Gears 2....ONLY because Socom: confrontation doesnt have singleplayer....BUT then again I use to be addicted to Socom 2 multiplayer. And I know for a FACT that socom multiplayer is far superior than gears. And no thats not an opinion its a fact.

Have you never played SOCOM II on PS2? That was the best modern military shooter ever. SOCOM has always been about online, that's why it ditched single player. I take SOCOM over Gears because:

-SOCOM has an amazing community

-It's got many community features: Intense clan support, server lists for games, SOCOM.com

-It's the most realistic modern-military shooter. COD4 isn't, trust me. COD4 has almost no recoil (shooting in bursts doesn't affect jack) and perks are way too unrealistic.

-The whole community uses tactics with headsets (1 life per round).

Now, SOCOM and Gears can't be compared, both are different games in their own respects. I just love SOCOM a lot. Best game ever in my opinion, and I always compare it to other military shooters, not alien shooters. I'm not comparing it to Gears 2, but if I had to choose getting a free 360 and free gears 2 and never playing SOCOM, or getting a free SOCOM: Confrontation copy, I would gladly take SOCOM. No fanboyism intended, just my love for the game.

I'm not a fan of tps mp games except for Gears. I have to go with Gears 2 since I am really looking forward to the mp.

Gears 2 got a single player campaign, more multiplayer modes, better weapons, better graphics, better characters to choose from, and also don't forget about bots so you could try out the multiplayer offfline.

One big reason I'm getting Socom is for the official blue tooth headset. Socom is just another war shooter game, with the same fatigues and army type of clothing and same weapons, same dusty dirt towns and envornments, and it's only multiplayer.

And TC, it's SOCOM: Confrontation. Anyway, SOCOM is the best realistic, modern military shooter to date in my opinion. It's got no respawn (only used for practice respawn), great level design, and top-notch realism. The community is amazing, and once you play it, if that's your kind of shooter (by the way, very tactical. Everyone has mics, everyone uses them to talk about strategy, not curse every second), you'll fall in love with it. You obviously don't know jack about SOCOM. How many war shooters here actually have realistic recoil. Not many (COD4 doesn't). What are almost all war shooters? Almost all of them are respawn 90% of the time. SOCOM is 95% of the time 1 life per round. How many shooters like COD4 use tactics on the headst? Not much unless you play with friends/rarely on Search and Destroy. SOCOM always has people using headsets to communicate strategies. Many shooters these days are every man for themselves. SOCOM is all for one, one for all. Obviously you haven't played SOCOM at all. It wipes the floor with any other modern military shooter, especially COD4 which is pure, overrated crap at its attempt to aim for realism. It's a good shooter, just not a real modern military shooter. SOCOM is one of the deepest shooters imo. Anyone who played SOCOM II on the PS2 knows what I'm talking about.

I found the game more enjoyable. I like the gameplay from taking cover to the wall to the type of weapons it has such as the torque bow and hod. It was different from other type of games I played. Like I said I am not a big fan of tps mp games except for Gears. I never enjoyed Graw and Socom gameplay and style. Also people who cheated in Socom turned me off from the game.

sorry to barge in but, i think socom versus gears is better to campare, they are bothe 3rd person shooters that use different cover systems, StealthKnife

No it wasn't lag I can tell the difference between lag and people who cheat. I had Broadband for a long time.
