For what it's worth, Tommy Vercetti was born in 1951 and GTAV looks to take place in presant day. Therefore he is 60. So no.

notice how that one female npc with the sunglasses turns to look at him? lolElann2008
exactly why I think hes the main protaganist because why would would rockstar make her turn and look at some 'nobody'? Plus thats the same guy in the real close up shot.
Plus he says he wants to RETIRE so hes definetly an older dude.
That hardtop convertible was a dead give away. Yeah, not to mention Rockstar's gonna want to make fun of social networking and 2012.[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]

Could be some random NPC interaction.[QUOTE="Bikouchu35"] From Trailer and Real Life comparison of the possible building. I smell present day or close to it. freedomfreakI'm pretty sure it's present day.Just look at the vehicles. I'm convinced the building being constructed is called the Mile High Club in the game which is The Century building in our world completed 2009. So not quite game release 2012.

Could be some random NPC interaction.Na. You realize the SAME GUY is driving all the cars, and is the guy in the pest control uniform with an assault rifle. Why would they show some 'random nobody' in most of the shots? If I was betting on it, he IS the main protaganist.

Yeah, but I was just referring to the girl looking back.I'm pretty sure Frank West is the protoganist in this game.the jetski design, the car design, the windfarm, the clothes, the foreclosure sign on the house, the state of the art fighter jet, the motorcycle design the modern passenger jet. Wiki says wind farms have been in California since the early 1980's.[QUOTE="fusionhunter"]
Who says the game is 2011?

Also another point. What the narrator is saying doesn't match the personality of Tommy. Also, the manner at which he speaks doesn't match up either. Put that along side a different voice actor and this just can't be Tommy Vercetti. I state myreputation on it.

do u guys think that the other 2 people in the pest control outfits could be cj and claude???(idk about claude looks more like the guy from lost and the damned)I'm convinced the building being constructed is called the Mile High Club in the game which is The Century building in our world completed 2009. Could be possible, but is a game after all Rockstar can write it off as present since the real life timeline is not far off. I seriously think this building is the real life Ritz Carlton Hotel @ LA live b.c you see the cutaway part of the shorter building and the fact that you see in-game/trailer Los Santos being presenting at the downtown view where as real life Century City is non existant. Both buildings compeleted the same year irl interestingly enough.
I think the I know the real city enough to know what Im seeing :P
GUYS!!!!!
What the hell are people talking about?? I mean I'm all for ruling out possibilities but why are so many people giving "obviously it wont be Tommy because he's 60" chat all over the place???
Real life movies.. real life actors, who have we got. Bruce Willis.. he's nearly 57 and there's a new Die Hard coming out. Now, joking aside, is it not feasable that a "badass" guy in GTA could also be around that age?? Again.. the retirement comment our voiceover makes. It fits.
Also, Michael Keaton.. does he look 60? Because he is y'know.. and he's still got the chops to be a leading hard nut in a movie/game.
So before we all start getting stupid, lets just rule out things based on common sense!!!! So many online debates get lost in a haze of ignorance.
Also, as has been said many times now.. why would they show that man so often in the trailer if he's not the protagonist? It's quite obvious that it's been left fairly vague, but that's what Rockstar does!! C'mon!
Also, the voice? Yeah.. it's very very close to Ray Liotta.. and remember, Ray Liotta badmouthed GTA pretty wildly after he starred in Vice City (maybe a law suit? I'm not sure on those facts)... so this could just be sound-alike.
Makes more sense than some of the other wild theories.
It's either Tommy Vercetti, or its a new character. One of the 2! Wow, see how easy that was.

Yeah. Now I'm convinced The Mile High Club is the LA Live building. I just wasn't seeing it in the construction, but the advertisement in game is more similar to the real thing. Is this it irl?
Thats actually the BoA building.. I think but thats an older building. If you look far left in this pict thats the one Im talking about which is freshly completed. Yeah Im kinda nerdy about my building stuff for my city so I know these stuff. I think rockstar butchered the location a bit game vs real life to avoid lawsuit for resembling to closely to the real city since is a blockbuster game with violence afterall.
[QUOTE="freedomfreak"]There's a lot of hinting that Tommy is the main character.supa_badmanLike what? I'm not gonna link everything.I just see a lot of sites that think it's Tommy. Phrased that wrong.

NO.
The protaganist is going to be a hispanic named "Adrian"
don't ask me how i know this, i just do.
That and a few other key details about the game that i will not reveal to avoid spoilers.
but trust me, tommy isnt the protaganist. The guy you saw in the red car and the one running from the cops is main protaganist.
and really, JUST because the voice of Tommy is the narrator for the trailer, it doesn't quite mean he's the protagnist.
He'll play a role, more of a guy on the side kind of character.
have you guys never seen movies where the narrator is NOT the main protaganist? :?
I think that's just a random pedestrian. I think it would be better to look at the guy driving the car
but how do i know i can trust u?? far cry reference for the win!and really, JUST because the voice of Tommy is the narrator for the trailer, it doesn't quite mean he's the protagnist.

[QUOTE="Merex760"]That would be amazing if Tommy is the main character in this. I hope so.lordlorsAgreed. Vice City was my most favorite GTA. I hated San Andreas. IV was fine though. Impossible! SA was the best, I LOVED the 90s vibe and I really was hoping for another game set in a time frame that wasnt modern times I loved the hood, the gangs, but most of all, SA itself was beautiful and varied. Nothing better than flying a plane through the Casino strip, through the lonely desert, the rich and beautiful forest, the suburbs, etc. SA was topnotch

Alot of people probably enjoyed Vice City for it's distilation of time. San Andreas had that aswell, but it wasn't so long ago, the world hadn't evolved THAT much from then
Doesn't the narrator also state the weather as being one of the reasons for moving to Los Santos/San Andreas? Isn't Vice City effectively Miama though? :PAlso another point. (I'm basing this entirely on memory. I haven't rewatched the trailer to clarify.)
Well my take (probably wrong) was that it was Tommy voicing the trailer.
I don't think you play as him, my reasoning for this is that he is talking about how he moved his family to Los Santos for a better life and to be like a sitcom family he talks about doing regular stuff with your kids and then it cuts to the bank robbery. So what I gathered from the trailer was that you play as Tommy's son, who if he had him just after GTA:VC would be well in his twenties.
Because isn't it kinda obvious in this case that it is the protaganist?and really, JUST because the voice of Tommy is the narrator for the trailer, it doesn't quite mean he's the protagnist.

Yea I was thinking you play different characters doing missions for him.I would like if it was Tommy Vercceti but I think Rockstar is going to make him a character you do missions for instead.

Yea but the guy jogging sort of looks like the guy driving the blue car too.I think that's just a random pedestrian. I think it would be better to look at the guy driving the car

It woould be cool to have him and CJ etc. but that's not Ray Liotta's voice so no its not him and there is no TV without Ray
I hope not. That would be such a disappointment. I thought if we went back to SA we would have a gang banger again. I guess I'd be okay with multiple protagonists if the story is good though.
They could of got someone else to fit the role.It woould be cool to have him and CJ etc. but that's not Ray Liotta's voice so no its not him and there is no TV without Ray

Then that would suck the most.
Everyone knows Ray Liotta is the ONLY guy to do Tommy. It just isn't tommy without him. And that would piss off just about every major GTA fan. Especially the guys who love Vice City the most. It would be a very stupid move on R*'s behalf
