I'm a PC gamer, but not for any of those games. I don't really care for strategy games, MMOs, and low budget indie games. I'd rather spend my limited gaming time on games with high quality gameplay AND narrative and graphics and atmosphere. This kind of experience is mostly found in console exclusives and big budget multiplatform games.
Strategy games provide a lot of fun and are very addictive. For example, if you start up a Civilization scenario to play for an hour, you will usually end up playing until 4 a.m., because you want to play just another turn.
I didn´t see any console game have the similar effect.
Besides, the appeal of commanding your own army/empire/country/ faction is so unique and gratifying. No AAA console exclusive can match it.
People who say that strategy games are not for them, usually just never played any before
