Uncharted gains more from PS3's HDD than it does from BR.
Like for example - no loading.

morons...
why do u think dvd's cant play at 1080p???
its because the transfer rate on the blu ray is higher allowing more pixel to be filled in smaller amount of time resulting in advanced codec which then allows for higher resolutions.
iliatay
so your saying this game is going to run at higher resolutions than 360 games...?
no im replying to what that guy said about blu ray bieng pointless. im just stating that blu rays are the only types of discs that u can buy that diplays in 1080p
Its clear you do not know anything about Blu-ray, the specs, or how the PS3 utilizes it. that mess about advanced codec and higher transfer rate you said was just sad and uneducated. Is this seriously what some people think?Though I don't believe HipHopGamer on anything I do agree that Blu-ray is a major factor why Uncharted 2 cannot be done on the 360. Ofcourse there are other reasons like the AWESOME power of Cell, I doubt 360 could handle the character animations present in Uncharted 2.
He's not a fanboy he's just easily excitable He also doesn't know what he's talking about. Especially the textures part.[QUOTE="Next-Gen-Tec"]
So when will he admit he is a PS3 fanboy instead of trolling on the 360?
Zaibach
hip hop gamer show.
A. hes an obvious ps3 fanboy
B. hes an idiot and has no idea what hes talking about 100% of the time
He should learn how to speak english properly before he tries harder things like talking about hardware.
yes i know my grammar is atrocious.
washd123
agreed who would listen to hiphopgamer :S, he's pretty much facepalmed himself more than all of system wars combined together. Its more how naughty dog used the tech like the cell and RSX that uncharted looks good and the fact they know a lot bout the hardware.Blu-ray only really gives them more headroom for data.

I have Unchared preordered and all, but. . . what? Bluray is just a storage system. The only time that it really affects the game is like in MGS4 where they didn't want to compress certain files too much (like all of the sounds and music) to help it run a little better. Uncharted 2, as awesome as it looks, won't need all of the space.
[QUOTE="washd123"]
[QUOTE="Dead-Memories"] Honestly, ND doesn't even go into depth with WHAT exactly the 25 gigs of memory was used for, uncompressed sound, full on multi-national languages, it really isn't nessacary. tmntPunchout
25gb of space means jack sh*t when it comes to the blu-ray disks used for the ps3. the drive is so slow that data has to be copied multiple times. meaning that 25gb is really about 15 or so
That still doesn't change the fact that it probably will not need to load during the game if it is similar to Uncharted 1. I could care less of what the space is used for as long as it runs great which I have no doubt ND will succeed in.
Why would you care what the space is used for if it is used efficiently?
so if you are conceding that the space is because of multiple copies of the data on the same disc to overcome the drive speed then wouldn't that mean it could be done on dvd as well maybe requiring only another disc. after all uncharted is not a free roam game so swapping wouldn't be much of an issue. Also the trasnfer rate on the PS3 is pretty low (2X) so it necesitates Installs, making the argument even MORE redundant. Bluray has nothing to do with the graphics, that is dictated my the VRAM, System RAM, CPU and GPU.BoloTheGreatto be fair, i install every game i play these days. On the 360 and PS3 and PC. I hate running off of discs.

I get your point though, why not have the best performance and loading you possibly can? People seem to STILL have this misguided veiw that BR has something to do with graphics, infact to an extent the size of a game in GB has little baring on it's graphics to a point.

 I liked that.Bungie says: PS3 can't Reach
Rare says: PS3 lacks the Nuts & Bolts
MS says: B.R. not needed.

It will be fun in 5 years when we all look back and have a good laugh about the power of the Cell and Blu-Ray.

[QUOTE="G-O-M-J"]like i said before, uncharted can be done on the 360 just compress it or put it on 2 discs, problem solved.skektek
Continuing with that logic U2 (or any game for that matter) could be done on the Wii or the DS.
lol true, lemms think it's just blu-ray stopping Uncharted 2 to go 360. The game uses the PS3's strengths and if it were to go on the 360 (never) it will need to be heavily modified for the 360, the end result may not be as good as the game is now.[QUOTE="G-O-M-J"]like i said before, uncharted can be done on the 360 just compress it or put it on 2 discs, problem solved.skektek

insecurity at it's finest. Let me clear this up, any game can run on any system but that doen't mrean it will be as good or the same. I'm sure Crysis coud be made for the PS3 or Wii, Halo Reach could possibly even be done on PS3. Seriously if the lemms want Unxharted 2 so bad they should know it's 1st party, no gamer should miss out on such a gem and since the PS3 just had a price cut, you know what I'm getting at ;)Don't worry Microsoft I believe is actually aiming for the future which will be DD. Sony won the format war at a time when formats are being phased out congrats guys.
PS3 and 360 have a completely different architecture, Koijma once stated that porting MGS4 on 360 could be done but the game needs to be heavily modified thus the final product may differ. So end this thread and lets stop repeating outrselfs. Lemms just want to bash Blu-ray in this thread, if MS adopts Blu-ray next gen it would be utter fail for the lemms if they support it. Blu-ray FTW!Swift_Boss_A
What's sad is xbox360 games are still comparable to ps3 games and none of those's games have graphics engine built only for 360 like ps3's games.smokedagoodyo
Comparable? I see lots of topics about PS3 "graphics king": Uncharted, Uncharted 2, MGS4, Killzone2, GT5, GOW 3, Heavy Rain, etc People have to constantly defend Crysis against PS3 exclusives. I don't see that happening with 360 games.

Less restrictions or more due to load times being slower? The 360 wasn't restricted at all with games like Lost Odyssey. They spanned 4 discs just fine.insecurity at it's finest. I'm not against Blu-Ray itself, now that it's won. I'm against Sony only putting a 2x's Blu-Ray drive in PS3's.

Less restrictions or more due to load times being slower? The 360 wasn't restricted at all with games like Lost Odyssey. They spanned 4 discs just fine. The PS3 has a standard HDD, a slower optical drive is moot (just look at Batman:AA). It was restricted by the fact that it came of 4 discs instead of one. The developer had to take extra time and expense to master the game for 4 discs. Not to mention that each copy sold costs the publisher a bit more vs one disc.[QUOTE="skektek"]
