UPDATE: Is Crackdown 3 Next? Maybe not!

We all know that Scalebound has been cancelled. The reason why seems to be because of delays in delivering a working product. So I wonder, could Crackdown 3 be the next cancelled game from MS?

The game was announced at E3 2014, the same show Scalebound was announced in, and was supposed to show off what the cloud could do for gaming with fully destructible environments in an open world city. A working demo was promised for the summer of 2016, but it never materialized. Additionally, Crackdown 3 was completely absent at last year's E3 which threw some red flags for some.

This could all be because Crackdown 3 was transitioning to Microsoft's play anywhere program and it could just be a standard delay. But with the way things went with Platinum, and the game not having a confirmed release date, it's not impossible that the game could be bordering on cancellation. Even when QB was delayed and announced for PC, they still showed it off and had release dates set.

What do you guys think?

It will come out but forget the physics you've seen. It won't be possible on the Xbone and that's the reason why it won't come out until Scorpio is released. They realized their console is an underpowered mess and decided to port the game to the Xbone 2.0

@silversix_: no more of an underpowered mess the ps3 was when compared to the 360 last gen and besides the ps4 is only 20% more powerful then xb1

To be honest, Crackdown 3 was supposed to be using the Cloud and all but from the ways things are going, I haven't heard MS mentioning the Cloud for a long time now but of course, Crackdown 2 was a piss poor sequel and wouldn't surprise me if that game get's scrap.

Maybe MS is just waiting for the Scorpio reveal before showing any games after the reveal since the current Xbox One is weak after all?

@Zero_epyon: Crackdown 3 rumors started to pop up after Scalebound news and no one hasn't heard anything from Crackdown 3 for a very long time. Like I said, it's possible that MS is waiting on Scorpio's hardware reveal before discussing any 1st party games will benefit from it.

I think the issues with Crackdown could be the promised cloud support. It could well be completely outside of the developers control and down to the Azure network.

why would you buy a PS4 for two MMOs that were announced for PC? i'll give you deep down, but that's capcom's problem.

The ps3 was more powerful than the 360, it just was hard to develop for.

Who cares, lems won't. They didn't with Scalebound. They'll just pretend that any exclusive AAA game even remotely interesting getting cancelled n their system is just Cancelsoft's way at giving them more free time to guzzle more HaLolGurzFlopza. Cancelsoft know their fanboys extremely well.

not really, not with the marginal differences we saw and how depending on the type of game one could be better than the other.

Downfall of PC gaming started with the rise of xbox. now downfall of Xbox will lead to Rise of PC gaming once again. as PC gaming now is becoming as good as it was in 90s and early 00s.

I don't think PC gaming's current rise has anything to do with MS. If Xbox does go away, which I don't think will happen anytime soon, it won't have much of an effect on PC gaming.

We havent seen much recently and MS usually does a good job at releasing games within a year or 2 of showing them.

PS3 had better exclusives, they just didn't sell well, stuff like playstation all stars, folklore, etc etc and then games like mgs 4.

PS3 even had native 1080p games.

THe ps3 did have more power than the xbox 360, it just wasn't very good to download for so it resulted in devs not being able to use the power that was locked away in it.

It's why the ps4 was made so easy to access.

For CPU workload side, PS4 is weaker than XBO e.g. reverse results in Hitman 2016 with many NPCs scenes .

KZ2's deferred rendering lights method was also done with BF3.

BF3 PS3 edition used SPUs for it's deferred rendering lights method while X360's GPU unified shaders was able to handle the same workloads. My point: NVIDIA RSX is a shit GPU.

Crackdown 3 was announced at Microsoft's press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 in June 2014.

Crackdown 3 would most likely need to reach year 2018 for it's 4th year in development.

Crackdown 3's planned release is year 2017.
