I should note the game looks great even on low settings due to the great artstyle. :) The main performance killer is the SSAO settings, so change the samples to 4, and the SSAO resolution to medium / low. The difference isn't that noticeable.

I really like horror games and the only one I couldn't complete out of fear was Siren: Blood Curse for ps3. Such an underrated game.

That being said, that amnesia: Dark Descent looks absolutely terrifying.

Fear 1 was far more creepier then the second. But the Ringu inspired Alma character was pretty cliched imo. Great, creepy games though.

Eternal Darkness. The bathroom scene scared the living crap out of me and the sanity effects were awesome.

Depends on ur meaning of "top". I watched 100+ Horror games in my lifetime(from classics to great "B" horror movies):

- Best "Horror" game is easily Silent Hill 2 IMO. The story, music, atmosphere, gameplay(I actually like the camera), the boss(Pyramid Heads/Maria),...etc make it the best horror game to ever come out.

- Most horrifying game is between Siren, Fatal Frame II and Amensia(didn't find this one that scary here...maybe it's just me).

NH2 is a very well mod despite alot of the scares being cheap/lame. Another horror mod worth mentioning is Afraid of Monsters. Anyone who has Half Life needs to play the Dircetor Cut. That mod was just scary, mostly because you were in the dark most of the time with a flashlight that needs batteries.

Ok, I'm possibly the most morbid person you'll ever meet. I've played the Silent Hills, Fatal Frames, Call of Cthulhu, Clive Barkers Undying, hell, I'm a member of a gore site (don't judge me D: ), and nothing even comes close to Amnesia. No game has left me paralyzed with fear due to the pure grotesque horror the game portrays perfectly. Wandering around a dank castle dungeon before you lamp unexpectedly runs out of oil, leaving you in the pitch black darkness is enough to make even the most hardest grown man sweat. The only correct answer when the question "What's the scariest game ever made?" is asked is Amensia: Dark Descent. Don't believe me? Buy it, play it, and I promise you you will agree. :P

Amnesia makes you think what will happen. Like footsteps , the wind , lights blowing out , growling etc.

And because you are unarmed the one thing you do when you see a enemy in Amnesia is run run and run. Dead Space? You kick it's ass.

Theres tons of greats REmake,SH 1-3,Siren for ps3,eternal darkness and tons more. I would like to try amenisia,but unless it comes to the console download scene I never will.

You can run it quite well but I don´t think you can max it. Try the demo and see how it runs on your system.

Watching a video over youtube =/= experiencing the game first hand. The way the game manipulates you alone is creepy. It's raw, fundemental horror. There's been times where I've taken my hands of the mouse and keyboard, sat back and grimaced while the monster shuffled towards me before clawing me to death. Here's a few vids I made that demonstrates the manipulation. :P

The demo is nothing compared to the full release. :P The part after the flooded cellar is probably the most panic inducing peice of gaming I've ever experienced.

Haven't played Nightmare Creatures yet so I can't really comment on that, but as for the ones that I did managed to play I would have to say Silent Hill 2 thus far.

And while NC was a decent game, it definitely isn't the best horror game ever made. It's completely subjective anyway, but the RE games used to give me many more scares.
