someone post their impressions when you play it...i'm pretty curious about this one. namely, do you fight just people or other sorts of baddies? (i'm a big monster, supernatural, zombie nut).

Regular pirates, "upgraded" pirates, and if you watch the Massive Attack trailer, there might be some mystical monsters in the game. Maybe the chubacabra(sp)? :o

Wow, I didn't expect the demo to be that satisfying in terms of gameplay. It was mostly all shooting, and it felt really good and tight. Loved the controls and the small amount of platforming I did was a good change of pace from the gunplay. The graphics were terrific, but we've seen them and we know that the game looks top notch. What I was surprised with was the AI, they put up a good fight. Uncharted looks like it is going to shape up to be a very solid game that I can add to my PS3 collection. Props to Naughty Dog, it looks like they are going to deliver another great franchise. I really have nothing to hate on about the demo.

Even cows are owned, the demo is region locked so no demo for me and every other person with a PAL PS3. It says please insert the disc when you start the demo with PAL PS3, this is a complete joke.
I wish the game was OUT today, that's how bad I want to play it. Assassins Creed is coming out next week, which should make the wait easier....but ugh....it can't come sooner! ugh.

Yes, surprisingly it is pretty good. The pirates don't just use one spot of cover and pop up the same way every time. They'll move, flank, and pretty much make you dead if you aren't paying attention. All in all I'm very impressed with the demo. Pros - The controls are tight, no problems with shooting or platforming. Cover takes getting used to but becomes second nature after a few minutes. - Graphics...Wow, is about all I can say. Yes, there are some noticeable jaggies but every console game has those if you look. Now, the lighting and animations are top notch. You step over a root or rock and Drake actually lifts his foot. You step into shadows and they meld over his clothes. You step in water and you get wet (Try rolling ;) ). The environment is very well done and has a lot of life. No tearing, no hiccups, no popins. Console graphics king, in my opinion. - Gun play and combat. Well, I haven't gotten the hand-to-hand quite down yet but I'm loving it all. It's very fluid and easily accessible to new players if they put their mind to it. Shooting and fighting isn't hard but the enemies do make it more difficult when they are bobbing and weaving. - Voice acting is very well done. Not HS quality but more believable then anyone except Andy Serkis as King Bohan. And I actually laughed during the intro, which I don't do in most games. So the dialogue is believable and refreshing. Cons - Vegetation, there is a lack of vegetation in certain spots and it does look flat in others. It's nitpicking because it still looks great, however it is still a con. - The demo is linear. I don't know how much that will hold up in the rest of the game but the demo is a straight path (With a few side nooks). Pro and Con (Depends on the player) - The main guy isn't a muscle bound steroid freak with a hankering to blow up small animals. Take it for what you will. Definitely having some fun and I intend to buy this game.
The AI isn't bad, and the shooting is solid. The animations are still the standout thing from this game, imo. Naughty Dog certainly delivered with this one; I'm guessing it'll get an 8.0-8.5 from stricter reviewers like GS and 9's elsewhere.

i just got done playing the demo myself, played it on normal, game is very very beautiful and combat is very well done too, it feels like you're just some dude with a gun and not a military soldier, and the enemies are all great too, i got the hang of the combat system very quickly... was going to play hard mode after that, but power went out here :(
also, i like how you dry faster in the sun than standing in the shade, and how only the clothes that come in contact with the water get wet

I like the everyman aspect, gives more of a feeling that it's an actual person. And the screen loses all color when you start getting really hurt. It goes straight black and white when you die.

The health system is just like Gears of War or Halo 2... Or pretty much every other shooter now-a-days. The colors become de-saturated when you get hurt, so you know you need to find cover and let your health recharge. The "everyman" stuff seemed like it was mostly his reaction to being shot at. He covered his head and started swearing, and muttered things like "Here we go.." when he's about to jump out and face some enemies. I didn't notice any movement changes when he was hurt, but it might've been there.

His movements are organic; every jump animation is different. Sometimes he stumbles, and he isn't perfect.

Take Halo 3 and NBA 08 to your nearest Gamestop for store credit towards the other title, then you'll have time and money, because you won't have to dedicate your time towards those 2 titles. :) You have to have both of these games!
