Okay, I admit that I put the "by far" thing to attract attention to the thread :P, but Digital Foundry says that Uncharted 3 is unmatched in its ability to produce technically amazing graphics in current-gen hardware. From what I've seen of Gears 3, I'm just more impressed with Uncharted 3 overall.
tormentos
Well, i agree Uncharted 3 has more wow moments, mostly due to it´s more cinematic nature. Gears 3, on the other hand, has more open gameplay 4 players can make different approaches and tactics.
We have to give credit to what games are trying to do and not bash them for being different in concept.
No dude Uncharted 3 look consistently better, the fire and water are second to non,on Gears 3 those elements look silly, the water look like a transparent glace, and the fire is compose of spinning textures to simulate fire. While Gears has 4 characters at once some times 5 i think, those are balance by taking enemies out of the equation,so you render 2 more characters and render 2 less enemies at once. Been a little more open doesn't mean much when you have a traced path to fallow, which you can't change.Gears 3 has 4 or 5 character....allies. Now add all the enemies and you allways have huge battles. Considering that, and the fact it has the same visual quality of Uncharted 3, i would say it´s a very impressive achievement.
Oh, you mention fire and water, very apropriate. Why dont you also bring explosions, particles, smoke, god rays, etc to the equation?
