Fable 2 - Excellent RPG, its only flaw is that there is not enough of it. ... that's about it, I can think of more games that have AAA and shouldn't have though.
I have to be perfectly honest and agree that I miss the old days when Gamespot wasn't so quick to give AAA to anything with a massive amount of hype and high production values. I really feel like Gamespot has been one part of the equation that caused the standards of a "good game" to be tremendously lowered over time. Anyone complaining about games not getting AAA would be outraged if games today were released six or seven years ago, when today's AAA game would have been AA at best or A in the most likely scenario. I liked it better when even being a high A was a bragging right; now people look at anything less than AAA as somehow mediocre.
Super Smash Bros. Melee... what was that critic thinking?
Mass Effect... I think that the game was technically broken in some areas and the gameplay could feel really clunky at times but it was still a really special game that should have squeezed off a AAA score, if ever so slightly.
Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2. There really isn't a lot to say. They are some of the best games of last generation and neither of them have AAA scores? For shame!
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I think that the gameplay in Snake Eater ranged from satisfying to clunky as hell but the game was AAA hands down. Especially if Greg gave MGS2 a 9.6.
Not left 4 dead, its enough overatted as it is!!!! Seriously it needs much more to be AAA!! I would say bionic commando was better than the score it managed to get, not AAA but still....
Deus Ex. But really Mass Effect shouldn't have gotten AAA. Cover system, squad command system and gunplay sucks.AAllxxjjnn
I agree with Deus ex and mass effect,. Anyway i can think of other games that really worthed AAA like uncharted or system shock 2!!!
Mass Effect. I think people who say the combat sucked went in expecting a third person shooter with a good story and people who enjoyed it went in expecting a Bio-Ware RPG with shooter elements. It fails at one and greatly succeeds at the other but to me it never sold itself as what it "failed" at so I never really got the complaints... but to each their own.

I thought the combat was great, but the PC version's biotic hotkeys made it so. Just made everything fast and fluid.
