What about games in the SNES or NES era. They are not on Gamerankings. How do you multiply those games?

Actually, SNES games are listed on Gamerankings. As for NES and Master System games, I made an update to the rules for 3rd generation games, that I'll re-post here.

IMPORTANT RULE UPDATE - 3rd Gen Games

There has been an issue brought up concerning games from the 1st generation after the crash as there's no accurate scoring source. Assigning a default 2 point value seemd like the most reasonable middle ground compromise going by difference of standards. But I now present a solution for evaluating the gems of that era from the ones not so memorable. And that last word was the key to it all, the really successful titles had gone on to have successful sequels, while the less memorable titles faded away. So the NEW RULE pertaining specifically to NES and Master System games;

A game that saw only a single iteration - 1 point
A game that had more than one title in the same generation - 2 points
A game that had sequels spanning outside it's original generation - 3 points

This should help balance things out better and give those much much older titles that shined in their day more of a fighting chance.

a piece of Advice: Dont use GR top 20 because they have numerous doubles of the same game on different platforms. Ex: there are multiple GTA4's and multiple Orange boxs in the top 20 on GR. That means theres actually only like 14 different gmes there. Instead, use "the first 20 different IPs" to get 4 points on your scale.

For each top 10 game, the number of votes => the multiplier => the final score. Oh and you could consider making two of your honorable mentions into official nomionations, since you have up to 10. I may up two of my honourable mentions if I can figure out which, but it really seems perfect as is. I'd like to request that Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver be counted as single games for obvious reasons. You have to draw the line somewhere between two similar games, and two versions of the same game, but I think these Pokemon Red/Blue can easily count as the later of the two. What are you going to do with The Orange Box? I say it's a collection, not a game. If you agree then you should probably notify people. Happy New Year, btw.

I see whta you mean. And the spirit of this contest is to evaluate the games, not so much the platform. Especially with the case of multiplatform titles, the game is the same game regardless of which system it's on. So I will look to see repeated games and, which last time I checked was 4 (GTA4, RE 4, Bioshock, and Orange Box) and adjust to check their top 24 at the final tally.

As for the whole Orange Box / Half Life 2 issue, I am kind of torn. I agree it is a compilation set, but technically it is a game that has been scored and is even on GR's Top 20 (also the Top 10). For some players it might have been their entry into Valve's universe. Of course people can only nominate a game once, So my ruling is;

You can nominate the Orange Box OR any of it's seperate games individually, BUT NOT BOTH.
