Well, they remind me of spiders which creeps me out and any enemy that jumps at your face like that scares me.Having a epic chase with him is scary , tense and funny all at the same time. :DNot so much the big daddy's appearance, but that creepy growl combined with the fact you're not sure where he is, was kind of scary.

You know, it's almost like Retro Studios wanted to turn Metroid into a horror game.
I hated how Metroids could fly from behind and latch on to your face.
The worst part about Phendrana Drifts and Phazon Mines was the Shadow Pirates. They could only be detected by the thermal visor, which meant you always saw them as a really bright yellow spot on the screen in a mass of dark purple. Plus they hung from the celing, which is pretty creepy.
Chozo Ghosts were...well, ghosts. They had a haunting shriek, and they could seemingly pop out of nowhere.
A Bugs Life for N64 had some pretty freaky bosses.
Thumper was the boss of the first three levelsof the game. Easily the scariest screaming I have ever heard in a video game.
Hopper was not as scary, but when I first saw him, I thought the white berries he was throwing were eyes.
The scariest monsters from my experience were the Chozo Ghosts in Metroid Prime. I used to be terrified to go in any area where I knew they would be.

Where are the zombies?
Or hell, I can't remember when this guy didn't scare the hell out of my multiple times. First time you see him he just crawls across a window all casual like while your double taking wether you seen something or your just creeped out, then in the next hallway all you can hear is him walking across the celing -_- gave me nightmares when I was younger.
Prison monster in Silent Hill 2 is scarier than all these suckers. I would post pics but you never see him. Vandalvideo
Ahh yes. That is the perfect example of how great sound design can bring on such fear. I remember trying to find that creepy ******* but you can't actually see him. He just mumbles on and on and on....
Really, all the monsters in that game are absolutely frightening and the encounters are made more intense by the simple way you hear that radio static whenever one is near. That noise always givs me chills....
Anyways, some other ones worth mentioning are:
Definitely the creatures in Dead Space, ESPECIALLY that freaky ass regenerator that was already mentioned. That was one of my favorite touches in the game, having an invincible enemy chase me around whom I repeatedly had to de-limb to run from.
While the ghosts in Fatal Frame were already mentioned, I have to give a specific shout-out to the broken-neck women for my experiences I had with her. I was in the house and hadn't seen anything and for whatever God-awful reason I randomly decided to pull my camera out and she was RIGHT THERE IN MY ******* FACE!!! If I were to ever **** myself from fright it would have been right there. Best part is I ended up having friends over watching me play the game later on and I got to that area and told them about her but couldn't find her. I went and did the exact thing I did and I said "see I just went down these stairs like this and then pulled out my camera like this..." and of course right as I said and did that she was RIGHT THERE AGAIN!!! It made everyone of us jump.
Also, Lickers in RE2 were pretty damn terrifying. The crimson heads in REmake also deserve a mention.
I also feel the need to mention the Thanatos from Outbreak as he gave me another great gaming moment. At one point in the level at the college you have to run from him and lure him to a spot to incapacitate him. Well we were running and had somehow lost him. I was sitting there wondering were he went when all of a sudden he came CRASHING THROUGH THE WALL NEXT TO ME! I flipped and ran like such a wussy.
if you found Sephiroth scary, well idk... its sadDiviniuzyea...I mean....he isn't frightening at all to me :(
If this thread was made three years ago here in system wars, it would be full of posts mentioning this guy right here lol.

Eh, I always thought the regenerators fear factor was way overblown. They honestly didn't scare me, granted that game wasn't scary in general. I definitely think the Iron Maidens, Chainsaw sisters, and Salazaar's right hand man were scarier.
[QUOTE="Diviniuz"]if you found Sephiroth scary, well idk... its sadbobbleheadrogueyea...I mean....he isn't frightening at all to me :( He was pretty creepy IMO... slasher monsters and zombies don't have that. Stuff that tries too hard to be scary fails, but sephiroth genuinely gave me the shivers.
When I played OoT I was afraid of the Re-deads when I was younger.
I also think Poison Head-Crabs are scary I hear their Hiss and I jump because I know they are going to lunge towards my head.
lol I was thinking of OoT, but more of the skeletons that pop out when you're running through the field at night. Those things always scared the crap out of me whenever they popped out. That surreal final boss in Earthbound. And OOT's mini-boss that was surrounded by hands coming from the ground.

Oh man, I remember the first Fatal Frame, scared the brown stuff out of me, pity I never finished the first one, I know the part that really stuck with me the most was I think crawling under the house and all of a sudden I get a rumble so I bring up the camera to BOO! right in my face, I think I threw the controller or dropped it.

That is the iron maidenI can't believe necromorphs were missing from the list. ^ They are pretty scary because they popout and you can hear them coming but you don't know from where.
if you found Sephiroth scary, well idk... its sadDiviniuzScary no, evil yes. I find that whole list to me a joke. Only a few on that list are even scary at all.
