Nice one, Looks going good.
@charizard1605: isn't ori on PC though?
All of the games I mentioned are on PC, I think, (or maybe not Forza 5? I have lost track). We're way past expecting true exclusives for Xbox at this point lol. This is within the established context of 'all Xbox exclusives will also be on PC' is all.
From the IGN review,
"I had a distinct sense of deja vu with nearly every action scene of this six-hour adventure. Every shootout with disposable guns against mindless paramilitary dudes, every crumbling wall I had to climb and shimmy across, and every floaty driving sequence across the Indian planes felt directly lifted out of the previous Uncharted games. It feels like replaying a great linear action game game – still good, but without the novelty and suspense."
Yeah, I'm not playing that.
Seriously you guys, this is NOT Uncharted 5, this is an expansion pack to UC4 from the gek-go! What were you guys expecting to be? This was so obvious it's using the same formula from UC4 and now, I see everyone is bitching about this expansion pack?

Because it's the exact same thing as the previous five games in the series, done for a sixth time in ten years?

I mean, is that a whole lot different from the other UC games. They gave a 9 and 10 to the last two games

But only Nintendo and Microsoft rehash their games. When Sony does it, it's for the gamers! Add another AAA exclusive to the list!!!

Yeah, but they are allowed to feel it is getting long in the tooth now.
@charizard1605: Except this one, you're NOT playing Drake dude. In this expansion, you'll be playing 2 hot chicks one from UC2 & one from UC4. Drake's story is done and now, we get 2 girls one who is a friend of Drake and one is a enemy of Drake. Hardly the same game.

I struggled to get through UC4 due to boredom. I'm not putting myself through anything resembling that when there are so many good games out right now.

???
It plays identical to the other five games in the series, you could be playing as a soap dispenser and it wouldn't make an iota's difference if the actual setup, structure, and moment to moment gameplay is the same.

Well there's the problem. There's no Drake man grunts in this game. obvious 2 point deduction combined with the lack of dusty Henleys

Maybe if this one were in True 4K, the game would be more fun. Too bad Cows will never find out!

I played 1 and 2, and they were alright. Maybe I'll just skip UC3 (which got a 10 from IGN) and play UC4 at some point just to see how it all wraps up (and since it came with my PS4)

lol
But no, nothing can reinvigorate Uncharted, short of an actual reinvigoration ala God of War (or Breath of the Wild)
@charizard1605: I guess I should have explain it more on my previous post.
I'm just more surprise everyone is complaining it's the same game from previous Uncharted games, this however never surprise me cause I knew it'll be the same ever since UC4 debut last year. I guess I'm not even complaining about this one due to the fact I get it for free with the season pass and to be honest, if I wasn't, I was gonna wait for a low price or at least wait to see if it hits PS+ if that was the case. Also I won't denied for $40, it does sound like a lot for this one, maybe $20 would've been more attractive.
Sorry if I wasn't being clear.

Yeah, I mean, to Naughty Dog's credit, they have been very clear as to what The Lost Legacy is- but that doesn't mean we have to like it for what it is either lol. That is all I am saying.

I was thinking about that, Nintendo is pretty good taking old franchises and refreshing them each gen. Western developers are less inclined to do that. That's why I'm glad that GOW has been somehow refreshed this gen although it also gets its share of criticism because many people want the same old formula over and over.
@pinkanimal: I think it comes down to Nintendo (like most Japanese developers) being a mechanics focused company (which means they need to mechanically reinvent with each new game in a franchise to keep things fresh), while western developers are usually more inclined to be narrative focused, meaning they feel comfortable keeping the same gameplay base while switching up the story.
The first approach is obviously the superior one, as we see with fatigue beginning to set into so many western franchises, but very rarely Japanese ones.
I'm just glad this is part of the season pass but you know what's shady they removed the season pass awhile back. I believe the season pass was only $24.99 too, you could've got it much cheaper at certain stores too. So they're pretty slick, removed that option and suckered their fans to paying $39.99 for this lol. You wonder why they're called cows.
@charizard1605: well put, I hadn't thought about it in those terms, so it's a difference between renovating the gameplay vs renovating the narrative. I agree the first approach is better to avoid franchise fatigue specially since narrative right now is not so strong for video games but maybe in the future that could change. Ideally a combination of the two would be great. The first approach is definitely more risky though.

Ideally, yes, one day we have video games that do both well (and on basic levels, we have a lot of games that do narratives well for my sensibilities as to what storytelling in video games should be). However, if and when that happens, the Naughty Dog method will not be the way--cutscenes and uninteractive storytelling (which is what they excel in) are fundamentally opposed to what games are as a medium, and what their storytelling strengths can be. Because storytelling will also have to be infused with gameplay, the first approach will be necessary even then-at least if things turn out the way i hope they do.
We'll see.
@pinkanimal: I for one been impress with the new God of War game, I was so getting sick & tired of the angry raging Kratos for once and while the Greek Mythology setting was good but it overstayed it's welcome, I'm really glad were moving away from Greek into Norse Mythology now. I want to see Kratos having some feelings in the new game, I want to like the character as it is and giving him emotions is what this series needs so I'm all in for this new God of War next year.
@TheEroica:
Uncharted was never an open world game before. The very fact that it even has it this time around is a marvel in itself. Who cares if it's empty? No one plays Uncharted for an open world experience.
@TheEroica:
Other open world games like Elder Scrolls have years of perfecting their craft. So, no, I don't offer the same concessions for them. This being Naughty Dog's first attempt in the Uncharted games deserves a bit of leniency.
@quadknight: can't have it both ways though, Gamespot reviews are not the beacon of light in gaming and we both know that.
I don't want someone to falsely trash a game, but I do want there to be thoughtful and specific counterpoint to what went right/wrong...
Ultimately I agree, if you're a fan, then get ready for a 6th helping. If you've grown weary this game isn't gonna relight the fire.
When the Andromeda reviews came out I couldn't believe it.... Im a fan. After playing it, I cherry picked from reviews who got it right and wrong. They focused on cut scene eyeballs, which doesn't bother me in the least. It's a stupid cut scene that I don't get to be a part of, so it doesn't irritate me... The empty, uncompelling and waste of time open world however, really bothered me and I'm grateful for the publications that called that out.
Whichever meta score it arrives at is inconsequential, I'm looking forward to the threads two weeks after the game comes out.
Never said GS scores were beacon of light. They just happen to be closer to the general consensus of the game this time among reviewers. IGN is an outlier, simple as that.
I don't give a crap about review scores for franchises I already like, it doesn't matter if the score was from IGN or GS, the score wouldn't factor in my enjoyment or decision to purchase.
:P I'm curious, how do you know know IGN is the most accurate review when you haven't even played the game yet lol?
@killered3: I respect your opinion man, but I heavily heavily disagree with that logic. Games should be reviewed based on what they are. Period. If it's a bland open world the review should reflect that as they are projecting worth to consumers, specifically first time consumers. To glaze over it's failures as an open world is horrible in terms of a review.

That's not how this works. You judge a game against other similar games on the market. Nintendo did their first open world earlier this year, and they clowned everyone else with it. Naughty Dog is often spoken of as being in the same league as Nintendo, right? Then why have they not managed it?
@TheEroica:

That's the first time I never heard someone said UC4 is an open world game, let alone a sandbox game for that matter.
Naughty Dogs has never made an open world game before, neither has Guerrilla Games that is, until they made Horizon: Zero Dawn.
@charizard1605: Now that I think about it, if everyone is now hating UC4 due to being the same old, same old, I do wonder if The Last of Us 2 will be treated the same? Like you said, Naughty Dogs wanting to be in the same league as Nintendo, if they somehow turn TLOU2 into something more different from the first game, I be surprise if they did or if turning it into an open world, I be very surprise if they did since Naughty Dogs has yet to make an open world game of there own.

It would depend on its execution, in the end. I have more faith in TLOU2.
@charizard1605: @davillain-: im with Chaz, it depends on the execution, but I'm gonna be honest, I didn't ask for tlou2, because the first is masterpiece. I loved the way it ended. It was totally complete.
We exist in a capitalist society though where money will always supercede the purity of art.
Imagine now what naughty dog could do with two new ips instead of beating the dead horse on uncharted and giving us a sequel to a game that didn't need it.... But I dream.
