The ps4 cost 100 bucks less and you can still keep your ps3 and play all the upcoming 2014 games on both systems. You can use your psn plus account on both.

If retailers had an exorbitant amount of Xbox One's in stock, they would cut back on their orders to Microsoft; and Microsoft would then have to cut production to meet the new demand. That has not happened.

MS is harvesting cell processors for the 9th gen because they knew Sony was right about cell processing. it's the future, it's just Sony was too early and ahead of their time with the ps3.

Do I have concrete proof? No. But, in an age where everything gets leaked, particularly bad things about the Xbox One, do you really think someone on the 'Net would not leak that? For Christ's sake, even that you tube thing got leaked, and MS had pretty much nothing directly to do with it.

No retailer leaks about reduced XB1 orders, no leaks from subcontractors about reduced manufacturing, nothing...

Makes no sense whatsoever. I don't know where you can buy a ps3 for 100 bucks. I also have a bunch of games and what am I going to play them on. I could just keep my ps3 and buy a ps4. Like I said psn+ works across both platforms. Not to mention I get 3 or 4 games per month across both platforms. I also get discounts on games with psn+.

Lastly we all know the ps4 is stronger and has better multiplats. We know the playstation brand has more and better exclusives. I honestly can't think of any reason why this trade is a good idea. It would have to be at least 150 before I would even think about it. As it is retailers are already dropping the price on the x1 no need to take this deal.

All MS will do is sell the used ps3's for 150 or more making a profit.

@tormentos: actually they said "Over 3 million sold" and I saw an article linked here yesterday (cant find the thread now) that said that both MS and Sony's numbers were "Shipped to retailer" not "Sold to customer"

This is nothing new. Sony should do this as well, it will help push people to adopt the newer consoles. Gamestop already has done this numerous times..

Well, it happens all the time. Manufacturers slow and expand production based on demand. Just a few months ago, GM idled Chevy Volt production because dealers had too much stock, and Apple throttled back iPhone manufacturing because of soft demand.

Well, for GM, it was leaked by some union people. For Apple, it was rumored by someone who works at their manufacturing subcontractor in China, then made official when they released their holiday sales a few days ago (they missed sales estimations).

If it were true that there was a large number of XB1 inventory on dealers' shelves:

a) it would have been mentioned in their 10-K report

b) someone would have leaked something by now (retailers, manufacturers, insiders, etc).

Why would MS be desperate. Cows have been making baseless claims since the last e3, talking about 'it's teh over'. And at every corner, nothing happened. The truth is, MS are step by step climbing out of that PR disaster.

There's nothing desperate about this, it's a minor one off promotion in a MS store.

So we'll see if we see an official statement (HIGHYLY doubt MS would say that even if it was true) or sales. If I really wanted an X1, I'd just go get it without trading a console that's still thriving.

No one knows for sure what the US sales numbers will be until NPD numbers are released. But, my "prediction" is a retort to the broken record rant some cows are making by saying "Xbox Ones are not selling, and sitting on store shelves".

Exactly you don't because that is something that no manufacturer will tell any one,also MS will fiercely deny stuffing the channels and will fiercely decline to admit that they cutting order short because of over stocking,because that contribute to feed the perception that they can't sell as much as sony.

Once again,several stores are even putting campaign mounting a circus just to move those units they have,gamespot was one even putting tabled with units outside something you never see on gamestop and consoles are always keep in the storage room.

In fact one chain even sold units at $479 which is a joke,you find me a PS4 for $379 new,hell gamestop got some and is basically bundle them all in expensive bundles from $500 and up.

Sony's numbers were sold to costumers, not shipped to retailers in fact after mid December there were no PS4 to sell world wide the units were very scarce,and only could be bough on Ebay and places like that,sony only recently deliver more shipments.
