[QUOTE="SolidGame_basic"]I don't get how one can say Rainbow and Graw is better than Socom Confrontation when Confrontation isn't out yet. :|
LEGEND_C4A

you are absolutely right, but I should have compared the series of each, and comparing the series for all 3, I think rainbow and graw are better. just an opinion.

i also disagree, although i am a fan of rainbow i think socom has better multiplayer, but raainbow has better single player, as for graw i played it a couple times and i hated it, i felt like it was a wanna be socom ( my opinion)

Slant Six promised that Confrontation would return to it's early SOCOM roots. From the looks of it... I think I've been let down.

I'm going with Gears 2. And I don't even like Gears multiplayer...

dude thats cool, we are all gonna have some fun on our systems of choice and games of choice. in the end it doesnt matter which one is better they both will be fine, but unfortunately for socom, Gears will be more popular.

unless of course Socom brings something so new that it will make people who didn't like the game before wet in the pants to get it.

i absolutely cant wait for Socom: Confrontation.. sure, Socom: C will get docked points in reviews for lacking a single-player portion (which i dont think is exactly fair..) so i'm sure it wont get more than AA here on GS while Gears of War 2 is a definite AAA contender.. but in terms of the only comparible aspect of the games (online multiplayer), i'd say that Socom: Confrontation will be better than Gears of War 2..

more players, more options, more customization, bigger maps (scaled maps), more clan support, and etc will make for a more robust online tactical shooter.. with the developers concentrating solely on online multiplayer, you can expect the same kind of support, additions, and longetivity seen with the online-only Warhawk (which contiunes to get better and better dispite providing a supurb online experience from day one)..

LEGEND_C4A

Socom will be fantastic, no doubt about but you can't ignore single player, co-op campaign, multiplayer, and co-op vs comp(dont know how to explain that, but i'm sure you guys know what i'm talking about)

more players doesn't equal better or more fun, bigger maps doesn't mean better,

clan support is good, but people have been doing clan stuff regardless if a game has it or not.

options is always good no doubt.

in the end, both games will be great, but I won't say Gears will be better, what I will say is that it will be a more complete game.

still rather play rainbow six 2 over both of them anyway. ;)

more players =/= more fun.. agreed..

but at the same time less players =/= more fun either.. whenever Gears of War online play comes into discussion, people tend to pretend that "less is better".. which is not always the case..

NEITHER having more players or less players doenst automatically make for "better gameplay".. but all things being equal, more players does automatically make for more options when coupled with scaled maps.. theres no denyng that having the options of 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 8v8, and 16v16 on appropriately scaled maps offers more gameplay options than simply being restricted to 4v4 or 5v5 only... that is the point i was trying to get across.. and as you said, options is always good no doubt....

and yes, established clan support/options >>>>> than trying to put together a "pretend" clan... i cant really see how there can be a debate on that..

and as far as single player goes, that fine.. i do enjoy single player games and respect the fact that Gears of War 2 offers that.. but as i've said in my original post, i was comparing the online portions of said games.. nothing more...

[QUOTE="Bubblehash"][QUOTE="StealthKnife"][QUOTE="Bubblehash"][QUOTE="StealthKnife"]ya u probably nevr played it, your probably one of those idiots who say there game is better because its on thier systemStealthKnife
No that's the problem. I have played them. That's why I think they suck. How can I think a game sucks if I have never played it? You logic=flawed. Oh I am a Idiot huh. Clear insults...Yea you are mature. You can also remove that stinky ass foot from your mouth. I have a PS3 and not a 360. You=MASSIVE FAILURE.

hahaha, u qrke me up, do you even like shooters? it doesnt seem so if u say they both suck

FPS is my favorite genre. About 60% of my PC game collection alone is FPS. But these are TPS. Yes I also like them, but not as much as FPS.

well then what tpg do you like(plz dont say mgs4) ? i understand if u dont like 3rd person games...

I like TPS, just not as much as FPS and what does TPG mean? Third person game? I am guessing you only want TPS.

MGS4

GTA4

Uncharted

Ratchet & Clank (if you want to count that as TPS instead of platformer)

I also have Warhawk, but don't like it. That is PS3 only. I didn't list PC and older games.

sounds good to me, can't argue with what you are saying.

in the end it really comes down to every individual game. some are good with less some good with more. all fun in the end.

It's definitely called Confrontation. How can you hype the game if you don't even know what it's called? Beyond that, gears at this point is much more fun and probably more popular.

Vaasman

Hey you know what I just caught that, ha.

Anyway here are some of my opinions.

Score: Gears of War 2 will most likely outscore Socom: Confrontation

Sales: Gears of War 2 will most likely outsell Socom: Confrontation

Story: Gears of War 2 wins by default since Socom: Confrontation is multiplayer only.

Weapons: You will have more fun in what you could do with your weapons in Gears of War 2 than Socom: Confrontation.

Characters: Characters in Gears of War 2 will actually have personality and a story behind them.

Maps: Gears of War 2 will have more unique maps.

Game Modes: Gears of War 2 have more unique game modes, meat flag for example.

Tactical: Gears of War 2 will be more likely to be more tactical since you can go 2 on 2 to 5 on 5. It's kinda hard trying to be tactical when you have 32 players.

Graphics: Debateble. Both will looks good and look the way they're suppose to look.

Controls: The 360 controller is designed for shooter games.

Music: Since Gears of War 2 actually have a campaign mode there will be music that will follow the situation you're in making it more exciting.

Headset: The biggest reason I'm getting Socom, without it I don't think I would get Socom the month it comes out.

Overall: I'll enjoy both because I'm getting both, but I just have a feeling I'll enjoy Gears of War 2 more. Plus Socom: Confrontation isn't from Zipper games the devs for the original Socom games, so you just gotta be skeptical. Just like COD from IW and COD from Treyarch, one is better than the other.

Gears of War 2 chainsaws Socom: Confirmation in half any time of any day.

Gears of War 2 chainsaws Socom: Confirmation in half any time of any day.

i'm going to have to disagree with you on a few points:

weapons: "fun" is up to the individual.. i, as an individual, may have more fun with the weapon variety and realism of the Socom offerings for example

maps: how do you know Gears will have more unique maps.. the Socom series is known for it's Map design.. some of the maps from the original are timeless (which is why they keep bringing them back in the new titles due to extremely high player demand)

game modes: once again how do you figure Gears will have the more unique game modes?.. Extraction (where you save hostages) remains one of the most unique game modes in a tactical shooter to date..

tactical: you seem to forget that you can still have 4v4 matches on Socom aswell on scaled down maps.. its just that you can also have 16v16 games with everything inbetween aswell.. there's obviously more tactical options with Socom given the higher number of player matchup combinations (whether it be 2v2 or 16v16) and map configuration possiblities.. Socom wins hands down..

controls: the PS3 controller handles third-person games just aswell if not better than the 360 controller.. look at reviews of games like DMC4.. when it comes to FPSs, the 360 controller usually gets the win.. but when it comes to nearly everything else, the PS3 controller gets the nod.. this includes thrid-person action/shooters...

music: are you kidding me?.. who knows how good/bad the music in these upcoming games will be?..

Crysis Warhead > Both.

But if i had to choose between just those 2 i'd definitely go with Gears 2. Just more my type of game in terms of story/gameplay. Yes, Socom has a cover system. However people will still be wildly running around just as they did in the past Socoms just spraying and praying in the direction of someone standing 5ft in front of them while strafing back and forth. Only plus for Socom IMO is i can use a KB/mouse. But then again, i'm waiting for the PC version of Gears 2 anyway so it really doesn't matter.

Not what my friends are saying (private beta testers playing SOCOM as we speak). SOCOM: Confrontation = Returning to classic SOCOM. I agree, SOCOM 3 and CA were **** SOCOM I and II are the only SOCOMs, and Confrontation seems to be joining them.

Well I would expect the better sequel to a game that scored 9.6 to probably be the better game. If I had to choose one, I'd pick up Gears 2.

Hey you know what I just caught that, ha.

Score: Gears of War 2 will most likely outscore Socom: Confrontation

Story: Gears of War 2 wins by default since Socom: Confrontation is multiplayer only.

Weapons: You will have more fun in what you could do with your weapons in Gears of War 2 than Socom: Confrontation. - And you will feel more immersed in SOCOM because it's actually realistic. Weapons can't be compared. Don't try.

Characters: Characters in Gears of War 2 will actually have personality and a story behind them. - SOCOM had some of the most memorable characters, including Specter, Jester, HQ, etc.

Maps: Gears of War 2 will have more unique maps. - Obviously you haven't played any SOCOM game to know SOCOM has some of the most unique and well designed maps ever.

Game Modes: Gears of War 2 have more unique game modes, meat flag for example. - Hmm...You don't know jack about SOCOM modes? Escort, Extraction, Breach, etc. Both have unique modes.

Tactical: Gears of War 2 will be more likely to be more tactical since you can go 2 on 2 to 5 on 5. It's kinda hard trying to be tactical when you have 32 players. - Never played SOCOM or you would know how tactics really work.

Graphics: Debateble. Both will looks good and look the way they're suppose to look.

Controls: The 360 controller is designed for shooter games. - Opinion.

Music: Since Gears of War 2 actually have a campaign mode there will be music that will follow the situation you're in making it more exciting. - SOCOM II had some of the most memorable music ever, and the orchestra they used did an amazing job. Anyone who's played SOCOM II knows what I'm talking about.

- You don't know jack about Zipper do you? Don't make predictions about developers when you have no clue on their back history. Zipper is only Zipper in name, not in people. Slant Six was also composed of SOCOM players, and according to beta testers, SOCOM: Confrontation looks like a true sequel to SOCOM II. You don't know how Zipper **** up with SOCOM do you?

Gears of War 2 chainsaws Socom: Confirmation in half any time of any day. -

Ah Reverse, don't know what you're talking about when it comes to SOCOM do you?

And TC, it's SOCOM: Confrontation. Anyway, SOCOM is the best realistic, modern military shooter to date in my opinion. It's got no respawn (only used for practice respawn), great level design, and top-notch realism. The community is amazing, and once you play it, if that's your kind of shooter (by the way, very tactical. Everyone has mics, everyone uses them to talk about strategy, not curse every second), you'll fall in love with it. SOCOM II was the only game I played other than Vice City for 2 years straight.Albanian_Killa

the curse-less mic thing, thats probably not going to happen in this day and age.

i agree.. but in my experience with Socom and Socom 2, most people really wanted to strategize rather than curse and talk racial crap because of the no-respawn in the games.. i mean when you're playing a 16 player game, you dont want to be the first guy to die.. that's a long to time to be staring at the other people playing until the next round...

when playing games that either have instant respawns or no-respawn games with maybe 2v2 or 4v4, the trash talk and nonsense comes into play more notably...

but i must admit that there are some pretty "interesting" converstions going on with the people who are already dead and waiting for the next round.. that's plenty of time to vent, get a fresh drink, or just talk about whatever.. man, i think that kind of added to the charm of the game actually...

It really did. Great conversations I've had over the past years with fellow SOCOMers. The guys were all just mature. People joked together, etc. Hell, people who never knew another guy started talking about each other's life story like they were friends for life. SOCOM's been responsible for many friendships made. That's why it's the best online community in my opinion. As long as the vets stay in SOCOM, and SOCOM always keeps the 1 life per round, this will always be in the game. Now that I think about it, I'm glad SOCOM isn't a vastly popular game like Gears, Halo, MGS4, etc. because that's what made it special, SOCOMers. It wasn't just anyone who bought this game, it was a specific target audience, mature players who were looking for tactical gaming. Now of course, you're going to have bad in the community, but SOCOM had a lot of good.

Socom 2 is about 10 million times better than Gears of War, and I suspect it will be 100 million times better than Gears of war 2.

I definetly think Socom over gears2. I think socom is better and gears2 is just an add on.

I have to say though Socom can be one of those love or hate games.

To add I believe socom has the best community of any game i have ever played. And sales dont have anything thing to do with quality. Look at Army of 2 and Kane and Lynch.

I mean if you think Socom: Confirmation will be better than Gears of War 2, then hype Socom AAAE since Gears is hyped AAAE with no hesitation.

For single player: Gears 2 since SCOM wont have one.

For multiplayer though SOCOM easily. I had SOCOM on the psp and it was amazing. Everyone used their mics to think up tactics which made it really fun. Plus the maps are well balanced too. It will be way more realistic which I like too.

Plus SOCOM should have character customisation and gun customisation which is great. It means everyone can use the guns they play best with and sometimes people can use guns that ork well with the rest of the team.

Overall Gears 2 will be a better game, but I will probably enjoy SOCOM more as when it comes to multiplayer, SOVOM curb stomps gears.

ReverseCycology

You got these things wrong and let me correct you.

Guns: Socom

Maps: Definitly Maps, if you say gears then you obviously never played a socom.

Modes: There are 7 different modes in socom for each level so socom wins.

Tactical: you got to be kidding me with this. Gears 2 is not more tactical than socom. Thats just being a fanboy.

Graphics: Gears 2 easily wins this one. Socom cant compete graphic wise with gears 2. Only Killzone 2 can compete.

Music: It really doesnt matter, everyone has different tastes.

GeoW 2 will be remembered for ages. Socom will be like the one on the PS2, just another game
