are we talking original drake:
or old man drake:
Original Drake is best Drake.
the evolution of tomb raider was to become more like uncharted. Just wait till uncharted 4 comes out so they have more ideas to copy for the next game since they are no leaders, they are followers. And beside, this game is cross gen anyway, so expect some shitty assets and outdated level design.
I actually talking about this 2 yesterday it was a QTE fest and last i remember lemmings hated movies..hahaha
Ha ha cows still upset about the whole Tomb Raider thing I see. Neither demo was all that impressive.
Why we be upset by a game that will hit the PS4 and probably in superior form.? Uncharted is never coming to xbox so we get both.
I thought Rise of the TR and UC4's demos shown on MS and Sony's Press Conferences were underwhelming.
My thoughts exactly, set pieces and over the top actions galore. Are we here to play our games or watch it?
I'm sure they both will be good games but this isn't 2009 where these demos would be impressive. This is 2015 and these demos are becoming a yearly cliche.
I read interviews about them borrowing elements from the last of us too. It's like they want to be naughty dog. They wait for them to do something then they copy it. Even naughty dog reminded me of tomb raider when drake used a sharp piece from a rock or something to climb areas in UC4 demo last E3 and they had holes on them to tell you where to climb. Either that was them looking at tomb raider where Lara climbed with the axe or GOW games when Kratos climbs. Doesn't matter in the end because naughty dog destroys them in pacing, storytelling, voice acting and pretty much anything you can think of.
I'll give tomb raider credit for the bow and good shooting mechanics and fun gameplay they have. Though I still prefer the uncharted series as a whole because the setting, characters are so likeable and despite scripted events I still enjoy them and UC2 remains one of the top TPS games of all time for its incredible pacing and I look forward to the collection.
Uncharted remains king and crystal dynamics still can't beat UC2 and last of us.
I thought the demo looked pretty good. It proved that when it comes to looks, it can run with UC4, which is its main competition.
However, I don't think these two games are all that comparable anymore. It appears as though the TR series will stick to exploration and adventure, with some light gunplay mixed in.
UC on the other hand, seems to have gone completely away from exploration and adventure. It seems as though it wants to be all action and cover shooting all the time. There's nothing wrong with that of course, as it's a PS4 exclusive. XB1 owners have Gears for that type of game to play.
I see more and more similarities between UC and GOW, than I do with TR.
Ha ha cows still upset about the whole Tomb Raider thing I see. Neither demo was all that impressive.
If anything lems are the ones butthurt over anything. Cows will be getting Uncharted 4 and TR. Lems get inferior version of TR.

Think you might have it confused. Tapping a button to lock on to a mountain side after jumping is not a QTE fest. See Heavy Rain, and Beyond Two Souls if you need to see what a QTE fest is.
Cow butt hurt is not about Tomb Raider itself, It was that SE and CD were putting it on on the Xbox first. I guess you don't remember the cow meltdown a few months ago when it was announced that TR would be an Xbox exclusive? How could a series that started on the PS (even though it was also on the PC and Saturn...lol) possibly not be on the PS first? After the internet pretty much melted from cow tears it was announced that it was a timed exclusive.

The uc4 demo was worlds more impressive than what was shown of womb raider. You can't even compare the two honestly, it was just on another level.
Shit last e3's ND presentation was still way more impressive than what we saw of tomb raider.
Another level? Oh yeah if you though last years E3 presentation of Drake laying in the water was more impressive, well then it makes sense.

Yeah one day they may be getting TR, but that's what Cows are upset about. That it didn't launch on the PS4 first. It is after all a PS legacy series. How could SE / CD possibly put it on the Xbone first...lol.
Completelly agree with you TC, that demo was painful to watch, it almost killed all my hype for the game, i mean sure it was rather nice for a movie but not for a damn video game, but it seems that's nothing more than the intro and its fine as long as the rest of the game is more about exploration and adventure.
I think Microsoft predicted Sony would show off UC4 at their press conference so they decided to put the most boring spectacle-y portion of Tomb Raider on their show. Problem is, the Tomb Raider showing was extremely linear and generic whereas the Uncharted demo showed off some pretty expansive gameplay.
I remember the first demos and trailers of the Tomb Raider reboot were very similar. People called those out for being nothing but QTE's and scripted events (albeit, much more interesting than the ones we saw here), and the developers stressed again and again at the time that the game would be a lot more than that.
And they were right. Tomb Raider turned out to be a whole lot more than QTE's. I'm willing to trust the developers this time. They delivered with the last game. But, yeah, I don't understand why they'd show something so samey and boring in the demo when they supposedly have so much more.
Agreed. Tomb Raider has a lot of potential and it'll be a great game but they showed the worst possible demo. It screamed "Hey look Uncharted like game". Teaser at the end of the demo looked way more interesting. They should not have targeted David Cage fans with the demo, instead they should've shown actual gameplay, hunting, survival elements, puzzle solving, actual platforming and NOT press A to win gameplay.
Yeah, way too much scripting. I don't mind scripted events but they need a good balance with gameplay. Like feel like you're still in control, most of the time.
@freedomfreak: my house mates and i thought the same thing as we were watching it. It feels that just chose what to demo quite poorly, i still have faith that the game itself will be great.
I'm not sure on the new facial model of Lara though, she somehow looks a bit younger than she did do, or maybe slightly more Eastern, i can't quite put my finger on it but it doesn't seem quite right.
For those who don't know much about me, I love Tomb Raider. It's my favorite franchise of all time. I even play the dumb spin-offs like Lara Croft's: Temple Run, and I'm genuinely excited for Tomb Raider Go.
Now, Tomb Raider. For now, it's a Microsoft thing. I don't like it, but that's just shitty business. I'm not here to discuss how wrong this is towards the fans or whatever. Get over it. What I'm here to talk about is them showing it off, and it being completely fucking awful.
They literally showed the worst parts of Uncharted. Cinematic walking and QTEs. Be sure to press "X" here, bruh! **** off. Uncharted 4's presentation was exciting. Shooting, vehicle sections, shooting stuff, platforming mid-level. It's already a better Tomb Raider game than Rise of the Tomb Raider. Now, I know, I shouldn't judge it like that. The last part of the gameplay section shows Lara doing Tomb Raider-y stuff.
As far as I've seen, the interviews have really focused on this Tomb Raider being more exploration focused. Hell, I just read one now. I'm just sad they didn't show any of that during their showing. I know that showing off a game, you need to excite people, and having Lara pushing some blocks around... That's not gonna work, unless you're as fanboy-grounded as me. But this seemed like something big for Microsoft rather than a money thing to compete with Uncharted.
For now, they have promises. And I hope those promises come true. I'm still excited, but I feel so letdown by their performance. Hell, in general it wasn't great.
What about other Tomb Raider fans? I honestly expected more. Not just during their conference, but after show stuff.
this is true, people got unnecessarily hyped for horizon and the tomb raider because of the graphics. both haven't shown any kind of proper gameplay. (cutscenes) uncharted showed full 7 minutes of gameplay and that's the game i'll be hyped for, thank you.
I just watched some TB gameplay and my question is, where exactly are the QTE's? It was boring alright but it's mostly traditional gameplay.

Well, there was one in that bear fight, but regardless of that, that footage looked great. It's definitely more of what I wanted to see. My OP is about its initial showing during Microsoft's conference.
Tomb Raider use to be a fun comic book style globe trotting adventure with neat puzzles and platforming.
Now it's torture porn "oh golly this situation is harsh" pishy poo.
Keep your fucking exclusive, no one cares.
Well said, brother.
I personally liked the Rise of the Tomb Raider demo better than the Uncharted 4 demo. They both could have been better, but I know there's a lot more to both games.
ROTR shows an over the top action sequence, Sony fanboys get upset and call it garbage
Uncharted 4 shows an over the top action sequence Sony fanboys thinks it the greatest gaming moment they've ever seen
Sony fanboys are the most dishonest, hypocritical group of fanboys around. Every game or feature on another platform is always shit, but when it's on a Sony console suddenly it's the greatest thing ever.
That Uncharted 4 demo was decent, but after the previous mediocre Uncharted 4 gameplay demo I really thought Naughty Dog would bring something more impressive and exciting to the table. The first part (shootout in the marketplace) felt like Uncharted 3.5, both graphically and gameplay-wise, aside from improved destruction. Then they run through the buildings and across rooftops just like we've done many times before in the previous games. Then a fairly heavily scripted setpiece drive down through the town with a handful of obvious alternate turn spots, and a final quick time grapple.
I mean, it's not bad and I know in the balance of the full game it's going to be fun. But the same can be said of the Tomb Raider demo. Escaping that avalanche is a massive setpiece and I think in the context of the game it's going to be great.
I completely enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013 and I'm liking the changes/improvements I'm reading about Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm still annoyed Microsoft tied it up as a timed exclusive, but whenever it does make it to PC I definitely plan to get it.
Crystal Dynamics are LITERALLY trying to recreate everything from Uncharted 2, a game which xbox fans vocally ripped apart for it's set pieces and linear quick-time gameplay and scripted events.
LMAO and now in 2015 lemmings are lapping it's shameless doppelganger up like a cat on warm milk and have nothing but praise...hahah
Welcome to 6 years ago lemmings. We are waiting for you here in 2015.

If that is true then they should have shown the reverse. I'm not saying it is....and I'd bet the demo was chosen by devs but showing the worst part of game seems to be a stupid strategy. So I can't agree with your assessment.
Tomb Raider 2014 blew me away. Taking the first game into consideration the footage they showed for Rise of the Tomb Raider impressed me. I'm ten times more excited for that game than I am for more Uncharted. A series that lost me at Drake's Deception.
While what they showed was basically a cutscene, all devs do this, there was a real lack of gameplay footage at E3. Uncharted 4 demo had a cinematic car chase, which isn't that representative of the whole game. I guess showing someone climbing a wall or solving a puzzle isn't that interesting.

Really? That demo reeked of deus ex machina.
