Sounds like the majority were just ripped off the top-rated list. Halo 3 is overrated though. As one who has played far more innovative PC shooters, Halo 3 is only good as a console shooter. I downloaded the PC demo of Halo: Combat Evolved, and I couldn't even finish the level before closing the game to play something better. I also found Tony Hawk's Project 8 disappointing. Same old formula for the eighth time, this time with some wonky physics system that seems to be intentional. I had to go back to playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 because it wasn't nearly as fun.

Halo: CE is anything but overrated IMO! So many people believe it's the best game ever, it can very well be for them! but there is always halobashing around here, but if someone says that he thinks MGS4 is overrated, then he never played the game or his opinion doesn't count? common, MGS4 isn't for everyone, just like halo isn't!

It can very well be for them, though I don't care for it. I never said it was terrible or anything, though it isn't nearly as great once you put it alongside other great PC shooters. It's just my opinion, and my opinion is that Halo isn't that great of a game. (Albeit I will admit it kept the Xbox afloat.) If you love it, I'm fine with that, that's your opinion, though mine is not the same as yours then.

1. GTA4 (I just don't get this games scores at all. It is just a better looking version of the previous games)
2. MGS4 (If you have to skip through the game (i.e. the 30min + cinemas) in order to enjoy it then it doesn't deserve 10s)
3. Bioshock (no replay what so ever)

These are my top 3. I'm not saying they suck or that they aren't good games, but their scores are way overblown. I really don't believe in reviews anyway. Haven't we learned anything from Jeff's firing?

Mass Effect

Alone in the dark

1. Halo 3 - Bought due to the hype, sold due to actually playing it.

2. Bioshock - Zero developer promises forfilled, felt like Molyneux was the lead on it.

3. Gears Of War - Good innovative cover system, 5 hour campaign.

4. Rachet & Clank - Finally bought it, due to being told how godly it is...played it...and felt how godly it is not.

5. GTA IV - A good solid game, not prime, and there are certainly ways to meaningfully improve it.

6. GT5: P - Less content than a breakfast sized cereal sampler.

7. Oblivion - Big wide open world...that turns out to be a land of repitition, 3-4 voice actors used for thousands of people, people changes voices in mid-convo, same textures on all dungeons, repititve enemies, generic main quest, there are more problems...

8. The Witcher - Tedious gameplay, uninteresting story.

9. Red Steel - Hyped to be the next big evolutionary game in the chain, was released as an extremely average game with a multitude of problems.

Can't think of any others right now.

Ratings are just opinions, not facts. That's why there are some many people that find high rated games overrated, and low rated games underrated.Nitrouz

I only listed games that I have played before. I liked Team Fortress an awful lot, but it's not nearly as good as people say it is. I played it for six hours and then got tired of it, and the extra content doesn't really interest me. I have the PC version, by the way. For me, The Orange Box games go like this:

Half-Life 2>Half-Life 2: Episode Two>Portal>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Team Fortress 2>>>Half-Life 2: Episode One

the TC's list doesn't include Gears. I haven't played it, so I wouldn't know if I think it's overrated or not, but seeing that he just included high scoring games in general, I'm kind of surprised. he's not even being a good, exciting, half-legit troll, either.

he could probably be a PC fanboy since there's no PC exclusives on there. or maybe he's an Atari fanboy. I don't know.

MGS4 is not overrated, at all. That game was one of the few games worthy of a 10.NAPK1NS

I disagree. I think the game got a little bit of a hype courtesy in it's scores. If Gamespot had .1 grading it would have been 9.7 or 9.8. The game is uneven. First half they trick you into thinking the game is open world and mostly gameplay. Then the last three Acts are cutscenes. Control is still quite clumsy. Minor gameplay upgrades. First two Acts were amazing, Act 3 blew, Act 4 was good for nostalgia's sake, and Act 5 was rushed. The game is very uneven. I love MGS, but I was unfulfilled by the thrown together story. I left this game disappointed. After playing it through two times, I know for sure that the game was a high 9 not 10. The online is a complete joke.

1. Oblivion. Jesus that game was shallow. Dark Messiah got a what? 8.0? It was infinitely better than Oblivion.

2. SMG. No.

3. LOZ:TP. No.

4. Crysis. Looks nice. That's it. The game makes Far Cry look like a modern marvel, even though it came after far cry.

5. MGSIV. Terrible controls. Terrible animations. Fun, but ultimately repetitive gameplay.

6. Warhawk. Are you kidding me? This game SUCKS.

7. GeoW. Online sucks hard compared to GRAW & RB6V.

8. GTAIV. Meh.

9. Company of Heroes. Seriously underwhelming RTS. Starcraft is the standard that everyone fails on.

10. GT5p. This game sucks.

1. BioShock - Words cannot describe how grossly overrated this game is.
2. The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion - An example of how to run a series into the ground, and be praised for it.
3. Gears of War - Hiding behind a wall, grunting your ever so manly grunts? Not very interesting.
4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Hiding behind a wall, spilling out your cliched movie lines? Not very interesting.
5. Grand Theft Auto IV - The opening and ending is awesome, but apart from a few missions the central 10-15 hours are rather boring.
6. World in Conflict - Just me, but it was terribly shallow for a RTS.
7. Call of Duty 4 - Rather shallow multiplayer and a short singleplayer does not make such a great game as the world puts it out to be.
8. No More Heroes - Can you get a more 'meh' game? Seriously, damn tedious.
9. Lost Odyssey - I normally can finish JRPGs no matter what, but damn the story was as interesting as a fly.
10. Halo 3 - A few too many accolades for this game, it's good but not deserving of what it got.
