Seriously, look at the visuals in both games. Uncharted has amazing animation and beautifully detailed environments. Alan Wake on the other hand looks like a Half-Life 2 mod but without the expressive characters. Just look at these two screens.

I mean, Uncharted looks so much livelier and vibrant it's not even funny. Alan wake looks dull and uninspired, and it doesn't look like it really has any particular tricks up it's sleeve that are going to turn anyone's head. And if you need an example of how Uncharted's animation trumps Alan Wake's without seeing them in motion, just look at the facial expressions on the characters! The hero in Uncharted shows a look of fear and determination that you'd expect to see, where as Alan Wake has a completely blank expression while the world around him goes to $@&*.

The animation in Alan Wake is downright bad, and the graphics themselves are nothing special. And yet this game for some reason appears on virtually every hype list you'll see posted here. Clearly though, from a visual standpoint at the very least, Uncharted owns it in almost every way imaginable.

Alan Wake on the PC is technically and graphically the closest thing to Crysis. You don't even have a clue what you're talking about.

Alan Wake is meant to be a darker game, and where are the physics in Uncharted compared to Whirlwinds taring up everything in Alan Wake? Yea I though so, non existant... not to mention corridor platformer levels vs large open world with changing conditions.

You compare a large, free-roaming mystery/horror game to a Lara Croft-esque adventure game that has a linear path? That's smart...

It will also be the first game to require a Dual Core CPU.....which is ironic considering they had Crysis Running maxed out on a single core CPU at CES.

I agree with you, and also disagree.  Uncharted looks right now to have a more beautiful and vibrant background with fruitful animations.  Perhaps because it's a jungle game and generally speaking jungle games appear to be more lively then anywhere else (crysis, far cry, etc).  So this game will appeal to me more so than Alan Wake.

However, Alan Wake still has some time left in it and in the end will do things that the PS3 would never be able.  Those with strong enough pcs will see this.  You can't really judge it now.  I for one am looking forward to the incredible huge free roam environment with all of it's destructiveness.

Both games are gonna rock equally hard IMO.

I dont beleive it for a second, I just dont, Maxed out with about 2 people on screen, with my 3.2 Ghz , 8800 and 3 Gig Ram on STALKER for example starts lagging like crazy after about 10 ai enemies join the combat.

I bet that will be the same case for Crysis. Luckily in July the Quad core Halfs in price, ... its upgrade time! :)

Alan Wake owns anything that the PS3 has shown off. I'll be running it on my PC in DX10, something the PS3 can't do. :D

This is really not a good comparison at all. It makes the PS3 look not so hot. You should compare Heavenly Sword to a comparable game like Tomb Raider for 360. Those 2 games are much more alike.

Then Remedy is obviously not a very skilled developer by today's standards. I know that the concept of the game is very ambitious (free-roaming world that is constantly being changed by physics engine), but the visuals are simply flat. The animation is also awful, if you've seen the trailers.

Um, it looks fine to me, and it still has Heavenly Sword beaten. This game couldn't even run full specs on PS3 or 360. But it could do a better job on the 360's hardware since the PS3 ram was segmented and gimped.

Umm, somebody needs to take a look at the DX10 quad core demo showing off the weather effects that AW will have. Uncharted is one of the very PS3 games that I want to play at the moment, but it in no way looks better than Alan Wake.

Remedy has ALWAYS been ahead of the curve as far as graphics are concerned and the Max Payne games showed that in spades they were better than anything on the consoles when they came out and I don't have any doubt that AW will continue that trend.

DX10.

It was being run on an 8800GTX, 2 gigs of ram, and a single core, all maxed out and at a very high resolution (higher then 1080p)

it was running stable, and this was an unfinished build too boot.

I can go dig up the article now.

Alan Wake is Free roaming mind you.

I personally think AW will be better, but Uncharted will rock too.

hummer700

Yeah i also think that Alan Wake is going to be better because of free roaming

Both games are on my most wanted list but im starting to get more excited over Alan Wake then Uncharted even if it was the opposide before some weeks but now as i have seen the gameplay videos of Uncharted it looks very similar to Gears, no free roaming just one path, most of the time only shooting and only 10h long, kinda dissapointing.

As it looks Alan Wake will be more interesting, longer and more story based game.

EDIT: Alan Wake is also better looking, it's a biger game with alot better textures they are much crisper and the colours are alot more natural and realistic so is the lightning.

So tell me, when you look out the window, is the world tinted brown?

Do my shirt and jeans reflect light as if they were coated in vaselline?

Lol. I hate how everyone expects textures to look shiny in games this gen. Are dirt and trees shiny in real life?

When coated in Vaseline they are!

There are only a few developers right now who seem to be capturing "real-life" as it were in their art design. Valve, Crytek and Remedy being at the forefront.

Real time weather effects... Tornado's and everything else. I'm sold!

Maybe at this years E3 we will get some 360 shots and info on the game.
