Ubisoft Montreal boss Yannis Mallat does not think gamers are turned off by the idea of a new Assassin's Creed game every year.

"The players will tell us. Right now there are more and more coming into the franchise, so I don't see that day."

"It's our breakthrough. When you have quality content, the frequency of coming out with the game is not an issue at all."

"On the contrary, people expect more and more of that content. So it's natural to be able to provide that content. The gamers are happy and it's our job to make them happy."

What a load of sh!t. AC III was far from a quality product.

I strongly disagree... but then again, I can see where are they coming from. Fact of the matter is, every AC game sold better than its predcessor, and AC3 was a huge commercial success, selling over 10 million copies, I think.

AC3 may have its share of noticeable flaws (it's still a good game, playing it right now), but it brought Ubisoft a lot of money, so it's obvious they got the impression they did things right.

The first game was crap, the 2nd was mediocre, and the rest have been crap. If there was one series I couldn't see getting yearly installments in a million years it would be Assassin's Creed, and yet here we are. I don't know who buys these games, but apparently people do. Welcome to capitalism.

Mission design and gameplay evolution seems to suffer greatly when you annualize a franchise. In both areas AC has been horrendous lately (well, actually always tbh). The campaign in AC3 was one of the weakest I have ever played. Shepard from green marker, to green marker prompetd to tap a bitton to interact. Still gives me nightmares :(.

Golden chart numbers: Assasins creed one: 10 million (Consoles and PC.) Assasins Creed 2: 10 million (Consoles and PC.) Assasins creed brother hood: 9 million (Consoles and PC.) Assasins creed revelations: 6 million (Consoles and PC.) Assasins creed iii: 7 million (Consoles and PC.) Other: Bloodlines: 1 million (PSP) Liberation: 600,000(PSVITA) So 43.6 million in total. Now before you guys think that's impressive, Modern Warfare 3 sold 14 million on the 360 alone, and 12.5 million on the PS3 alone. Assasins creed is declining and will never reach those sales lelvels. They had a chance with Assasin3, however, they ruined their own hype with that one after launch,

After AC3 I have no interest in the series anymore. Now if they want to go back to the old formula I'm there.

AC III wasn't great, but it's not really all their fault.

There is some truth to it because the sales ARE coming in every year.

Proof? The PS3 versions has sold more than the 360 version and the latest form SONy is that it sold around 5 million, if the 360 version sold less, and the PC version isn't even mentioned, but let's say it sold a million, how are you getting 14?

They sell well because the games are easy to play and it appeals to large amounts of people who don't do well in video games and children.  I personally don't like them story all ways takes to long to get into(The begining is a chore) and I hate the idea of being able to go the majority of the game juts one hitting everyone.

I don't know anymore, I swore the series off after Brotherhood, decided to play Revelations in anticipation that AC3 was going to be a turning point for the series, now I'm back to not caring anymore, but that's how I feel FOR NOW, this series makes me feel like a partner in a dysfunctional relationship with constant make-ups and break-ups, sure he beats me but he tells me he still loves me and is trying to change, I mean shoot as much as AC3 disappointed me in many areas the ship battles were the best part, now they're shifting into pirate territory I can see myself getting sucked into playing it even though I'm telling myself I shouldn't. I'm the same way with theater popcorn, it's expensive, the butter makes me sick, but sometimes I can't stop myself from getting it anyways, even though I regret it a couple hours later and I've regretted it enough times I should know better... but I don't always do what I should.

I just don't like how the series has moved from assassinations to chaining kill moves in combat. Ever since Brotherhood Ubisoft has done their absolute best to make the combat easier and easier while minimizing missions where you actually have to tail a target and assassinate him without being detected. At the same time, they add in tons of filler activities that detract from the core gameplay that made the original AC games enjoyable. They shouldn't even call the series "Assassin's" Creed anymore. This new pirate one looks like it'll focus exclusively on combat this time around which has me completely uninterested.

Well he's not wrong. System Wars does not represent the average consumer. The average consumer is impatient, quickly bored of things, and wants something "new" regardless if it has a big change. See: Call of Duty/Apple products. Sucks for us the minority who likes changes in their games but oh well what can you do.

I do not want an Assassin's Creed game every year. I enjoy Assassin's Creed I and II, but III is underwhelming. I would like more effort put into improving the game system and I understand the length of time between each game's release because of the additional effort.

Exactly what are those changes you speak of? they already do major changes in each AC game and i know that because i played and finished all AC games in two weeks and each game improved so much from the previous game.

besides says the girl who plays DOTA or league of legends :P.. those games and most Strategy PC games are exactly the same, one is little bit more difficult than the other or one has a little higher monthly fee than the other or one has more lighting attacks while the other dosent :P

Well DOTA has had 2 games and the sequel came out roughly 7 years later. League of Legends is a different game by a different company. :P

And PC strategy games are only exactly the same if you don't play any of them. If you were to tell a PC gamer that Starcraft was the same as Europa Universalis they'd laugh all day.

Having played all the Assassin's Creed games, (Except for Liberation which I don't think would be silly to assume that it handles like an Assassin's Creed game) I say that while changes were there, the core still remains the same for all of them. The biggest change was from AC to AC 2 (Which made the game go from a repetitive turd into a fantastic game). After that....There weren't any big changes, and the changes they did made were either half-assed or sucked.

Also, there's been 5 main Assassin's Creed (So not even counting the spinoffs) games in 5 years. That's great for those who love more of the same thing, (Like CoD fans and Dynasty Warriors fans) but not so great if someone wanted something different from the series. (For example, you will never find anyone who loathed AC 2 and loved Brotherhood)

I personally need a break after AC3, if I ever return. I'm going to wait for the series next big hit. AC3 was disappointing so I'm out until something AAA comes out.

I never could get into Assassin's Creed, it *looks* good but whenever I play it I just get bored, funny thing is I enjoyed the first one the most even though it's regarded as the worst one by many, I think I enjoyed it because it was somthing fresh at the time, running from guards on rooftops was enough to keep me happy back then

Talk with your wallets.

You aren't changing anything if you are just buying the same franchises over again and ignoring the unique, new ones.
