So you do not get it? He is mocking the unfair Zelda review. Tom McShea gave Skyward sword a 7.5 when it got nearly 10s everywhere else because he had the controls set up wrong.

Nice to know you were there the entire time the writer was playing the game, observing how he had managed to mess up the control scheme he was using from the entire duration of the game Oh what that, you're actually making gross generalisations over a number? Well, I thought there was an actual point there, oh well.

[QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"][QUOTE="lightleggy"] well you really dont know if mcshea has 0 experience with zelda franchise, as far as you know he could have been the greatest zelda fan ever and was just hugely dissapointed by SW.Heirren

McShea has played them all. He feels the OOT formula needs to be put to bed and the gameplay is dated and SS is filled to the brim with padding especially late in the game.

See in addition to the controls which people rave about but Mcshea had a problem with, this part right here is what bothers me a little bit. HE has a problem that the game didn't evolve. This tells me he's a disgruntled Zelda fanboy that had a specific type of game in mind when booting up SS. This is not an aspect of a review. What if little Timmy is playing a Zelda for the first time? What if there are tons of newcomers? Review the game at hand, please. This doesn't only bother me with Zelda, but many other titles as well--namely sports titles. Sometimes I'll look up a game that has more than one entry in the series. Game X will score higher than game Y, yet game Y improves in just about every area but is marked down because it is a similar game.

He did review the game at hand. He said that long time Zelda fans would love it. He just had many problems with the overall structure controls which are one of them. Move on people stop clinging on to one segment of a review and harping on it.

[QUOTE="lightleggy"] No, the nostalgia argument can only be used with nintendo games. and this is how nintendo nostalgia works: either you are a guy who has been living in a cage and its over 17 years old and had never heard about mario or zelda and you had never played one...OR you are a 5 years old kid who just played mario games, OR you are a guy who has played mario for a long time. the 5 years old kid wont complain, he is 5 years old and they pretty much love every single video game, just holding the controller makes them feel excited, so he can ignore all the game's flaws and when he grows up, he will love mario and wont care about the negative stuff, because he grew up with that game. you can be the kind of gamer who had played mario and nintendo games since he was a kid...and you will love every nintendo game because of this. or you can be the guy who lived under a rock and had never heard of the games, and you can like them and think they are innovative...because you had never heard about them and had never played them. thats how it goes, thats why nostalgia in nintendo games is so damn effective. you are either a kid who is about to fall for the nostalgia, or a grown up guy who already did...there are no "in betweeners" who have the choise to say if they want to be nintendo fans or not. enlightment (realizing that the games are overrated and that they just love them because of nostalgia) comes to a chosen few, I like to think those chosen few are the heroes of gaming.super600

^This is sig worthy.

Yeah! And he had to resort to writing a wall of text to destroy my arguement.

so now my arguments suck because its long? :S oh im sorry but I cant put 3 lt of water in a 1 lt bottle...

Tom McShea is a made up character used as scapegoats for the videogame review industry in order to syphon rage towards him instead of them for everything else they do that we should be in an uproar about!

Or not... Probably not.

Your arguement still fails. Shouldn't all old franchises fall under this defintion not only ninty games? Also your arguement still fails because you don't have proof people are affected by nostalgia. So either be quiet or find something else to argue about.

because the argument only applies for nintendo, because its nintendo. please go ahead and tell me about a company that was as successful as nintendo (which pretty much singlehandedly revived gaming in the 80s after the big crisis) and that it comes from the same era. atari? the guys from magnavox? the commodore guys? colleco vision? hah dont make me laugh you know that the argument fits perfectly for nintendo only, you just dont admit because this is the internet and nobody ever admits defeat in the internet, but its ok I can see you have been defeated

This is just to easy. It doesn't matter if a company is succesful or not in the past or present. You cannot determine if ninty games are affected by nostalgia with proof no matter what way you try to twist my arguement.Unless you can provide me statistical proof your arguement fails.

Length has nothing to do it. Wall of texts are visually unappealing. if you want to write a lot, use paragraphs. They're much easier to read.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Sega. Megadrive outsold the Snes in some areas, and there's a lot of nostalgia for their old systems and franchises out there.

What an idiot.

I'd question the intelligence of anyone who didn't understand his problems with the control.

Having spent a considerable amount of time with the game, I can say that, when talking about the controls, he's full of sh*t.

I'm talking about all reviewers that have reviewed the game and anyone that wants to play this game. You cannot just use the nostalgia arguement to figure out a reason to why this game is getting a lot of praise from critcs or users because you don't know if all these people haveplayed all the zeda games. That's why that arguement is flawed, but sadly it will still be used.

Are you serious or are you just wasting everyone time?

I really can't believe someone actually thinks this. You really think people only love them because of nostalgia?

That picture looks like either a 3 year old or someone with special needs drew it, its not even very funny let alone the fact he didn't give it a 6.

How he described it made it obvious he wasnt using them possible. "When I point at the sensor and link looks at the ground, I get frustrated" the game doesnt use the sensor for that. Like when your using a bow, your meant to actually hold it like a bow, not point it at the sensor.

Because one day after release we know for a fact they all beat a 50 hour game and reviewed it after finishing the game. What's also funny is how they're all just throwing around 9's and 10's like the game has zero flaws. I think in the future gamespot should let a random sytsem wars fanboy review a popular game. So he can play it for ten minutes, give it a ten, and thus making the other fanboys happy. Bread_or_Decide

Thank goodness it is perfectly acceptable to do the opposite and complain about a game one has never played. Otherwise you would be looking very silly right now.

hey guess what? no one needs to play the game to be able to put these reviewer bashers in their place. McShae's review of SS wasn't even the lowest score a reviewer has given to the game, he played it more thoroughly than anyone posting crap about him here on the site, and it's all getting rather sad. I haven't played the game but i can tell there are serious flaws to it. All these people bashing don't get a free pass until I've finally gotten around to finishing it.

.......what?

Either way it's nitpicking and removing greater context out of spite.

He didn't enjoy the game as much as other critics, woe woe woe.
