Yes, but couldn't you have shrunk those images down first?

Breakdown. An absolutely underrated game for the original Xbox. ENTIRE game was played from the first person perspective, with the addition of hand-to-hand combat. Very fun. Intriguing story. Sure, it had it's flaws; plenty of them, but it was a very special game.
[QUOTE="lespaul1919"]gunplay has so much more to do with it that effects and recoil. it's about how fun it is to shoot and kill. In some games the excitment comes from the skill it takes to utterly destroy someone. the feeling of pulling off a sick kill is much more important than any recoil or effects will ever give.

well, that's a general misconception. yes, it takes more to kill than your standard shooter...but use the powerful accurate guns and aim for the head and you can destroy people.

destroying someone's strafe with a 3sk is THE MOST rewarding kill I've ever experienced in a shooter.
The amount of fail in this thread astounds me. All of you guys either sound like
A) You just started playing games this generation (Bad Company 2?! More like the answer to a dry spell of gunplay for the last few years)
B) Theoretical gamers who just go with the status quo.
Anyone who's actually aimed down a reticle and pressed the trigger absolutely knows this is the most satisfying experience ever. It may not be your favourite game, hell, you may not even like the game, but boy, when you land a head shot with this (or any other weapon in the arsenal), it's the closest thing to an orgasm.
(Asian artist's interpretation of how CS gunplay feels)
The other two correct answers are FEAR and Doom.
Either that, or we just disagree with you. ;) Can't blame you for your opinion though. That game's shooting does feel rather nice...The amount of fail in this thread astounds me. All of you guys either sound like

I WOULD agree with you, but CS 1.6 feels better than CS:S. For CS:S they changed silencer sounds to the worse, cut out ricochet sound for some reason and cut out some overall echo and loundness of gun sounds making them sound a bit flat. All of that may be a nitpicking, but we talk about personal preferences here, so...
GTAIV?
It has the best ragdoll physics in existence in video games. I just wish that the assault rifle packed a bit more punch and that there was no auto-aim.
Using a short shotgun to shoot a guy in the knee at the top of some stairs is amazing. If GTA had realistic damage, accurate ballistics and gore it would probably be even better than it already is.
GTA IV has amazing ragdoll, I agree. But have you seen what they did with it in Red Dead Redemption?GTAIV?

I can only compare guns from my real-world experience and that's the M16/M4, a Remington 12-gauge, some generic .22 rifle from Target(?), and my Pop's .45. Of those, I've fired the M16/M4 the most.
Strangely enough, the KPA FY71 in Crysis sounds just like an M16/M4 which is why I prefer it (over the SCAR). Music to my (tonedeaf) ears. So, yup. Crysis for me. Most guns in other games, I can't get a feel for. Even the M16 in Far Cry for the PC doesn't sound like a real M16 to me.
