I've played both games & the decsion isn't as hard as it appears. Your about to spend $60 & I bet you would like to get your moneys worth. Unless you are 100% sure you will love Uncharted 2's multiplayer then Mass Effect 2 is way better of a purchase. Uncharted 2 has amazing unseen graphics for a console game & is solid in all aspects through its campaign except for time. Uncharted 2 is 8 to 10 hours long & Mass Effect 2 is 20 to 30 hours long. You will want to play both games through a 2nd time. I bought Uncharted 2, but didn't like the MP so after 2 times through the campaign just shy of 2 months owning the game I sold it.

20 - 30 hours?
for you, maybe.
Most people are clocking the game from 12-15 hours.
As of right now, as we speak,
UNCHARTED 2 is losing in this System Wars poll. By a significant margin.
Mass Effect 2 is not.

Halo 3 didn't win an AIAS Game Of The Year.
Likewise, Neither has Mass Effect 2. ;)

sure if you don't mind dying at the end of the game
No not enough said & one of the worst reasons I've ever seen. Uncharted 2 is the better choice if TC is sure he will really enjoy the games MP. I didn't like the MP compared to other games. So ignoring the multiplayer, Mass Effect 2 is the best & smartest choice because TC will have 3 times as much game time available to him in 1 play through the campaign. Buy Mass Effect 2 & rent Uncharted 2.As of right now, as we speak,

Yeah I got a little over 23 hours in my 1st time through & just over 20 the 2nd time. Of course I explored nearly all planets, mined more than enough to cover nearly all upgrades, & completed every side quest.[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]

Mob rule kid....
Mob rule.
;)
Aside from the fact that they have nearly the same or the same score on every aggregate review site and ME2 is already being talked about as GOTY material? That's not mob rule at all.Mass Effect 2 is awesome. I haven't played Uncharted 2. But IGN said Mass Effect 2 is better than Uncharted 2.SaltyMeatballs

oh snap son you showed me, i guess GOW3 sucks too because it hasn't won AIAS either lol
btw my comparison is because Halo 3 and Uncharted 2 show very similar qualities: overhyped shooters used to dismiss other legitimately good games

Gamespot also said that Demon's Souls (9.0) was better than Dragon Age: Origins (PC) (9.5). 9.0 > 9.5 Wait a minute.... When Mass Effect wins AIAS Game Of The Year,
Perhaps it will be as great as Uncharted....maybe. As of now...it's just another upstart to the current king.
You should think twice about if letting SW decide for you is a good idea or not.
Anyways, I have not played UC2, but I can only recommend Mass Effect 2.
It's my personal best game ever.

Who the AIAS gives Game of the Year to at the end of the day doesn't mean squat. Because it's an opinion. Just like the Academy Awards, at the end of the day, won't mean squat about what you enjoy. And Uncharted 2 is hardly the king... of, anything, really. There are a lot of better games out there.Who the AIAS gives Game of the Year to at the end of the day doesn't mean squat. Yeah....
You'd like to deny greatness, but unfortunately, that's a hard pressing thing to do.
Games that win AIAS Awards, just like Artists that win Album Of The Year Grammy Awards are usually quite deserving.
Uncharted 2's greatness is set in stone just like Gone With The Wind and Titanic. Can't take back greatness...sorry.

I only pay certain attention to gaming critics, since, well, gaming a far more expensive hobby than music and movies. And I can't remember ever paying much attention to the AIAS' awards, so I won't start now.

 Did this guy just say the artists who win Grammys are deserving? Bullllllllllllllllllllllll. What you think Taylor Swift suddenly has talent or something? I guess mainstream game tastes extend to mainstream music tastes. Look up some indie bands with good review scores, and tell me they aren't more deserving. Much better, original, and talented. Video games aren't comparable to music. In music Grammy Award winners are often talentless craps who are panned by critics. In games the deserving game tends to win. Did this guy just say the artists who win Grammys are deserving? Bullllllllllllllllllllllll. I'm a musician and a pretty good snob at that.
She's talented.
the only reason why U2 is losing in the polls is because there are hermits and lemmings voting for mass effect 2...if you take out the hermits, U2 would be winning by a very large margin, because its basically 2 groups voting for ME2 while 1 group for U2

bull****, people call this place cowspot all the time because the polls are always dominated by ps3 fanboys
First of all, IGN should have never started this stupid comparison. The only thing they have in common is the TPS part. Everything else is vastly different. Second of all, asking SW which game you should get is dumb. Watch some videos, read about the games, and make a choice. Theyre both at the top of their respective genres, you cannot, repeat CANNOTmake a bad choice.

and all cows have gaming PC's too ....ME2 > UC2 though UC2 has better dialogue RPG options but ME2 has better platforming racing options.
Both totally comparable since they are both great RTS games...
Those two games are really good... And really close...
I vored ME2, only because of the length of the story (I am not the biggest mp guy), and since ME2 took longest to complete it got my vote.
Honestly tho you should really just pick what game that appeals to you more.
Both are amazing games and high calibur representitives of their respective platforms. But some other points to consider;
UC2 is a straight up TPS, mixed with Tomb Raider styIe platforming, and explosive Michael Bay cinematics. ME2 is an RPG with TPS combat. If you're really into inetractive story where you play a part, and like customizing your experience, ME2 has the edge.
Replayability: as TC had brought up the cost of games, ME2 has outstanding bang for the buck. I'm not sure how long UC2 is, I'm guessing at least 15hrs in the campaign? And it also has multiplayer as added replayability. ME2 has the potential for 45-55 hrs of play on a single playthrough (assuming you take all the possible side missions), and on top of that has replayability just in its SP campaign. With the different cIasses to try and plot choices to make, you'll have a unique experience each time.
Voice cast: UC2 has Nolan North and Claudia Black. ME2 has Keith David, Carrie Ann Moss, Yvonne Stravosky, Tricia Helfer, Michael Hogan, Seth Green, and MARTIN SHEEN. No disrespect to Nolan but... oh hell, NO game has a voice cast close to ME2 :D
