Tomb Raider on PS4 looks like crap

Lara is a cartoonish downgraded version of the Lara i played with

at 0:46 i see a person i know, a very familiar face and expression

at 0:42 i see a dowgraded version of hat face that i can barely recognize

my 400 dollars PC can run this game 1080p 60fps maxedout, so why did PS4 owners are getting a downgraded version? PS4 has almost the same power as my PC

I agree that the PS3/360 version of Lara Croft is more prettier than the new one. What the hell were they thinking? Why change her beautifull face for a barbie doll full of botox one?

You act like they built the game ground up for ps4. All they did is upgrade some textures and change her hair and face. Its a money grab

Wow, definitive edition my ass! PC utterly destroys the ps4 version in every way. The superior Lara model is so much better on PC. They should rename the ps4 version to "inferior edition". And to think, the ps4 version only runs at 30fps. What a fucking joke! I highly suggest people get the true definitive version on PC, not to mention you can easily get it for about $5-$10 as it goes on sale very very often.

Also after watching the video I think it looks better at 42 than 46...not that there is barely any difference at all

my PC came with 3 free games, one of them is tomb raider, i saved $10 and got a much better game

Even a $600 PC is cheaper than the PS4 in the long run. Games are way cheaper on PC and theres more of them.

@leandrro: if poly counts and textures were a factor than the PS3 and 360 Lara would be emotionless slates. Since that's not the case, than those probably aren't factors, which leads me to think its just your opinion.

Easily. The most demanding aspect is TrissFX and AA. The console version is probably just using FXAA. And TrissFX will run fine on AMD cards.

With TrissFX off, you ran easily run super sampling on a $400 pc with a steady 30fps.

Super sampling, would of course, cripple a console.

I respect your opinion my long time friend. However, it is fairly easy for a mid end card to beat consoles. Even if it doesn't match it, the difference will be so tiny, it will border on irrelevant.

The main argument here, should probably be the price. The pc version is currently, roughly, half the price. Aside from a slightly different face, this is opportunistic fucks, taking the piss.

I'm not arguing if he can beat consoles. I'm simply saying that it is improbably he is maxing out the game at 1080p with a consistent 60 fps

i didnt remember my fps very well

just did a in game benchmark and it runs 44fps avg, all maxed out + fxaa, (uses 40% of my cpu + 99% gpu)

with 4x ssaa it drops to 20fps, its the kind of thing that destroys the performance without giving barely no visual improvement

still its totally unexplainable why PS4 is getting a much downgraded version that also runs at only 30fps

Her original face at least was fairly natural and cute somewhat, this one looks like she got a facelift and botox, fugly as hell lol.

I'll stick to my superior pc version. But if they use this face for the next tomb raider, think many are gonna be p*ssed :P

@leandrro: although I'm pretty sure you know this, your logic makes no sense since the game exists already on last gen consoles. But if this is your shtick than have at it...

that's because SSAA stands for super sampling anti-aliasing, which is why it causes such a performance hit

Think he's worried SE will use this version of Lara for future titles.

@DefconRave: if I pretend like that his only agenda, I still don't see an issue with the new face as it matches the CG Lara more than than her other face. Also I find her face isn't over animated with this new version.

the CG is b4 the action, the scars dirt require decent textures, so washed out textures + clean face = closer to CG

The funny thing is that the new definitive version looks much closer to the original Lara they showed in the concept art and cover art for the game.

@leandrro: I'm clearly talking about the structure and shape of her face. Also last gen systems could handle the dirt and scars, so I'm not sure why you keep trying to bring up texture quality.

Apparently they improved the motion capture and the model is closer to what the actor looks like, apparently.

It is 30fps and it doesn't look better than the pc version. Please can any fanboy here explain and justify the 60 dollars for this so called definitive version.
