accept anything that cost that much as a present.HaziqonfireMe and you are the exact same. When i was younger i would be pretty much pissed if i only got one game for Christmas, i wouldnt tell my parents that though. I guess it comes with age or something but i cant allow gifts that expensive...

They only time my parents would ever buy me something expensive(this was when I was still living with them) was when they would win big at gambling. So I guess I have a different view on it, because it was never really "hard earned money" that was our play money. If it was "hard earned money" that was buying an expensive product, I would make sure I pay for atleast half of it but I wouldn't fully decline it(I never had that problem, only time they fully paid for a video game console was when I was 6 and I got a Genesis).
That is got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I only need a 360 but if someone was offering to give it to me as a gift I would accept it. Solid_Link22I was like this one day too, young grasshopper. 8)
[QUOTE="colmusterd28"]I'd rather have a bricked RRoD 360 with Bomerman than a PS3 at this point...

sure, that way you can get plenty of playing time watching your house burn down.
..ya, I told my mom not to buy me a gift because I don't celebrate Christmas, but she insists that she must get me a gift. She's expecting one from me too. I hope she won't be disappointed when I wake up on Christmas morning with the "I told you not buy me a gift" look on my face because I'm not buying her a gift. majadamusWhy dont you celebrate Christmas, if you dont mind me asking... :|

It seems youre a member of that religion too. 8)I know it doesnt but i would rather have my mom buy anything for herself then see her spend $500 on video games for me. :(Unless you're dirt poor and struggling, your mother is in debt and need to put food on the table. I don't see why you can't accept the PS3.
It doesn't make you a good person or anything.

Call me a greedy SOB or whatever but if my mom offered to buy me a PS3 i'd take it without hesitation, then i'd tell her to pick me up R&C, Uncharted, and NG:Sigma
But that was very noble of you to do something like that , kudos for not being a greedy SOB like me.

...nah, I'm an atheist.
If you parents are well off, you were lucky growing up. I was paying off my mom's bills sometimes... In highschool. If you are well off, be happy. Turning down something like that because your parents have money and are willing to show there love for you through a present is stupid. I'm sorry, but if people think he is noble then you are obviously all of the same breed.
I wish my parents cared enough to even think of giving me more than $50 for Christmas. Half the time I wouldn't get anything, or they would just pay me back some money they owed me. When you are a spoiled little brat, accept it and be happy. You know just as well as I do she is going to turn around and buy you a ton of little things that might not amount to the price of $500, but it sure as hell won't be five bucks.

Wow.
You don't need to be "dirt poor and struggling", be in debt and need to put food on the table to not want to accept expensive gifts. You're not either filthy rich or dirty poor, there's a lot of middle ground.
