That moment when Doom has a better platforming than Uncharted 4 O_O XD
Just beat it. Pretty damn disappointed to be honest.
There's an insane amount of traversal in this game and I have no idea why, it takes no skill on the players part and it gets incredibly tedious.
The pacing, very poor. The entire Scotland section felt like it dragged on for ever because it was just non stop puzzles and tedious traversing of the environment. Uncharted 2 had the perfect mix of combat, exploration and light puzzles but here it just seems like it never ends. I will say thought that when there is combat it's excellent. There's just not enough of it.
I'm not sure why they decided to have these big open spaces for you to explore, when there's nothing to find except some random collectible or note. It all just feels incredibly shallow.
There's also so much god damn walking in this game, which wouldn't be so bad if there was some attempt at world building or learning more about the characters. But there's barely any of that.
@moistcarrot: I think the slow pacing and excessive climbing stuff is there as a tribute to the most dedicated fans of the series. You are right, there's way too much of it, early on especially. I'd chalk up the over-praising and hyperbole to those who are the series biggest fans. That, or they are judging the game only based on the combat experience. In that regard alone, it is easily the best.
Truth be told it is still a solid game in the franchise, and I think most who are in the honeymoon phase will come to their senses later on and realize 2 was the best of the lot.
@Bigboi500: I said the same thing. I felt like there were spurts of combat of about 10 minutes max each. And all together aside from the long action sequence with the truck there were about 7 or 8 of those short spurts.
Up until chapter 12 it felt like the game was 70% climbing, puzzles, story....and 30% combat.
Not really enough for me since the combat is so well done.
I'd give the game a 11/10, because of the deep combat. rich story and engrossing gameplay, not to mention best console graphics to date. All of it combines deep gameplay with a harrowing story over a brother love for another brother.
A legitimate GOTY candidate and a top 10 GOAT. nicely done Naughty GODS.

you say too much climbing, i say there's just enough. there was too much damn shooting in uncharted 2, and it made me feel like i was playing as a supersoldier instead of a treasure hunter. the series should be about treasure hunting and exploring, i.e. platforming and puzzle-solving--not just constant cover shooting.
Yes i see many are seeing the MANY complaints i had about the combat being MIA and to much boring climbing/ open dead world/ pushing ur brothers big ass up then sliding then Forced walking with puzzles ALL combine for Slow, dull, tedious gameplay. Uncharted 4 has big issues just like MGS5/ GTA4 & MGS4 for examples in which many websites states are 10s but we know they were full of shit once WE got our hands on the games. I'Puzzd give Uncharted 4 a 8.0 because half the game is pure repeativeness and boring
Puzzles? LOL. They don't have puzzles in this game. They tell you how to "solve" everything. This game receiving raving reviews would translate into more triple A games being movie like. Let the game movie era take full stride.

what annoys me is that ND will never improve their games because all they get is praise from critics and zombie fanboys like @Heil68. They could make games that are significantly better, they are certainly capable of it, but as long as all they see is praise, why would they? It all feels like a frustrating waste of potential brought about by the mighty media/fanboy circle-jerk that occurs whenever a new ND game releases.
If UC4 was released as a new IP from some random studio no one heard of as a multiplat, I wonder what kind of reviews it would get.

I certainly understand your concerns, and agree with most of what you say. Although I think you are being overly harsh towards the fans of the series. I've seen that kind of attitude in regards to fans of every game and every system, and don't really think it's fair to hold such a myopic view point for those who like what we don't. Some people just like cinematics and ridiculous over-the-top scenarios that are outside the realm of possibility in our reality.
I think ND hit a true home run with The Last of Us. It, too, is cinematic, but also holds both solid gameplay mechanics and story elements together for a strong and compelling piece of work. imo that game is their one true masterpiece. Not Uncharted 4.

That would be fine if any of those elements had any kind of substance to them, but the puzzles are very easy to solve and the platforming may as well be automatic.
I'm sitting watching the final credits roll. That was kickass.
That ending is possibly one of my favorite in gaming
Also, this happened during my playthrough. Possible spoiler warning until Chapter, uh, 17, I think:
Puzzles? LOL. They don't have puzzles in this game. They tell you how to "solve" everything. This game receiving raving reviews would translate into more triple A games being movie like. Let the game movie era take full stride.
Hahahaa... you seem pretty upset with the reviews...
let it go no amount of downplay or damage control will change the fact that this is a high scoring game and that it got 10 here, many series have die without one of those here an d many still waiting to get one.

Yes that has being said about all Uncharted games including Uncharted 2 with 96% and Uncharted 3 with 92% and considering your are the author of such post as..
Yes the PS4 is the console for casual gamers and casual games indeed. Sony is on a roll with Flops & will not stop . Hell a shitty walking simulator Firewatch outsold SF5 last month in sales ahahaha. No one wanted that bare bones trash known as SF5 lol. No one bought Uncharted Lazy port last Fall never making NPD. The Oder flopped. Until Yawn flopped cuz no one wanted QTE trash for $60 lol.
PS4 are for the casuals & for casual games for mom and daddy to play. No mans sky is another pile of shit for old men or casuals to play cuz that looks boring as hell with gameplay from uh...mobile phones lol. 90s games have more gameplay thats next gen then that Pile Of Puke
This ^^ is clear you are a very butthurt and extremely bitter lemming crying some bitter years because Uncharted 4 >>> Anything on xbox one..lol
But this one is even better.
So excited to play this new Gears of war 4 game. Graphics look the best on any console along with the new enemys which look so damn kool compared to generic white bald dudes in other stale shooters lmao. I love theyre going with a creepy atmosphere & darker. The new characters also look very kool and glad they went with a girl and guy coop since i love playing coop in Gears of war.
I hope we get new trailer and the date of the Beta for Gears of war 4 for Spring. I hope its this month
You downplay Uncharted 4 yet you are hype for Gears of war 4 even that is not epic doing it any more, and even that the last chapter in the series Judgement flopped score wise with a 79% on meta..lol
So basically you are a bitter lemm..lol
Also, this happened during my playthrough. Possible spoiler warning until Chapter, uh, 17, I think:
Wait does the player control that?

The conversation only happens if you go examine the cannon. The suicide in response is definitely player controlled lol
After beating Uncharted 4, it certainly deserves the perfect score for the single player. The multiplayer is great but lacking coop which made U2 and U3's so great. As coop is slated to be added in about 5-6 months, U4 will become my favorite game of all time; replacing U2.
I did it fellas.
I beat Uncharted 4 in all of it's glory on Crushing Difficulty and I just want to say that 10/10 was WELL justified.
Phenomenal Game and great closure to the Series. This was Naughty Dog's Magnum Opus.

yeah, real shame someone likes the game and doesn't share your fanboy views eh? lmao But yeah, you know what makes a good game, you should go into development and become a world class game developer with your knowledge of what people like and what constitutes good games and good gameplay.
We all eagerly await your results.

I'm replaying in Crushing. hardly ever do this. Was stealth more important than shootouts? I first played on moderate so I was mixing the two.

I mixed the two as well and honestly it was just more frustrating than anything. I'd say if you can sneak your way through the game then do it, saves you a whole lot of hassle.
Also Auto Aim is your friend. (had to use it on the last few chapters. I HAD IT with most of BS fights man.

Does using auto aim affect your ability to get the trophy? I turned it off on moderate because I like aiming for the headshot.

I still got some trophies with it on. I don't know if it does though. I only used the Auto Aim around Chapter 18 to the end cause I was dead tired of missing and Ammo is very precious in Crushing mode.

@with_teeth26: 10/10, 90+MC
stay mad, uc4 is clearly a masterpiece and GOTY
why would I be mad? I finished the game and enjoyed it. I just think it had some fairly glaring issues that probably wont be addressed because there aren't enough people offering up actual criticism. A real fan of the series would be willing to recognize this so that future games would be even better. Are you telling me you enjoyed every minute of the climbing sections, or that you didn't wish for a few more options during stealth?
a real fan would know when to criticise the game in hopes of improving future iterations. Blind praise helps no one and only serves to set expectations too high for those going in, leading to disappointment.
Lol at this article from Videogamer.

yea of course, I didn't mean to disrespect people who really like uncharted, I think its a great formula. Its the fact that so many consider the games to be perfect because some critics gave it 10/10. I am certainly capable of finding problems in my favourite games and series.
I think Rockstar suffer from similar issues where their games always get amazing reviews even if they have some pretty serious issues (ala GTA IV).
lems and hermits still having a meltdown ?
such a masterpiece, MP is also excellent.
12/10
meltdown for a mediocre game that last no more than 7-8 hours?
@MK-Professor: roughly 15 hours, lol PC gamers
some people even reported that they finished in 6 hours, but sure it will take 15 hours if you take naps in between.

The average is over 14 hours. Don't be a liar.
There is a Trophy for completing the game in 6 hours or less- it's called the Speedrun Trophy, and only 0.9% of all Uncharted 4 players have it. Stay salty, though.
