Wind Waker was a good game, but it could have been much better. Far too much of the game was spent sailing across a vast blue ocean of---nothing. Yes, you could say WW had a bigger world, if you count the fact that the actual land-size in totality was about a 1/4 the size of OoT's land. So yes, there is a huge world of bluish nothing to traverse, but as far as land you could walk--there just wasn't any.

TP's biggest problem is that Nintendo delayed it so they could transition it over to the Wii. If it had come out a year ealier, I guarantee you it would've been better. Towards the end of TP is when stuff started to bog, my thought is that Nintendo spent more time transitioning it to the Wii and then at the last few moments decided to add the last 2 dungeons to the game and not finish it off like they should have.

That said, pretty much every Zelda other than WW and TP would have gotten a perfect ten (including Alttp, for its time).

OoT redefined the games and the genre
TP just made some changes and made it modern

That's odd, I disagree with you  It's all a matter of opinion.

Sure we can both disagree with each other. And then we will post arguements for why the game we are arguing against sucks so bad (when those problems are minor). And then at the end someone will butt in and say OPINION. And then the cycle continues

I haven't played either of them yet. Maybe one of these days I'll take the time to do so. I've heard so much about OoT, it has me wonder if it will be able to live up to all the hype it's received.

I'm going with Ocarina.  Twilight Princess is based off of everything that Ocarina did, so it's not as amazing a game as Ocarina.

I saw it fit to give Ocarina a 10, whereas i think a 9.3 is very fitting for Twilight Princess.

Both are amazing games, but Ocarina is a revolution and Twilight Princess is still a great game, but I don't care what the little kids of GS who never played Ocarina say, it's without a doubt the better game, and one of the greatest of all time.

TP for gcn. yes, OoT was better for its time. but TP(gcn) took the formula that OoT made and perfected it. i specify the gcn version because it actually pushed the hardware it was on and had much tighter controls. the wii can certainly support better looking games than that and the wiimote was not implemented well at all.

Completely agree, TP tried to be a OoT perfected. Didn't work. Thankfully nintendo say they'll make a completely new zelda next time

I'd say people greatly overexaggerate its quality. But the whole nostalgia bit applies also.

I'm not surprised at the MM preference because I honestly think they're just kidding if they stay that. Also; I'm making a theory that says if you're young and didn't experience OOT at launch or during that era, then that means you wouldn't understand the impact that game made when it came out. Well, if you compare the two today Twilight Princess wins hands down.

If you compare the two when they first came out, nothing beats first playing a Zelda game in 3D.

here is my rankings of all zelda games I beat (didn't actually beat zelda II since it was very challenging lol):

1. a link to the past
2. twilight princess
3. wind waker
4. ocarina of time / majora's mask

I'm with the group of people who thought ocarina of time was over rated. However, I'd give all 4 of these at least a 9.0 rating but none a 10 because no game is perfect.  Oh yeah and original legend of zelda I'd give slightly under a 9.0... maybe a 8.8 or 8.9.  That would be my #5.   original legend of zelda was improved in all areas with its successors.

edit: forgot majora's mask

Twilight Princess was an insult to 3D Zelda games, (next to the CD-i games, and Zelda II) it was the worst Zelda game I've ever played. No, I'm not being a fanboy. I've beaten: - Minish Cap - Ocarina of Time - Majora's Mask - Wind Waker - Oracle of Ages - Oracle of Seasons - The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past - Zelda II

I do agree with you with the OOT reference. But where I wanted too get to, is to say that it has always been like this, whether you're a 2d Zelda fan and think its ludicrous to call the 3d ones where the series have reached its peak, or whether you consider MM far above OOT and considers OOT overrated because of that. Alot of people simply put into question, alot of peoples choices. Anyway ignore me, "Call this thread "research" for me." Will do.

See, this is one of those really annoying things about a lot of sheep. With the Wind Waker, Nintendo went for a different style of Zelda altogether, and peole complained and said they wanted one more like OoT. So Nintendo obliged and went and made TP, which is a lot like OoT. Now people are complaining that's it's too similar to OoT and they should have made a different style to it. Make up your god damn minds.

Twilight Princess on the Wii.

It's just better in every respect compared to Zelda: OoT.....and the Wiimote, IMO, adds so much to the experience. I don't know if I could enjoy a 3D Zelda without the Wiimote now.

And yes, I played through OoT twice. Once on the N64 and once on the GCN.

I'm currently 51hrs into Zelda: TP and it continues to amaze me. The Wiimote adds so much to the gameplay (I love the Wiimote speaker).

I believe TP will end up being on the greatest action/adventure games I've ever played.

I suppose Ocarina of Time was better for its time. HOWEVER, if you play either one for the first time, you won't magically transport back to 1998 nor conform to its standards. As unreasonable as it sounds, comparing them side to side is probably the only way to correctly judge them. Otherwise, things like nostalgia and childhood memories get in the way.

So I vote Twilight Princess.

I agree I voted for Twilight Princess Because if you play OoT today it wouldn't feel like it did back in 1998 because it isn't 1998 it is 2007 and Standards changed sure OoT was great back in 1998 because it was the first Zelda in 3D Twilight Princess couldn't revolutionize Zelda because it was originally suppose to be only on the GCN, so they couldn't revolutionize it much, but the next one that is Exclusive to the Wii it will Revolutionize Zelda the same way OoT did in 1998, But in terms of Atmosphere Twilight Princess surpasses OoT.

As a game, I thought Twilight was worlds better than OoT. Most people in this thread will probably vote OoT just for the nostalgia factor.

Twilight Princess is a great game, definitley deserved more than an 8.8. However, I still think that OOT destroys it.
