I'm starting to feel bad for ps3 owners. At first I just laughed at their ill-advised purchase, buying simply because of the brand name... but now it's getting sad. There is really nothing on ps3 worth buying, there has been no system seller yet. I have a gaming PC, 360 and a Wii which all have great system selling titles. Yet PS3 has yet to win me over.
On schedule for a Nov. release.[QUOTE="KD-Archangel"][QUOTE="Meu2k7"]And what of the PC Version??? :evil:Meu2k7
Thats all I needed to hear :D
Same here, my stomach instantly tied up in knots when I originally heard the news, as they didn't specifty whether or not is was the PC version. Thank the heavens...
[QUOTE="KD-Archangel"][QUOTE="JAMES_L_BROOKS"]"Our goal"...yep that's all the confirmation I need right there lol.http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=577872
IT IS NOT DELAYED
Mark Rein
"As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. But our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once it's ready and is the best game we can deliver. The PC version is still on track for a November release."
there not delayed
/THREAD
i made another thread before but it got locked for no reason
JAMES_L_BROOKS
after he says if not november than december... not Q1 2008...
He also said that they would only ship the game when they were absolutely sure it was finished. They thought the issue was so important that they issued a statement about it. That alone speaks volumes about the difficulties they are encountering with a 2007 release. As the hermits are probably laughing away and clinking glasses.WeAreToast
It's mostly the silly console fanboys that will be clinking glasses, ie the Anti-Sony crowd. Us PC Gamers are in our own world, and we like it that way, nor do the majority of us wish bad things upon other people. It also doesn't hurt that we tend to be a bit older, and I would hope more mature than bask in others dissapointment. That's what silly fanboys and their silly console wars are for.
As a PC Gamer, I was looking forward to showcasing another PC title to a crowd that doesn't really know, for the most part, what pc gaming is all about, ie..mods, m/k controls, among other things. I applaud Sony for catering to the way the game is supposed to be played, rather than altering it's purpose.

Well, it's nice that you feel that way. But this may up sales for the PC version.
[QUOTE="OmegaOrtega"][QUOTE="mikemil828"]Epic has finally realized where it's bread is buttered, it's not on the x360, it's not on the ps3. It's on the PC.mikemil828
Finally?? What the crap, they've been known that. They only put Gears on 360 because it was the must have console.
They know what to invest their money in and what not to. They've been a successful company long before these Halo fans and other console people even knew they've existed.
Actually it's probably more because Microsoft paid them a **** load of money to not do what they usually do which is to put there games on every system feasible, including macs and linux boxes, and guarantee exclusivitity of gears to the x360....for a while. But they now have realized that all of the money in the world isn't worth ticking off the group that supported them from the beginning, The PC/Mac/Linux crowd.
Actually Microsoft paid them AND 360 was the prime console (as I stated in my previous post), PS3 and Wii were not out.
Ticking of PC gamers or not, Epic knew where to put there money then esspecially with MS paying them, and they know where to put it now.
[QUOTE="Not-A-Stalker"][QUOTE="solidgamer"]lol who would want to play UT on a consoleturgore
Someone with a crappy PC. *Raises hand* :|
*Raises hand too.* Hey if you will give me a new PC I will gladly play it on that.
Yeah, not everyone has an up to date computer. I know I will probably end up playing it on the 360 even though the pc version will be better, as they always have been. Hopefully the controls won't be too gimped.better they delay then bring out a rushed game...Microsoft1234
Or they delay it and the game still feels rushed. *cough* Lair *cough*

whats the last time a PC game sold 2.5 million copies in 1 day? anyone who ignores that is not doing business. Any gave dev would make 360 their main platform if they could. and 360 being so close to PC is not bad either.

what beyond halo 3 has an x360 game sold 2.5 million copies in one day? Not even gears did that well, hell most games on the x360 have barely sold a million, if at that. Would any game dev make the 360 their main platform? If their studio's name was 'Bungie' and the game involved a green suited guy fighting space aliens on a ring world, probably. For everyone else the choice is less certain.

Im not trying to make some childish 360 vs PC argument.
What Im saying is that Epic took advantage of the 360. As they have also with PC.
Oh and not sure of ANY game that has sold 2.5 mil in one day on any system BESIDES Halo 3. It's 1 game and no other game has done such a thing, that I know of.
Tho there are PC titles that have sold over 4 mil, Half Life 1 and 2, Unreal T, Guild Wars, World of Warcraft and more.
[QUOTE="Rockman999"]aww g@y...now i might just buy a 360.mikemil828
Won't get you UT3 any sooner
Will get you plenty of other good games, though, and Halo 3 should at least temporarily satisfy that console shooter fix. And then there's Mass Effect. I honestly think that game alone would be worth buying a 360. I'm not saying it'll be a system seller, since it's not an established IP, but it'll be that good.
haha well cows get the gimped version anyways.VACASCULIADAS
How is the PS3 version gimped? Did you not see Mark Rein's comment about the maps?
Again, this is very disappointing. I'll never forget all the talk about Epic getting 50fps out of the PS3 on unoptimised code back at E3 2005. But now? It gets us nothing but a delay. I guess I just love UT so much...but it's a real blow to the Fall lineup for the console.Dreams-Visions
GTAIV and UT3 being delayed until 2008 effectively cripples the PS3's holiday season. They have to rely on Haze as an exclusive to satisfy the shooter fans, but I hardly think that game will have anyone buying a PS3. They have nothing the rest of the year that can really push PS3s, with the slim possibility of R&C, and the installed base even worldwide is already low (much less in NA, where it's shockingly low). They're in trouble.
Meanwhile the 360 should see a pretty good push in console sales by 2008 because of Halo 3, and with the addition of the rest of the lineup of games already out and coming out later this year. The PS3 needs a price cut, and it needs it soon. The UT3 delay may expediate the official announcement of that much-rumored $399 40 gig SKU. Sony can't afford to enter 2008 with an installed base that's too low, even with their signature franchises on the horizon (a couple of which could realistically attain multiplat status if Sony doesn't get their act together).

which is likely why Sony played down TGS saying that Sony was 'rebranding' the PS3 for spring of 08.
marketing talk or fact, it's still lame. Sony is obviously playing catch-up this gen, question is - will they ever gain the lead?
hehehe - one step closer to cows admitting the cell isn't ideal for gaming (at least at this point in time).3picuri3
Is that why Silicon Knights changed engines and sued Epic???
Obviously getting the engine to run fully optimized is not a easy feat, whether it's on one console or another.
I think this just goes to show how hard of a time developers are having with the PS3. This upcoming holiday and 08 looks BLEEK for the PS3, you guys have to admit that. The PS3 has been botched form the get go, lose another big exclusive and its lights out on the PS3, i really believe that. I owned a PS1 and PS2 and loved them, but now have a 360 and have been very impressed along with several other friends who have done the same. I have no desire to have a PS3 and Metal Gear is not a system seller like many want you to think. UT is another nail in the coffin that is already half closed.DMBcard
The difficulty most developers are probably faced with is, is it even worth it consuming time and resources to learn every nook and cranny of a PS3 to develop an optimized game for it, if so few people would buy it that we wouldn't even see money back much less make a profit?
I think that's a big reason we see so many shoddy ports and otherwise unoptimized games for the PS3. It's not that they're "lazy devs", but that they just don't think it would be fiscally responsible to bother making it better. And it's a big catch-22, because if the PS3 isn't getting exclusives specially designed and optimized for it, then people aren't gonna buy it, and if people don't buy it, then devs aren't gonna want to spend time learning the PS3 to make those games. It's a vicious cycle.

der - epic makes UT, what you just said makes no sense, if it did that means Silicon Knights suit is invalid, which makes your point ironically more wrong :) this is specific to the PS3, read the official community site and comments.

this is what will ultimately spell the demise of the PS3. boy i'll be happy when that happens. they ruined the N64, time for Sony to do some time in the brig.

Sony needs a good slap in the face. They made too many arrogant comments and unfulfilled promises before the release of the PS3, and even after. Thinking that just because the PS2 sold incredibly well, you could release a $600 "multimedia machine" (as it was originally dubbed, before they got smarter) and expect people to simply eat it up? Sony wanted Blu-Ray to win over HD-DVD so badly that they may have destroyed the PS3 mainly because of it. This'll be a lesson to other companies as well, including Microsoft.

it's really a classic case of poor business management - part of what makes it so strange.
-blu-ray inclusion was heavily influenced by sony's partnership with the tech, despite Sony's knowledge of low blu-ray diode yields well before their decision to include.
-vibration originally omitted because Sony was too stubborn to settle suit with Immersion when they were obviously in the wrong.
-constantly build up consumer hype beyond realistic expectations by rarely releasing in-game promotional material.
-include the cell because Ken thinks it's the neatest thing in years as far as processors go, regardless of it being a cpu in it's infancy that nobody knows how to fully take advantage of in the Science field - let alone GAMING.
-charge $600 because we're way over our heads and this **** costs a lot of money to make.
-delay, delay, delay.
-Sony reps spew out numerous lies and contradicting statements.
-finally unveil your next-gen controller final prototype with rumble, nearly a year after launch when most customers have bought additional bunk sixaxis at full price.... then say it doesn't come out until 2008. you also forget to mention at TGS that the controller includes positional rumble and button feedback, but hey - it's not like Sony fans were looking for good news
-drop the price of the PS3 only to clear inventory to reintroduce additional SKUS at the original pricepoints. do you think we're really that stupid Sony?
-Afrika, wtf, where is it?
-Lair, HS, flops. omg, did i seriously buy this for flops and inferior multiplats? Is it Warhawk forever?

WoW:BC sold more copies than Halo 3 in the first 24 hours, with 2.4 million copies on day one and 3.1 million by day 2. WTF are you talking about? The Orange Box on PC will sell well over a million, probably more, in the first week alone.
