Ok your point being?Led_poison
His point is that the PS3 is a year late, costs $200 more, and has worse graphics than the 360. You can argue that Ubisoft is lazy or unskilled, but the truth is that the Xbox 1 vesrions of anything were superior to the PS2. For example, Halo 1 is better looking than any PS2 game ever made (technically speaking). So, porting SCDA to the PS3 should be a breeze and it should look better.

How about Wreckless by  Activision??  9 in graphics for xbox,  and a 6 in graphics for PS2 9 months later.....

Well the test will be when VF5 comes out on 360...I think thats the first game to be ported from PS3 to 360....

If the 360 one ends up looking better, I dunno what to say...Ill probably tell me PS3 to go sit in the corner and think about what it has done (or did not do)

If it does look better than the PS3 version, all of a sudden you'll notice that the "it had extra dev time" arguement will now be a valid argument for cows. Unlike now were Oblivion looking slightly better and running slightly better is because of the PS3's "superior hardware" and has nothing to do with extra dev time

And yet whenever a 360 port on the PS3 looks bad...it is obviously because of the PS3's inferior hardware right? Can't have it both ways. How about we all agree that if a developer fails to make a game that isn't graphically strenuous in the first place, into a port with inferior graphics is obviously lazy? It is not the fault of the console itself.

We'll see if this is really a trend to come, when Assassin's Creed is released. Anyways, a 9.0 to a 7.9 is a big difference in my eyes, regardless of who reviewed it. STOP MAKING EXCUSES PEOPLE!

I'm sure it's pretty hard technically to port a game from the 360 to the PS3 (or visa versa).

You guys realize that just because a game comes out 9 months later, it doesn't mean that development on the two platforms started at the same time resulting in one having 9 months longer development time right? Reading this forum you'd get the feeling many don't.

Another fine thread of cow damage control....

DXGreat1_HGL

How is it damage control when its a port? And besides ubisoft and most of these third party devs, are just not doing a good enough job like the makers of oblivion to port the game over, taking advantage of the ps3 hardware, or even the ports would look and run better on the ps3.

Fanboys could say all they want, but the fact is, the xbox 360 has had more time for third party devs to work with there games and when ported over, they just aint doing a good job on it. Like kojima says, alot of third party devs just dont put there hearts into making great games, not all but alot and the sad thing is, when porting a game, is when there is better hardware to work with and the results of the ports are downgraded alot, just tells me the devs just dont care much for consumers who buy there games on other platforms.

Is this a surprise at all? It's a port. Second of all the PS3 fanboys have got to realize pretty much all the multiplats that Ubisoft does will be better for the 360. They develop for the 360 first then port to the PS3 and they've always preferred the Xbox as all the Tom Clancy games and I think most of their other games scored better on the original Xbox than the PS2. Pretty much all the Tom Clancy games I've always associated them with the Xbox since they've always had the superior version.

Mixed feelings. It's worth a lol seeing how cows have been bouncing around the room when multiplat games are improved over time for the PS3 and SCDA reaches them and it turns out to be somewhat worse, but still, Ubisoft AER TEH SuX. I can NEvER forgive them for murdering Far Cry on the Wii, not to mention that every Wii game they;ve made is buggy as hell and looks hideous.

All their shooters have for sure. They like the Xbox for that genre lol. Rayman Raving Rabbids a Ubisoft game is awesome though. So not all their games have sucked on the WIi.

Graphically, the game looks good, but falls short of the detailed display Sam saw on Xbox 360 last year. Players who ran through the paces in Microsoft-land will notice a slower framerate and the loss of a few small details (things like a smaller quantity of fights during the prison riot, different textures on character close-ups and no goggle-toggle when tossing on Sam's specs).

There are other areas where Sam and company suffer from a bout of PS3 hiccups too. In some instances, for example, snow falls everywhere but the top left-hand corner of the screen; Sam's hands occasionally clip into walls while he hacks at a wire; and the camera will sometime flip out as our hero climbs across a pipe. These miniscule glitches are forgivable, however, and it's actually quite fun to pull enemies into icy ponds, crack safes and hide in the shadows. Plus, the PS3 gets two additional multiplayer maps and a female spy that the 360 never saw.

True, the PS3 does get two more maps. Unfortunately, those maps are coming to Xbox Live via an update or downloadable content (free). Hahahahaha. Xbox 360 wins. Again.

Free after you've paid for the subscription to be exact.

OK once again for the people that really cant read the live subscription is just for online play not to use live in general its free to download demos, COD maps, GeoW maps and updates, trial arcade games, movie trailers, games industy documentaries such as things from IGN, gametrailer and gamespot and lots of other stuff as well, you can get all those with a free silver account

when i read reviews like this, i just can't understand where all the power of the is and what is it being used for.

it's certainly not being utilized very well for gaming.

i just don't see paying hundreds of dollars more for a ps3 when it underperforms the competition on a consistent basis, but that's just me i guess....

well, me.....and the other of countless millions who aren't buying it....

the 360 just seems to be the better gaming machine, apparently...

So what do you have to say to the fact that the Xbox 360 can barely run Quake 4?  Is it not as powerful as you thought?  The game engine for Quake 4 is 3 years old, and the Xbox 360 can barely run it!!

It's so amusing to watch fanboys back themselves into a corner. Your argument fails, and now you're trying to desperately find a way to discount his argument. It's kind of sad really.

Sorry dude, but those games do count. Regardless of scores, they still look better on the Xbox 360. Give it up.

The problem is in the difficulty of developing games on the cell... there just isn't enough people with experience of developing for something that's just so new.  On the other hand... with Xbox360 being very similar to a PC (when it comes to development) you can find alot more experienced developers for X360 games...

Perfect example was Armored core 4(?) and from what I've read the first PS3 -> X360 port was actually better on X360

The only reason the PS3 version is graphically inferior to the 360 version is because UBI obviously did not want to spend millions of dollars trying to optimize a PORT for 3 million PS3 owners. Out of the 3 million PS3 owners, I'm betting that not even half of them will end up buying the game. That's not nearly enough to cover the HUGE PS3 development costs. Sure they added 2 new levels but that's probably because they were already in development for the 360 and the 360 will also be receiving the 2 maps via LIVE. There's nothing more to it. Again, UBI just wanted to save some cash instead of spending millions on a PORT when they know they will not be making much of a profit on the PS3 version.

Quake 4 was a quick and dirty port. The Devs didn't spend nearly enough time optimizing it to make it run smoothly.

But hell, the Xbox 360 can run UE3, a much more comprehensive and powerful engine, smooth as silk, as evidenced by Gears of War, thus destroying your argument.

So if the game is better than the 360 version get it; if its not you dont buy it. You shouldnt be picky you barely have any games worth talking about.

So what do you have to say to the fact that the Xbox 360 can barely run Quake 4?  Is it not as powerful as you thought?  The game engine for Quake 4 is 3 years old, and the Xbox 360 can barely run it!!

actually you're wrong.. q4 was a rushed port from pc....  it wasn't even made for a consolel.

you really need to do more reading about this stuff...

Actually no, I'm not wrong.  Maybe Splinter Cell: Double Agent was a rush port for the PS3?  OH yeah, you don't want to figure that into the discussion, and that is what I was getting at with my post.

Just because a given game runs like turd on a platform doesn't necessarily mean that the hardware is at fault, now does it?

UBISOFT is a very sloppy developer.  They always do make halfbaked ports. (GRAW, Wii titles, This)  Double Agent wasnt that good to begin with, I have it for 360.....but it doesnt change the fact that they dont try to get the best end result out of their ports and rather get them to a point that is just playable enough to release it quicker and get get some $$$ off of it

Another fine thread of cow damage control....

squallff8_fan

No matter how you spin it,  that's a bad thing for PS3,  not good........

Ubisoft is the king of sloppy ports.  This doesnt prove anything.ironwarrior2

So why do you continually bash the Wii's graphics, using SC: DA as a prime example? :?
Please Explain.

You also say that the Prince of Persia game is "Another flop for teh little WiiWii"

So They're the kings of sloppy ports for the PS3, but not Wii?

[QUOTE="Huxley_00"]cows had there moment of glory making hundreds of threads about Oblivion

One measly game and they jump through the roof..Blinblingthing

Hmmm

Bethesda >>> Ubisoft

Or another way of saying that:
PS3 Games with 5gb installs > Games that hit an information bottleneck due to the Blue Ray drive's narrow 2X access speeds

Well say what you will, but the Tom Clancy games are consistently excellent in my opinion.

If Ubisoft games are always so bad on PS3 and Wii,  we might as well start calling those games Xbox 360 exclusives

Similarly, it's funny how people don't give credit to Bethesda for moving heaven and earth to make Oblivion run, much less run better than it did on the 360, given the PS3's hardware limitations. That's right... the PS3 is inferior to the 360 in several respects. When Todd Howard pointed this out in his EGM interview, many on the PS3 boards said he was a crummy developer. When they found a workaround for the terrible Blue-Ray access speeds, and delivered a great game despite the difficulties, who got the credit? Sony.

Ubisoft has never been good at developing for sony consoles. Compared to the other 3rd party devs like EA and Capcom.

There isn't much to say other than

When games on PS3 are looking that good with more than 7-13 months to finish. Then its clearly the devs not taking full advantage of the system

The game itself is already half@$$ed so it's no surprise that the port is even moreso.
