Tools of Destruction or SMG for platformer of the year?

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, or Super Mario Galaxy for best platformer of the year?

I haven't really been blown away by anything SMG has shown. Looks fun, but that is where it starts and stops for me.

Recently I got to play the Tools of Destruction demo...and it was pretty incredible. My vote goes for Ratchet, what about you guys?

Super Mario Galaxy just for it's premise and intuitive controls.

Ratchet the graphics are very colorful and polished and gameplay in the demo are ridiclously(sp) fun

after playing rachet demo, its a sham we wont see a mario game in hd

They're AMAZING!

If SMG takes after Sunshine at all, then Ratchet by far. Otherwise it's closely contested.Sir_BIGnuts

Beside the obvious points like both games has Mario and etc....

heres the thing...ratchet and clank is a cartoony third person shooter more than it is a platformer.

In terms of pure platforming mario galaxy by far.

What's with all of the sudden Ratchet hype? Just because of that fake 1UP review? Do people not realize that 1UP hands out tens like candy lately, let alone AAA scores? Super Mario Galaxy> Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction.REVOLUTIONfreak

I'll choose SMG for now, but I think it'll be close.

This is kinda funny.

Ratchet and Clank - 4 games in a 7 year period (more than all 3D mario's)

I actnally enjoyed Mario Sunshine more than any R&C game because of the gameplay. But the script writing and action in R&C is quite good in its own way!

That's because SMS sucked for a Mario game.

Tough to say. I'm a huge R&C fan and the demo was excellent, but it's also just more of the same. Super Mario Galaxy on the other hand seems to be the sequel to SM 64 that I've been waiting for for over a decade and is also a little different for a Mario game. Right now I have to say I'm more looking forward to SMG since at one time the SM games were my favorite in the platform genre. However, I can't completely count R&C Future out because the demo is great and currently that series rules the genre. We'll see. I think it'll be better to bring this subject back up after both games hit shelves.

The real question is...

SMG or Banjo Threeie for the best platformer of all time? :o
